  • Was able to go out on the river for the first time in a while. Thought it was gonna be a dink fest, but this big guy saved the day! The water temp was just above 70 for those who’d like to know. All fish released and caught on either the Mepps Wooly Worm Spin Fly or a 1/32nd VMC Neon Mooneye jig with a Charlie Brewer crappie slider grub. You don’t know if you don’t go, Sunny People!

      It’s possible. Back then I didn’t have the contact info for the official weigh station. And it can’t be C&R because it’s an invasive species. Thanks for the support, 512!

    Nice I found your channel from fishbrain today and already a fan! Been wanting to start a channel but don’t know where to start! this is my daily spot I live a min away! Any tips for winter artificials?

    • @sunnyt4212
      @sunnyt4212  3 года назад +2

      Thanks for taking a look around! Definitely start a channel. I was intimidated at first but once I started it came pretty naturally. The fish on this section tend to bite a small spinnerbait year round if the skies are at least partly cloudy to sunny. Also, they will hit small stick baits like Ned Rigs but you get more numbers on small skinny worms like a trout worm. Swimming a 2” grub will catch fish all year long but especially in the Winter months. Try to slow your retrieve in the Winter and fish closer to the bottom. Don’t be afraid to just pause it and let it sink back down if you haven’t felt bottom in a while. You may lose some tackle but you will catch more/bigger fish also. After a rain and when the river is up/stained fish a bigger spinner and crawfish crank baits. Hope this helps!

      No problem! I like GoPro. I tried my iPhone first and it ran thru my battery too fast, which was bad but the real problem was the footage was not steady at all. It looked like I was filming during an earthquake! 😂 I tried Sony’s adventure camera after that but it was still pretty unstable, especially for the price I paid. Once I got my first GoPro and figured out how to make it work for the types of fishing/filming I do, I was in good shape. You can find GoPro 5 Blacks for fairly cheap and they will do what you need to do some strap mounts and some adventure tripods (the ones with tentacles legs) and you are on your way! Go for it Denise!!

      @sunnyt4212  2 года назад

      Yes indeed, but the river gets ammonia spills and a lot of ag run off. Thanks for the support!

  • @RequiemJr
    @RequiemJr 2 года назад

    I wonder if there's still tilapia in there. I heard someone mention because of the brutal freeze we had that it more than likely killed the majority, if not all, of the tilapia.

    • @sunnyt4212
      @sunnyt4212  2 года назад +1

      There are still some being pulled out from what I’m told by some fishing buddies. But, the ammonia spill and then the freeze did knock them for a big loop. Unfortunately (or fortunately; depending on how you look at it) it doesn’t take a lot of them to repopulate a water body quickly

    Great show man! What rod are you throwing those tiny baits with? I’ve been trying Med spinning with braid/fluoro leader and I’m wondering if they’re seeing my line.

    • @sunnyt4212
      @sunnyt4212  3 года назад

      I was using a Bass Pro Shop Micro Lite Graphite rod. 6' Light power and Fast Action. Unfortunately that don't make that specific make of rod anymore but they do have a next generation of the rod series. Most of the other UL and L rods I throw are St Croix Panfish Series rods. They are super! I love my BPS rod but my St Croix rods are great as well. Thanks for your question and looking out!
