  • “We had AK-47s put to our head.”
War photographer Lynsey Addario talks about being kidnapped in Libya by Gaddafi loyalist forces and held hostage for a week. Having photographed war, death and destruction all over the world, she arrived in Libya in February of 2011 to photograph the beginning of the Arab Spring.
Having risked her life to travel into a conflict zone, Lynsey was among a group of journalists who were kidnapped by Gaddafi loyalist forces. While she was held hostage for a week, she was sexually assaulted and wondered if she’d ever see her family again.
Lynsey gives us an intimate insight into the devastating reality of the revolution that happened across the Middle East, using her photos to build up the sense of chaos, resilience and human loss.

You missed the whole point. I am arguing against the apologetics of the original comment and the mentality shared by you and apologizers for any past or present dictatorship.
The economic achievements of dictatorships can never justify or legitimize a dictatorship.
Any sense of order or stability brought by a dictatorship can never justify or legitimize a dictatorship, especially when it is due to an authoritarian structure.
If for whatever reason you disagree, whether because you believe dictatorships can ever be legitimate, or you're deluded enough to deny the facts of what is qualified as a dictatorship, go ahead and continue to bootlick for them. I won't stop you.

Do you really wanna be the guy who upon hearing someone share their tragic story about how they had, say a M2 shot at them, pipes in and says, "I really sorry that happened to you, OH AND BY THE WAY the M2 is a relic, nowadays the army uses the M2A1.
