Just going outside and looking at nature is a great source of insparation. I don't live in the woods or anything, but even in the city I live in there's some nice places to see
Exactly! I do at least 10k steps a day and there's always something new and exciting to see, not to mention seeing the beauty in the things you see every day. - Shield
I have the opposite problem. I have a million ideas I want to draw, but don't have the materials to do it. Yes, I have a sketchbook, but my ocd doesn't like erasing and would much prefer the adjustability (not sure if that's a word) that comes with digital art to help improve myself. NOt to mention the ability to easily get references and resources for proportion. And I want to use color most of all. Basically I want to get myself a drawing tablet but don't have the funds. Although, I had art block a few years ago when covid came and completely stopped me from doodling or doing anything. The thing that restored my want to draw was making something random and colorful on my sisters drawing tablet, making me realize I want to do digital art. Ctrl z is perfect for my ocd. And no, I don't want to use hers because I like privacy-
I get art block so much! I’m literally dealing with it right now! I don’t even know what caused it💀 I have something I REALLY want to draw but I’m just unable to. I constantly want to draw to study and draw for myself every time I sit down and pick up a pencil but studies always get frustrating because I don’t know the most efficient way to do it that will make me happy with the results.
You actually did figure out what causes your art block in this comment! You have the pressure of wanting to make great drawings andbeing efficient, which is so valid! If you want to be efficient and be happy with your results, dig deeper and figure out what's off to you! For example, you feel like the face is off; you never know where to put the nose/eyes/mouth! If that's the case, draw some faces and try your best to avoid those mistakes! Try to figure out what you can improve and just try something different till it works c: It's hard to have the pressure of making something great each time, so it's okay to take time and not get it right the first time! Forgive yourself, and remember that it's better to have drawings where you tried something (whether failed or successful) than no drawings at all! And know that it's also okay to take a break and maybe try again later, or the next day! I believe in you! :D - Iggy
this is the anime motivation i needed. thank you. the balance is the hardest part. usually when i get a block of some sort, i play videogames or watch adventure time
I kept getting frustrated at drawing because I just could NOT draw what I wanted and how I wanted. I never recognised it as art block, even though I’ve been drawing for years now, but finally I know what it is!! ❤
Do you have any tips for getting over art block that’s because of pressure? Not sure if that made sense lol, but what I mean is, I feel pressured to make my art really good, and the pressure has put me in an art block :,D Any ideas?
Ooh good question! Ask yourself: why are you pressured to make your art really good? Who is making you feel stressed about getting better? Do you need to get better at the moment? After figuring that out, figure out if you need to take a break or keep going and practicing! You know yourself, so do what's best for you and whatever you choose, you'll for sure get to your goals as long as you work at it! c: - Iggy

I'm still a beginner but I have a weird art block. I started a particular drawing like 10 months ago, and I haven't been drawing since. I don't know where to go with it, but I also do. Every time I think about drawing again I think about "well I should finish that one drawing" but I just can't. I have such high expectations but also fear of what it will end up like....... It's not even a good drawing!! I've tried occasional doodles but I can't rebuild a routine.
Are you on our Discord? We have a whole thread about art block, maybe sharing your story and getting different perspectives from server members can help! discord.gg/wingedcanvas - Shield
That's cute! That's because you're drawing for yourself, like I mentioned in the video! c: It's always nice and relaxing to draw what you like c: - Iggy
I'm still going through with it but I know why I got it at the first place soo I'm working on it and it's just the feeling that I can today isn't my best and the more and more I try to make it better it gets worse and worse soo now I'm just looking at my old drawings and thinking that that's my best and I should rest it out a bit lol
Oh noooo!! I hope you made it through. Just keep your head up! If you want to talk about it we have a Discord thread about the topic! discord.gg/wingedcanvas
Self care and taking care of your basic needs is really important for your art, it helps me out so much and its more fun to draw as well :3
Exactly! Great point.

Having the opposite problem is a good thing! Jotting them down in your sketchbook can help you save your ideas for later and focus on one at a time :)
