Dirt Bike Magazine builds a 2007 Suzuki RM250 2 Stroke Offroad weapon. ere it is for the first time ever seen by the public, our Wrench Rabbit Suzuki RM250 is done. We worked with top industry companies like FMF, Dunlop, Vertex, Hinson Racing, Faster USA Wheels, Topar, Nihilo, Supersprox and Decal Works graphics.The engine was fully rebuilt using a kit from Wrench Rabbit and Syndicate Racing did some engine mods while we had it apart.An IMS oversized tank is a must for just about any offroad project and gave our RM250 around three gallons of fuel capacity .An FMF complete exhaust, Hinson clutch components and a V-Force intake gave the RM250 a little boost of performance while a JD Jetting kit made sure the proper about of fuel is delivered.

Sweet looking bike. If suzuki made a modern version of this they would sell quite well. There is such a big off-road market.

i just bought a rm 250 2 stroke from 1997 :-) i love it and just rebuild the forks and clutch, next i try to give it a unique look and ride it on weekley base on our tracks.
it runs great and i needed to make some parts myself, because the were no longer available. it still looks like fresh from the junk jard, but hey, its a very old lady ;-) i hope i can ride it for the next view years and i will maintain it as good as i can :-) maybe i will make a video about it too ;-)

All u need is handguards, a maxxis desert it rear tire and if u wanted to splurge after that a steering stabilizer. But steering stabilizer isn't great for track riding. Big Tank is only useful for long rides.

I converted my ‘06 to this, I’m really liking it. Which RaceTech settings did you follow. It looks like your really getting it and it’s performing well.

Add a stabilizer and a flywheel. Best off road bike I’ve ever ridden in my opinion, and I’ve ridden them all!

Great bike but in the early 2000s the Dominant offroad team was FMF Suzuki with riders like Rodney Smith and Steve Hatch. A FMF Offroad replica would have been sweet.
It also seems pretty lazy for a magazine to build a Offroad bike, and take it to a motocross track for the video.
Been saying this for years watching this channel. They do offroad builds or do Enduro Bike shootouts... on a god damn MX track

Did FMF make that custom silencer for you guys? I cant find one anywhere for my 2005 RM 250

It's an FMF powercore 2. $142. You can see it at 1:08. Look for 03-08 models. They're interchangeable. I've got one on my 06 RM250.

That silencer isn’t approved for off-road though:( you have to have the fmf turbinecore 2

Tracks don’t need spark arrestors. I live 30 mins from glen helen, I’m well aware of where they are, and what the laws are. I’ve been ticketed for not having a spark arrestor, so I’m just passing on the info. Tracks don’t have the same rules as desert racing, enduro, hare and hound, etc… Fires are started all the time in California from non spark arrested pipes. Start up your bike at night and you’ll see why there are spark arrestors.

Nope. There have been many brought out to our local ride nights recently. Any two stroke that’s recently come off of the showroom floor (except for the ancient Yamaha YZ designs) have more power everywhere...and most without vibrations now. Memories have a way of glossing thing over.
@@gpaull2 each one has their own opinion, but I ride the new and the old, and for me what is best is the control you can have over them due to the gearbox and suspension. because they are not stronger by engine.

ZeNNer 007 - I’ve owned many two strokes from as far back as ‘78. They were ALL harder hitting power wise, and had harsh suspension (that blew through the stroke and bottomed too) compared to anything I’ve ridden from a non-Japanese brand from the last few years. Today’s modern two strokes have smooth manageable power throughout the whole rpm range, and the suspension is worlds better with a much wider range of adjustability that actually does something. If set up correctly for your weight and riding style, there is no way that a modern two stroke is less manageable and harder to ride. Not sure what you found wrong with modern gearboxes, besides that they don’t find neutral automatically for you! They have more gears, making it easier to find the perfect gear for most situations.

2 stroke builds are usually fun to ride as long as they run for a long time! WTF, who builds your motors?
I rebuild my own with OEM cranks and Vortex pistons, and they run for a long time. I always question DB videos because they make it seem like you get 4 rides out of a 2 stroke rebuild.

James Warren - lol, then that explains why you think Yamaha makes the best 2 stroke! Ride something modern, you’ll be blown away. The Yamahas are nice, anything counterbalanced is exceptional.
First of Kawasaki makes the best 2 strokes, the 99 kx250 was the best. The 89 yz250 was the only bike that came close to being as good.

Uhh no... All the 2 stroke 250s have very similiar performance, the Kx 250 didnt stand out, the engines are really similiar.
Vertti syrjälä Yeah but Suzuki still have less power than honda and kawi.You can feel it if you rode all of them...It is about power band,gear ratio and some other stuff..
