Great harvest Dom!! I want to try those round squash, I may have to find me a seed pack for my 2nd set of squash after squash bug season. Happy Gardening everyone!!
Today’s May 17 Friday yesterday we had that horrible, horrible storm and today we’re still having storms but no wind but a lot of rain and thunder and lightning.. (Houston)⚡️☔️🙏🏽
I’ve grown the white patty pans before. You don’t even need to peel them. Just slice them in 1/4”+ slices and throw on the grill. They are a really great summer squash. Also, cut the squash off and leave about 1” stem - they will keep better if you do.
Beautiful Cauliflower! The patty pan is like a blank canvass. A cross between a cucumber and uncooked zucchini. I didn’t personally think it was sweeter than regular zucchini. But it can be harvested young like summer squash or left to store like winter squash so that’s a bonus. Nice harvest.
Just pausing at the patty pans. I haven't grown white ones yet, but we've grown Sunburst (yellow, sometimes with a green spot) and G-Star (deep green). They are a very prolific squash! We usually harvest them when the are just a 2-4 inches across, though one of these days I want to try leaving some longer and try them stuffed and baked. We enjoy them at a smaller size, raw, and never seem to have enough!
Yes, put a top thin top layer of compost or like that chicken poop on top of them feathers it’ll help them break down. I make my own compost and I’ve gotten pretty good at it.
Wow. What a great harvest! I feel like everything takes so long to grow in my garden. Do you have any tips? To be fair, my soil is pretty bad as most of my garden beds are new and I just used bagged soil and added compost and granular fertilizer. But I feel like I planted most of my stuff at the same time as you and they are not even close to producing 😫
I think you would get better results if you allowed your compost materials to break down into soil before adding to your beds. Make a compost bin where you can take all your materials to. This way your bins will get the same soil constancy rather than bins getting different types of soil mixture. If done right, you should be able to get two binds of soil. One for the fall and spring. I actually got my plastic compost bin from our college gardening program. Also, I find peat moss to be beneficial for loosing soil and retaining moisture. I usually add extra peat moss in the fall when winterizing the garden for the coming year.
What an amazing harvest. Thanks for taking us along.
Our pleasure!

Building soil is very important. The beds I combined together the soil isn't that great. It takes time, but don't give up
Growing pattypans for the first time too. Let me know how you cook it.
I'm not sure how I'll be cooking them, but I'll be sure to let y'all know
Beautiful harvest. How do keep snakes out of your garden. I have a small bucket garden on my porch and there has been two snakes on the porch already
Snakes are a part of nature. I can't keep them out of the garden
Did you go back and pick that black beauty zucchini? I didn’t see it in the basket. Great harvest!
I didn't, I left it
Hey boo what variety of cucumber is the long one they look nice!!!❤
I have Suyo long I left on the vine and tasty is what I picked
Good morning, do you eat the cauliflower greens?
I have in the past. I did not eat these
I'm sorry if I missed it, but what kind of rainbow carrots did you plant?
They were Danvers carrots, purple and yellow carrots. They weren't technically a rainbow just different packs
How do up deal with the buds eating your garden
I don't do anything with bugs 😅 but I do have BT if caterpillars get really bad
What type of green beans?
Painted Pony
