Builds have definitely gotten too expensive. Back in the day you could buy the legend edition of the game and that 100k would be all you needed to get started in the game. Nowadays that gets you to like 75 overall which is not nearly enough to compete. Not to mention needing to buy animations and what not

One of my friends, who plays offline is 4 seasons into MyCareer and only 74 overall. You used to be able to earn more bonuses but when people abused VC glitches 2K stopped being so generous.
I was offline too but I played close to 1 whole season and was a 85 overall on my NMS build. I think if I really tried I probably would have gotten to 95+ in another season but ended up playing other games. Also I wanted to note that I would play the streetball events, Chris manning pick up games, and the Weekly challenges to get extra VC during the season.
I’m just over VC. If it was cosmetic ok but the fact I gotta spend 3-4x the amount I paid for the game just to be considered competitive and good enough to keep up is wild. Then trying to grind isn’t worth it because you can’t barely do anything at 60 ovr so I think I’m just gonna wait for it to go on gamepass. Last year I bought the game when it was on sale for 10 bucks and I STILL feel I paid too much and I barely even played 2k24
2k is a business a thriving one at that. They lost interest in the communities approval a Long time ago. Double VC used to be unlocked at an overall, that’s now gone. The wheel would show you what’s on there as it spun, that’s now gone and hidden behind presents lol. The game is unplayable as a ball handler without Gatorade. Do the math of Gatorade + jumpshot boost + dunking boost per game average and deduct that from game earnings. The micro transactions are getting insane , I play my team more than MC , but I originally started playing MC in 2k14 , I could go buy a $100 Xbox card and have a 99 overall SG going into my first season over grinding it out, now $100 won't get me to an 85 overall. In MT this past season 9 , I bought the HOF pass , I opened 4 goat packs and I got 3 unsellable G.oa.t T-Mac's and 1 LeBron , they know I hate LeBron ( hate is a strong word , I dislike intensly ) my favorite team is the Bulls , my favorite players currently Tatum , PG13 , Harden , Steph , Luka etc. I love T-Mac but 3 !?!?!?! And the other 2 could only be resold for 3k MT , that means a chance at T-Mac costs me $50 real money and if I get him more the once I can only sell the doubles for a dollar. I've dumped ridiculous money into this game trying to GO Kobe and DM PG13 and got shit , every quality card I get can't be resold , this is the first time since 2014 that I didn't have every court, Jersey , arena , coach etc. till season 9 ?!?!?!?! And literally lucked into the 82 Nuggets CT. To complete my set. I used to be able to buy all the cards I wanted and I understood the price points , with all the money I've pumped into this game since 2k21 I should have a 20% share in their company and this is how you repay me for my loyalty and hard earned dollars ? Man I remember in 2K19 I believe I won like 35,000 off of a game of dodgeball. And then the rest I earned in my career. It took me about another month and then I won another large amount of VC in dodgeball again. The bills were cheaper if you factor in like 88 overall to 99. Not only that like you're saying brute we were able to earn more VC by just playing the game. Everything you play is at a loss except for reck and Pro-Am. And let's be honest majority of the 2K community doesn't play Pro-Am because that's where a lot of the sweats go. Majority of the community plays park and rec.

To be real all they have to do is increase the amount of vc you make per game played. Park base should be 600 vc per game and since 5v5 is 3 to 4 times longer than park games we should get a base of 2k to 2.5k vc
2K24 made me want to quit 2K altogether. I’m someone who’s put 750 hours in at least every year. The only reason I’m considering picking up 2K25 is bc I actually use league pass. If I’m gonna spend 100 on the pass, 35 dollars for the new game MAY be worth if they bring back the auction house. That’s my caveat.

There’s no f**kin way that regular people (that don’t work for 2K or Take 2) are defending the monetization model in NBA 2K! There is no other game where you pay full price for the game, at least $50 to create your first character, and another $100 over the span of upgrading that one character… And that’s not even taking into account buying any cosmetics or consistently having to replace the boosts in order to be competitive. Not to mention, 2K nerfing your build into the ground, and not reimbursing you or anything. Double VC used to be unlocked at an overall, that’s now gone. The wheel would show you what’s on there as it spun, that’s now gone and hidden behind presents lol. Power is insane if he thinks inflation is at 30% it’s 8% so that doesn’t account for the change. He must’ve gotten his community day invite lol. The game is unplayable as a ball handler without Gatorade. Do the math of Gatorade + jumpshot boost + dunking boost per game average and deduct that from game earnings. I’m with you, I stopped playing park as you are losing money to play each game. Rec is the only place you gain and tbh even thats at close to break even.

I just wanna play a fun game. They have made it so grindy that it's not fun anymore. Everyone copies each other. People watch all the youtubers and there build videos. I will get it on sale and play Eras/Franchise. And even the W lol. There mode is actually fun if u give it a chance. It's more about basketball fundamentals in the W. @@boredkid2915 the devs explained this one a while back the reason we can’t respec is because for everytime you respec it would double the memory needed for an individual player save file, why double what they have to pay for servers and the head ache of file corruption? The problem with the vc is that the price for vc has went up also. I remember in 2k15 $30 and I was straight to upgrade a build to 85.

The micro transactions are getting insane , I play my team more than MC , but I originally started playing MC in 2k14 , I could go buy a $100 Xbox card and have a 99 overall SG going into my first season over grinding it out, now $100 won't get me to an 85 overall. In MT this past season 9 , I bought the HOF pass , I opened 4 goat packs and I got 3 unsellable G.oa.t T-Mac's and 1 LeBron , they know I hate LeBron ( hate is a strong word , I dislike intensly ) my favorite team is the Bulls , my favorite players currently Tatum , PG13 , Harden , Steph , Luka etc. I love T-Mac but 3 !?!?!?! And the other 2 could only be resold for 3k MT , that means a chance at T-Mac costs me $50 real money and if I get him more the once I can only sell the doubles for a dollar. I've dumped ridiculous money into this game trying to GO Kobe and DM PG13 and got shit , every quality card I get can't be resold , this is the first time since 2014 that I didn't have every court, Jersey , arena , coach etc. till season 9 ?!?!?!?! And literally lucked into the 82 Nuggets CT. To complete my set. I used to be able to buy all the cards I wanted and I understood the price points , with all the money I've pumped into this game since 2k21 I should have a 20% share in their company and this is how you repay me for my loyalty and hard earned dollars ? You know how stupid I feel when I put $400 into gold only to have a shit roster and none of the cards I want , I've also noticed that it's like slot machines in Vegas...if you buy packs with MT you've got less than a 1% chance of getting anything...I buy $20 worth of gold and suddenly hit a couple dark matters but they can't be resold. I've literally gotten 100 Klay Thompson 7 times from packs and got $6 returned on my $1400 invested. This shit is out of control. I'm quitting if 2k25 even remotely starts out like 24 , and where the f**k did Kobe go !?!?!?! It's his game and I have more Brian Scalabrine cards than Kobe ( kobes my second all-time favorite player ) I have more Jack Sikma , Danny Manning , Tyrese Haliburton , VanVleet , and Aldridge than the guy who's game it is. Am not saying to bring this system back by any means necessary but what I had to play My career in 2k 22 to keep My 99 overall I played a lot , My VC was up to $2500 per 5 minute game and I would sim out at half time up 25. I could make a new build once a week just by trying to keep My 99 overall... We are NBA players, why the hell We make $1300 VC a game 2k??

Man I remember in 2K19 I believe I won like 35,000 off of a game of dodgeball. And then the rest I earned in my career. It took me about another month and then I won another large amount of VC in dodgeball again. The bills were cheaper if you factor in like 88 overall to 99. Not only that like you're saying brute we were able to earn more VC by just playing the game. Everything you play is at a loss except for reck and Pro-Am. And let's be honest majority of the 2K community doesn't play Pro-Am because that's where a lot of the sweats go. Majority of the community plays park and rec.

That picture of the endorsements on 2K18 isn’t even legit or rather it’s not just do your endorsements and you get this much because the guy has 400 million fans and I remember when that video dropped everyone was wondering what he did.
An entire video was comparing 17 endorsements to 18 and how bad they were now all of a sudden 18 is somehow being used as an example of something good. This is why context is important.

To be real all they have to do is increase the amount of vc you make per game played. Park base should be 600 vc per game and since 5v5 is 3 to 4 times longer than park games we should get a base of 2k to 2.5k vc

2K24 made me want to quit 2K altogether. I’m someone who’s put 750 hours in at least every year. The only reason I’m considering picking up 2K25 is bc I actually use league pass. If I’m gonna spend 100 on the pass, 35 dollars for the new game MAY be worth if they bring back the auction house. That’s my caveat.
Wow, I’m not going to lie. 2K is crazy for making us put more money into the game then how much we bought it for. For example, you pre-order the game for $99. That pre-order only gives you 100,000 VC, then you have to buy more VC just to get your player to a 85 overall, not to mention you have to buy a battle pass for more rewards. Once you go past level 40 and Gatorade boost damn 2K.

There’s no f**kin way that regular people (that don’t work for 2K or Take 2) are defending the monetization model in NBA 2K! There is no other game where you pay full price for the game, at least $50 to create your first character, and another $100 over the span of upgrading that one character… And that’s not even taking into account buying any cosmetics or consistently having to replace the boosts in order to be competitive. Not to mention, 2K nerfing your build into the ground, and not reimbursing you or anything. As much bs as people give Madden and now college football… EA has stuck to the same pay model the entire time. Madden and CFB are both worth the price, 2K absolutely is not!
