@@investingty Simply not true. A steals value is dependent on your supporting cast. If they can't do their job, the steals have no impact. A walk guarantees two things: 1. You aren't getting an out 2. You get on base. A steal has no guarantees except advancing to another base. You mention putting pressure on the pitcher. What if your teammates suck with runners in scoring position? Basically what if they are notorious for not producing with men in scoring position? I have great respect for Judge as a player and a man, and his season has been spectacular, but Ohtani does many things that are superior even when they don't show up in the usual stats line. How many bases did Ohtani steal vs Judge? 58-10. Huge discrepancy, and Ohtani has a record success rate at it compared with others in history with 55+ stolen bases. How does his baserunning affect the other teams when they're on defense--disrupting the pitcher's mindset and putting infielders on edge? He often turns a walk or a single into a double or even ending up on third by steals. On the stats front, Ohtani has more extra base hits and total bases than Judge, and fewer strikeouts. Consider Ohtani's daily regimen as well. Ohtani is known for his daily workout regimen, all while rehabbing from a major elbow surgery. He's doing some pitching prep almost every day and now progressed to throwing at almost full-strength. He has yet to miss more than one or two games this year because of injury despite his at-bats, base stealing and more. (When he was with the Angels, I used to see him getting hit frequently from fouling off pitches to his body, etc.) And though he hasn't pitched in a game this year, Ohtani is an elite pitcher. When he's doing both pitching and hitting at an elite level, he's clearly a superior baseball player and contributor to his team's success. The guy is otherworldly.

I'd say they are equally as terrifying for any pitcher. Can't really put one over the other. Batting, they are both dangerous game changers. For 700 million, he better be this good lol anything less than what he's doing would be a disappointment. On a 10 year 700 million dollar deal, that will age horribly like most of these MLB contracts. Yeah, you'll get your 5 or so good seasons maybe but 10 solid seasons? Not likely. Ohtani is great but he kinda ruined baseball at the same time. One could argue the structure of his deal is borderline cheating. Allowing the super rich Dodgers to grab more top tier players and not going over the cap or breaking the wallet. Not to mention, now he made the market that much harder for teams to get good talent because players are going to compare to his atrocious deal. Sports are becoming a money game and nothing more.

Bet you Soto won't because Ohtani has $50 mill of endorsements to fall back on. Baseball players have never seen that kind of money from endorsements. That's LeBron territory.
