It sounds far more like Disney that Bernstein!

Interesting. I wish we had more information about what this song might have actually sounded like before it was cut from the 1950 Broadway Revival of Barrie's play. Was it originally incidental music that evolved into a song for Wendy? As I understand it, once it had been cut from the 1950 Revival starring Jean Arthur and Boris Karloff, it would not be heard again for another 55-years until Dream With Me was recorded by Lina Eder for a 2005 concert version of the show/score. From what I can tell, it fell to 21st Century arrangers to reconstruct what the song and arrangement might have been a half-century earlier. Perhaps the 21st Century musical palettes were informed by those classic, 1940 - 1959 Disney choral flavors (Pinocchio, Dumbo, Bambi, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty)?

Who has the nerve/cheek to ruin this lovely song by imposing their own misguided arrangement on it!It was a straight simple song, now it has become a muddied garbled version, indeed their diction is so bad we cannot clearly hear the words!Stick to the original.

It's a combination of the room's acoustics and the recording device creating a lot of static, plus recording from too far away from the singers. I'm learning the piece and their diction sounded decent.

A very nice arrangement. Choral directors are always looking for good arrangements of songs that were originally solos. This choir is taking everything much slower than the original solo from the musical. Also, they are missing parts that are not soft enough in contrast to the Mf and F sections.
There are recordings on youtube that feature soloists that do the tempi better.

correction: This choir is taking everything much faster (not slower) than the original solo from the musical. Right here on RUclips there are various solo presentations that are very nice but they are slower.
Aside from that it is still a beautiful song by Bernstein that has been arranged for choir very nicely.

@@meheaton1 Thank you for catching a correcting your misstatement about the tempo. I prefer a brighter pace rather than an indulgent one, I am disappointed that this arrangement did not retain the key change going in to the last verse.

I had hoped I would find a choral version of this lovely song and this did not disappoint (though I would have preferred that they kept Bernstein's luxurious key change towards the end of the piece as it has such an emotionally uplifting payoff.)
