These are the fighters who rely on intelligence, instead of brute strength. Here are 3 ways to increase your IQ within the fight world, whether it's for boxing or MMA. Who do you think is the fighter with the highest IQ?

    I was always told that you cannot learn how to fight by watching videos on RUclips, but ever since I discovered your channel, I must say I've learned quite a bit. I'm sure it's not comparable to going and training at an actual gym, but I finally figured out how to throw punches and shadowbox through your videos and through My Fight Gym's Basic Access videos. I'm certainly much more confident about my movements now than I was before discovering this channel and I'm sure I'll have a much easier time picking things up when I start training at a gym, than I would have earlier.

    Fight I.Q. is knowing what your doing in a fight, and goes beyond your moves and studying other fights to learn. I always make a point to use psychological warfare and my knowledge of manipulation techniques to put myself at an advantage. For example. When fighting always watch your opponents eyes, as more often than not they will be looking where they wanna hit you, so watch their eyes and guard appropriately.

    • @criticalhittcg5637

      Ryan O'Neill Not to belittle your point, but with the same relevance though, you don't want to over-anticipate. I've a had fights where I purposely shifted my gaze because I knew my opponent was watching my line of sight for heads up on what/where I was targeting. Even that can be used as a feint. Personally, I think The body gives away a lot more to intention.

    Ring IQ is about insight, insight in respect of technique, styles and above all in respect of your own strengths and weaknesses and those of your opponent. Insight is usually a gift from someone else, a coach, training partner, role model, some have it naturally. A few critical insights go a long way. Fighting's not that complex at a fundamental level. People are.

    Hey shane. So I've actually been watching and interested about MMA for like 3 years now. I've training MMA a few times but the problem is my coach and there is only 1 MMA gym in my town. The problem with that guy is that I just feel like he's very delusional and very aggressive in a way that you cant ever question what he says or even ask normal questions without him getting kinda angry in a way. And the only thing he teaches is like BJJ, almost never boxing and never wrestling. I wanna compete and eventually go pro but I just dont like my coach and what he stands for. How should I go from here? I'm ALWAYS watching your vidoes and I watch every UFC event and I try to learn as much as possible through the internet where they break down fighters and analys everything. I've been addicted to MMA since I first saw it and I feel like im destined to do this. I'm 20 years old and I just wanna know what I should do. I would appreciate if you took time to perhaps talk to me about it or make a video. Keep it up brother.

      Don't just watch tho practice his solo drills, find partners, and from time to time test yourself against fully resisting opponents. Im training boxing in a gym, but i practice what ive learn from friends who practice other stuff by myself or with them... I wanted to start a new training routine, doing weight lifting one day, grapling arts the next one, caliesthenics the next, next striking arts, plyometrics and overcoming isometrics next, arts that have both grapling and striking next, rest one day, repeat next week... The idea is to go light in all those, im not a pro fighter and i dont need to be one... Do you think this routine is good?

    • @gingercore69
      @gingercore69 6 лет назад

      Btw, for sparing i want to do different rules different times... Like... Grapling day could be sumo rules first, catch rules next, bjj last... Striking day could be boxing first, taekyon rules next, muay thai last... And mixed would be sanda first, shoot boxing next, mma last... What do you think?

    • @centralcoastselfdefense2120
      @centralcoastselfdefense2120 6 лет назад +1

      You mentioned you train in boxing at a gym so if you have a strong background in that then yeah it should be fine but if not then no I wouldn't recommend it here's why...
      You learn through repetition this is why boxers are so good and yet they have very few strikes and don't address so many things that are needed in a street fight.
      If you are only training one art once a week it take a long time to get good and understand the movement therefore most likely you will take years to get a good grip on what your doing and will most likely form bad habits meanwhile... You would be better off learning one extra style at a time and focus on perfecting the fundamentals...
      For instance I started with boxing and learned karate then went back to boxing then learned Muay Thai then went back to boxing then learned wing Chun then went back to Muay Thai and boxing now I'm focusing on jui jitsu and some reality based self defense but still train some of my older styles from time to time.

    • @centralcoastselfdefense2120
      @centralcoastselfdefense2120 6 лет назад +1

      As for sparring keep it light most of time and try to use your current style against the other styles you are sparring... And yeah trying under different rules is a great idea especially if you keep it light

    • @gingercore69
      @gingercore69 6 лет назад

      Central Coast Self Defense thanks, my boxing is kinda good... I used to practice subakdo for years, wich is my "main style" it has a bit of everything... But not much of anything... (its like... 50%kicks 45%punches and 5% standing grapling techniques) i started boxing to have better punching techniques... What i know of grapling outside of subakdo comes from friends who practice judo, bjj and "police self defense" (violent takedowns and wristlocks) my idea is to do sparing with those rules instead of learning those styles in particular... Sooner or later, rulesets will shape the fighters style, right? At least that is what i believe.
