Katie's first one actually happened in my family. My aunt lost a pregnancy and then my mum got pregnant with twins. It caused some tension.

My submission: Tell your friend your going on vacation and simply go out of town for several months. While gone, arrange for a midwife and an at home delivery. Come back once you start labor and knock on their door. Once the friend answers, shove them aside and start the delivery in the middle of their living room.

It's funny that you bring up the Virgin Mary, because I always thought that was probably a very bad pregnancy announcement. Generally speaking, unless you're a doctor, any pregnancy announcement directed AT the woman is probably not a good situation.

The worst way to announce a pregnancy is by getting your identical twin to announce they're pregnant and then everyone gets confused when the wrong twin gives birth
I worked with a women who denied she was pregnant until she had the kid. She cried every time customers asked when she was due, she had a miscarriage several months prior- but didn’t realize it was twins and the non-miscarried twin got “ignored” until she was in labor.
