In this video I tested the ordinary glycolic acid toner for seven days straight, here are my thoughts/ opinion and experience using this toner.
It is recommended to use the toner once a day ideally in the PM, I forgot to mention this in the video.

To anyone reading this:
Please do NOT use this toner for 7 days straight, this is an exfoliant it’s supposed to be applied 2-3 times a week in the evening. Glycolic acid is a very strong acid that penetrates very quickly into the skin so it can be very harsh (especially if you’re new to chemical exfoliation). And do not forget your sunscreen.

@@elliejk84 no, not if used before bed. You should be good as long as you don’t go out in the evening but ideally if you do go out you should use sunscreen

I absolutely love this toner and it’s been my holy grail for years!!! It makes ur skin soooo glowy and bouncy. It also smoothens out ur skin. It’s also not irritating at all (I use it 3 times a week, it’s best not to do it everyday and do it at night) Anyways I hope more people try this out it’s amazing.

Just an advice, you should really not put it on your under eye area, glycolic acid, especially at 7% is quite a strong acid and the skin on the under eye is very thin. Also, glycolic acid is quite drying on the skin and makes your skin more sensitive to the sun so I really recommand that you moisturize your face properly after using it, only use it at night time and put on an spf50 during the day

Yes to everything and no at the same time. Although Glycolic acid is the smallest one of the Alpha hydroxy acids and penetrates deeper in our skin you're not required to use it only at night, specially if you use a retinoid. One does not exclude the other one, and retinoids apart from Adapalene are photosensitive so they can only be used at night. It depends on how well you build your resistance , so at some point you will be able to apply creams, lotions with Glycolic acid just like most anti aging moisturizers which have Mandelic acid, Lactic acid, retinoids etc. If she is newbie then yes! Your recommendations are definitely spot on

I have mostly seen on dr v rattan that glycolic avid is not good for brown skin .. she always suggest lactic acid and mandelic acid
I have used this toner for 6 months. (1 bottle everyday use) and it evened out my skin tone and helped with hyper pigmentation. I have had no issues and just got my second bottle. I also love the AHA and BHA peeling solution for 1x a week. I love the ordinary products thus far.

@@SmallsTrini It is absolutely not fine to use glycolic acid (one of the strongest acid) every single day especially not at 7 percent! Ask any skin professionals (which I am) chemical exfoliants should be used 3 times MAX every week (1-2 times max for stronger acids like glycolic acid) or else you’re compromising the health of your skin barrier.

yea, I’m glad someone said it. Your not supposed to use it everyday. I thought it was a regular toner, but I noticed my skin always started to burn and got irritated. So I actually read it😂and it’s only for professionals. If you use this toner everyday it’s breaking your skin, and peeling off layers because it has glycolic acid and a whole bunch of other acids.
Were you wearing sunscreen? I've been using it for years, everyday and never experienced that

Be careful not to overuse it. It will cause sun sensitivity so a daytime broad spectrum SPF is advisable. It's more than a toner, I think its confusing that they call it a toner, it's an exfoliator really. We need the natural skin barrier and daily use of glycolic could jeopardize it. If am inside the house for days do i still need to use sunscreen?
@@nwaary97 it depends but try to get outside everyday it's good for the soul. Just dont strip the skin's natural barrier with too much glycolic acid, only once a week, and then use a barrier cream and moisturiser before you apply SPF. And of course any other serums you choose to apply.
If I'm outside I wear zinc based SPF everyday, if inside any SPF I have.
Google and see what you come up with. Each person has their own preferences you must find yours. Best to research what works for you.

I personally can't use this toner on my face. I would break out immediately but I use it for my underarms and I notice it becomes lighter in tones
Hi there, I will definitely try this toner once my current one finishes. Could you please let me know any cream to get rid of old scares on my hand and back ( scratch mark,..small burnt marks due to cooking accidents) it’s there on my body for more than a year now and tried coco butter and some other creams didn’t work. Hii I would recommend the aha 30% + BHA 2% peeling solution by the Ordinary. I put it on my dads scar on his forearm and the mark got lighter! Maybe it could help

my dermatologist told me don't rub cotton pads on your skin ,instead try to tap it on to your skin .this technique prevent wrinkles.
Tapping doesn't remove impurities from the skin.Gentle rubbing is great for skin
@@palwashaumar8257 i think toner target isn't removing anything ,it's just make sure that your skin pH is stable.
@@palwashaumar8257 This is an exfoliant it’s purpose isn’t to remove impurities (that’s what cleansing is for). Cotton pads definitely pull on the skin and can cause wrinkles, it’s better to dab the products with your (clean) hands.

personally, i can’t use it everyday. it makes my skin sensitive if i use it too often. i use it once to twice a week and lactic acid on the other days.

Sis please do NOT use this every day. You only need 2 max 3 times a week!!! And only at night! And please wear spf in the morning. It’s called a toner but it’s an exfoliant.

Hi ive actually noticed in your video that the sides of your forhead actually started getting lighter as you used the product..
I tried this one as well a while back and it burnt on my skin even if I gave it time and started using it slowly, it didnt do much for my skin. Which is a bummer since every seem to love it! My skin LOVES salicylic acid though, hehe. Maybe I will try the Glycolic Acid again sometime in the future :D great view
You could also try a softer AHA acid, like mandelic acid or lactic acid.
You can also dilute with distilled or clean water to reduce the harshness or just use every 2 or 3 days
I feel I should give glycolic acid a try, salycilic acid toner break me out every time I use it, I always develop new break outs and it’s soo annoying as I have oily skin

There are sooooo many glycolic acid toners out there. Why zero in on just The Ordinary only?
Most people only need to exfoliate twice per week. Some will need to do if three times per week but it’s not necessary to exfoliate everyday. It can cause skin barrier damage and hyperpigmentation. Especially Glycolic acid...it can cause melanated people to have more hyperpigmentation cause it makes us more sensitive to the sun and causes an overproduction of melanin. It is the consistency of a toner but it is an exfoliant that can even be used just once per week.

It doesn’t matter that it is a “toner”, it has 7% glycolic acid in it. It’s an exfoliant…they make exfoliants in lotions, serums, masks, & toners. There’s someone out there that may be able to use it everyday but for many everyday use will cause skin barrier damage & hyperpigmentation. This is especially harmful for skin of color. Exfoliation shouldn’t be done everyday.

So I bought the toner. And I used it for the first time. This is my first time using any direct acids. So I thought it would be too strong for me and it would burn. But I didn't feel a thing. There was no tingling sensation also. So what is actually happening?

Well it can be used but the percentage is pretty high and underarm skin is pretty sensitive so it might burn the skin more and make it more dark. Opt for a lesser percentage or use kojic acid serum or soaps
