I only want to carry one bag and I don’t want it to way a ton. So yarn, needles, paper pattern, golf pencil, stitch markers, scissors, large safety pen.

🧦 Oh, I use a golf pencil also, topped it with a colorful cap eraser.🤗 My safety pin holds lightbulb 💡markers. 😊

Mini scale - that's genius!!! I use "Altoid Smalls" tins for stitch markers and progress keepers - perfect size for the tiny stuff. Thanks for sharing your outtakes - always so fun!

Oh, altoid tins are so smart!
Thank you, I like including the bloopers

I always have a crochet hook with me as I find it easier to pick up stitches using a hook 😊

Yes! That is actually something I forgot this weekend. 😳

Great tips! I normally have a row counter of some kind in my notions bag too. And a crochet hook (or the little ones with the point on the other end) to fix dropped stitches. Plus with washing my hands all the time, I need a solid hand lotion of some kind.

      Those are great extras!
The knit companion has row counters built in which is why I don't have them.
The crochet hook is something I should've included in my bundle for the weekend, but forgot it. But since I had some extra needles I was able to use those for some dropped stitches.

I have at least one longer length of generic barber cord, coiled up the same round tin you have for stitch markers, since they are fairly cheap for a dozen , I really like to have them for putting stitches on hold and for trying garments on , sometimes I do a wet soak mid project to double check the measurements I got before and after blocking a swatch. Super wash is notorious for growing a bit in length. If I had to slip the stitches on waste yarn one at a time , I probably would be lazier . hahaha I like to just sweep them off the needles then put them back on quickly once done.

I don't travel much so most of my tools are where I do most of my knitting and other crafts. I have a lazy Susan that was originally made for paint brushes and other art tools. I has a big cup shape on the top and two layers down it side with round holes that were for brushes to stand upright. I put hooks and dpns pencils and pens etc. The is a divided tray at the base that hold my other notions like tape measure etc. I'm all about taking something that was created for another use and using if it works else where. Those plastic boxes with drawers you find in the hardware section, work good for sewing motions. I also bought a clear back back on clearance for carrying bigger projects. It was $2. I use the knit companion app too as it saves on printer ink and frustration when my printer acts up (all the time!!)

I love your repurposing for your knitting tools. I also have a little set up at home where I usually knit, basically it's all the contents of my Notions bag but set up in a little tray beside where I need to everything I easily accessed.

I also keep a notions pouch separate from my WIP bags. I like that I can just move it from WIP to WIP and know that I always have everything I need. I keep some longer bits of waste yarn in my notions pouch for splitting sleeves on sweaters, or in case I have to put stitches on hold for any reason. I loved seeing the little peek of your progress on your Lightning Ridge socks!

Yay! I'm glad I'm not the only one who keeps their Notions seperate.
The waste yarn is a great idea. I didn't have any projects close to that point but that's a great idea to include!

I also include in my notions bag a row clicker, a small "fix it" crochet hook, a yarn threader, a flat metal knitting needle gauge with a ruler and point protectors.

  • @crochetknittingaddictionws2580

I have all that except for a scale. You didn't have a crochet hook for drop stitches.

    • @DoSoKnits
      @DoSoKnits  Год назад

Right. I totally don't include a crochet hook. I usually try to pick up all my stitches with my knitting needles if I can 😅

Note - if you are traveling on a plane, scissors need to be 4 inches or smaller. … ask how I know 😢

Oh no!!! At least now you know how large scissors can or can't be

Auto correct makes me crazy * notions not motions and * back pack not back back!!!
