Thanks for your wonderful shout out for my hanging organizer for circulars. They have always sold well, but I've had a ton of sales for them in the past few days. Now I know why! Thanks again and best, Susan from Buttermilk Cottage
i call my main knitting supply kit that sits near my knitting seat, MY MOTHER SHIP. Other smaller kits that i might carry for car knitting, pocketbook knitting, etc, my SATELLITE KITS.
Gauge stitch counting hint - take a photograph with the measure on the item then you can enlarge it on your phone Ps this video is taking me ages to watch as I keep going off to other platforms to investigate the items 😂😂 I’m in the UK so I guess I’m getting ceramic buttons for my cardigans now 🤦🏻♀️
I ordered the circular needle caddy from Buttermilk Cottage. Susie wasn’t aware of the shout out until I let her know. Helped explain why she sold out so fast! Can’t wait to receive mine.
What a fun podcast 😂 please be incredibly proud of yourself regarding how entertaining and informative your podcasts are!! I loved all your ideas and will be purchasing some soon. Thank you for all the hard work to find these shops.
I have the hanging circular needle organizer with the sizes printed on it. Don't remember where I got it, but I have had it for years. I love being able to go get the size needle I want easily. I hung a needle size gauge on it with an old stitch holder that looks like an oversized safety pin, so I can double check when I put them back in - or take one out to make sure it wasn't misfiled.
I'm a multi-crafter. I like to make my own things rather than buy things. Including hand made wooden buttons, either rustic plain or decorated, with my own hardwood I grow myself. It's much more special to me.
I have several of the needle organising cases from Buttermilk Cottage and they are fantastic! The shop owner has made me custom cases for my traveling sets as well & all in the fabric you showed. I can vouch for her products, their quality & usefulness, and her customer service.
I am so glad you included bur oak studios on this list! I live in the neighboring town to her and she is just amazing! Beautiful quality work and she accepts donations of aluminum needles that are no longer being used and would be trashed to make some beautiful designs! Definitely a business worth supporting!
I've bought pony bead lacing to do the stitch holding thing. Also, I love the Handsome Fibers shop. I've bought spinning and knitting things from them. Always ships fast.
creating pins with numbers for the circular needle hanger could be a fun project... that way they would not be permeant and if you needed more than one slot for a size, it would make it flexible.
The way I deal with my stitches if I want to try it on without loosing my stitches. I have two needles the same size. I knit half the stitches on to the second needle. Then I can try on what I'm working on without loosing stitches. Then I just knit across and knit them all back on to the one needle. Love the magnified stitch gage counter.
Wow I totally get the age thing I’m there 43. I use neck led light, my glasses, and love being in natural light and in S. Florida there is sun light every day. I loved all ur finds and thanks for sharing. I’m so enjoying ur channel 🫶🏼
How fun to hear a Danville, Indiana business mentioned in this video! I'm am a fellow Danville resident and love our little town. Going to have to check them out for sure. Loved hearing about all the the accoutrements available to knitting crafters. I have recently rediscovered my love for knitting and love your chatty and informative talks!
My favorite travel knitting kit is the AKERWORKS Knitting and Crocheting Tool Kit. I am not affiliated in any way, I just love it. And my budget hates you for introducing me to that button shop. 😂
Yes, I'm a real WNH viewer 😉. Well done on the editing, Tayler! Your "down the rabbit hole that is Etsy, following those buttons, temporarily "forgetting" about filming" was entertaining to watch. I've had that poster (Knitting keeps me from unraveling) in my Etsy favourites for months - it's so true! 😂
thank you for sharing your button adventure with us 🤣 definitely going to check these shops out! I have a bit of an Etsy problem 🙈 they're just the perfect intersection of beautiful and useful, it's so hard to turn down!
You could easily make the travel tool kit for a lot less than $40. You probably have all these items on hand. I tend to DIY my stuff so I store my circular needles in pencil bags with holes on the size in a large binder. The bags can be purchased at the Dollar Tree and binders are on sale at Walmart when school starts. You can also find binders at Thrift stores on occasion. I tend to want to repurpose items if possible. Finally, isn’t the tubing just another version of the Barber cords that have been around for a long time?
I’m of the opinion that you can diy and repurpose loads of things that you would otherwise spend more for in a shop. However, I love supporting ingenuity and small businesses and that’s a major reason I produced this video. That being said, a video on DIY knitting gadgets may be in order so we can go down that rabbit hole as well. 👍
Hi Taylor! today's podcast was exceptional - such great gadgets & tools on Etsy. I purchased the circs organizer from Buttermilk Cottage last year and love it. Great craftsmanship and by the way, I marked needle sizes with P-Touch tapes. Works just fine!
I’ve had the “Circular Solution” for many years. Love it! There is also a folding “case” that also hangs to store double points. It’s called double points by the Circular Solution. Both are hanging in my closet. Both items have served me well over the years.
Tayler, I too thought that the Circular Solution circular knitting needle storage unit on Amazon was the exact thing I was looking for after having perused Etsy for something ideal and not finding what I was desiring. I have a feeling that it is an independent maker selling through Amazon's platform (though no proof) since I ordered this on March 8 and have yet to receive it. Hopefully, this just means that this indie maker is doing well but it also means that there is a market out there for someone to make MORE of these! 😊 LOVE your podcast. Thank you.
There are other options for the tubing you're talking about. There is the famous "barber cord" that everyone is talking about and using, although it's quite expensive. You can also buy some Pony Bead Lacing from Michaels at a fraction of the price and you get miles of it. Thanks for the interesting suggestions!
Yes! I hear a lot about barber cord. Is that hollow tubing? I know the significance of this is that it’s hollow so you can slip it on your needle tips. I need to look into the barber cords. Thank you!
Ive also seen the "Try It On" cords used to hold stitches when you split for sleeves or just have a need to put something on hold. Its a lot easier than threading waste yarn.
All my "tool" kits are actually makeup bags that I purchased at a 2nd hand store - however, they were unused and I didn't even have to wash them. there are so many zippers and elastic pockets which were used for different size brushes, I think.
Also, I recently acquired my deceased mother's charm bracelet which I'm working to turn into stitch markers. This way, she is always with me when I knit. She "sort'a" knit.
I have “Barber Cords” for transferring stitches from my needles. The cords come in many colors and in a set of 3. One long one to hold the body stitches, and two to hold the stitches from each sleeve. Hate to say this, but I think the ones that you have found are a knock off of the Barber Cords. Anyway, I have used them many times with great success.
I have 2 of the Circular Solution sleeve-needle-storage units hanging in my closet - the tabs at the top go around the bottom bar of a coat hanger. They are great! I can always find the size I need. Since I pull each needle through until it’s centered, I can also tell which cables are longer by how far down the tips hang.
"That would be frivolous" ... Is it though? Sometimes, accessories are the hardest thing to find, so if you love something, get it and keep it until you find the perfect project for it. This is how crazy quilts get their parts.
Tools, notions, bits and bobs and organizing said bits is my favorite part of crafting! Wow those buttons. I would get those and just look at them. I dont think i could ever commit them to a sweater. I havent yet made anything beautiful enough to deserve hand painted buttons. A new goal has been set. I have been searching for a suitable tubing to make extensions there must be a jewelry supply or cord that would work.
BE CAREFUL with the needle tubing (sometimes called barber cords). I recently was using them and slid my stitches a little too fast, making the tube pop off my needle and it dropped a bunch of stitches
Wait.... there's a guage ruler that magnifies??!! 😲😲😲 And just saying that one can get spools of small diameter silicone tubing for cheap from a certain mass online retailer. 😉
Hi Taylor, When you were sharing your roll up notions bag, I noticed some bread bag plastic closure pieces. I was wondering what you use those for. Thanks!
The tubing could also be recycled intravenous tubing. I'm not sure if the tubing in hospitals is able to be sterilized and reused with a new patient but they go through hundreds per day.
Be CAREFUL with ceramic buttons!!!! They can be very heavy and will pull your button band totally out of shape so your button band ends up looking very wavy. Check to see how much they weigh and bear in mind how "firm" your button band is. Sorry if I am bursting your bubble Tayler!!
If you back the button with a plain flat button on the other side it can help, though it won't prevent dropping or pulling altogether. You'll often see this done on good quality jackets or coats.
Darn you! As if yarn unboxing vids aren't tempting enough, now you're bringing Etsy into it. As if I need any more excuses to spend more money on my "hobby"! Nope, not gonna do it, not falling for it. That's a big nope. *whistles innocently and adds magnifying ruler to cart*

"Button Shangri-la" took me out! Who knew? Laughing & laughing!
I ordered the circular needle caddy from Buttermilk Cottage. Susie wasn’t aware of the shout out until I let her know. Helped explain why she sold out so fast! Can’t wait to receive mine.
The music overlaid on the button rabbit hole moment was masterful 😂❤😊
❤️❤️❤️
Love this! If you’re in a pinch, the try it on tubing is also at craft stores in the bead sections. Called “pony cords”!
I was going to comment the same - I use pony cords and they work perfectly.
What a fun podcast 😂 please be incredibly proud of yourself regarding how entertaining and informative your podcasts are!! I loved all your ideas and will be purchasing some soon. Thank you for all the hard work to find these shops.
Thank you so much Pam. That means a lot! ❤️❤️
The original cords from The Knitting Barber work great. Best invention, makes it so easy to move stitches. Thank you for another great episode.

I just ordered the try on tubing from this exact seller. Shipping was extremely fast and the product was packaged very nicely.
Knitting barber cords have become readily available and are inexpensive and make trying sweaters in progress are and come in beautiful fun colors.
The tubeing is just a clear silicone tube you can get at a hardware store. It can be used for aquariums.
Fun trip down the 🧶🐰 🕳️
I have several of the needle organising cases from Buttermilk Cottage and they are fantastic! The shop owner has made me custom cases for my traveling sets as well & all in the fabric you showed. I can vouch for her products, their quality & usefulness, and her customer service.
That case makes me think of old glasses cases that I have that might be useful for a tool kit.
I have the artifacts bag yarn tender. It is super well made and so useful. Their products are fantastic and I cannot say enough good things about them
I am so glad you included bur oak studios on this list!
OMG! I laughed so hard at the button waffle, I dropped stitches. Worth it. So 🤣. Thank you Taylor!

same!
Bespoke buttons!
Fun stuff, thank you!
All very intriguing. That magnified gauge helper is a must have. I will order.
Fun episode, Tayler! I really appreciate your creativity and thoughtfulness of content. ♥
I loved this podcast! I’m always looking for “aids” to help with my craft. Please do more midweek rambles like this Tayler. ❤❤
This was so fun! And dangerous!! 😂
Now we all have our Christmas lists ready 😂
Aaaand…you’re welcome. ❤️
Absolutely recommend the Circular Solution, it’s so tidy and easy to access!
I’ve had to hide my circular needle caddy. The cats thought they were a new toy!

Fun podcast as always Tayler, loved those buttons 😍Thankyou so much x
Thank you for watching Celine!
@@WOOLNEEDLESHANDS you are such a breath of fresh air, don’t ever change 💕
42 here… and that gauge ruler!!! Yes!
I always love your post, but I really enjoyed seeing these little notions that you came across! Thanks for sharing…now I’m on a mission! Lol!

Those ceramic buttons are so beautiful! The shop also makes earrings and necklaces, just saying 😅
12:12 the EZ PZ Gauge Ruler is made of acrylic, but honestly that makes it so much easier to work with!
I’m with you on the buttons! I kind of want to knit a cardigan just so I can get those buttons.
The circular solution seems to be super easy to diy if you can sow a streight line 🤔
For the try on tubing....Screening spline (little black tubing used to put screen in a frame) from the hardware store works great!
Your funny when you were looking at those buttons. I can’t say anything I can be the same way. The birds were cool, I love birds, dogs, sunflowers…
thank you for sharing your button adventure with us 🤣 definitely going to check these shops out! I have a bit of an Etsy problem 🙈 they're just the perfect intersection of beautiful and useful, it's so hard to turn down!
I have this gauge ruler and it’s made of plastic but I absolutely love it!
Supercute stuff here! I see why you went into Etsy la-la land--there is wonderful stuff there. Thanks for sharing your finds with us!
I have the barber tubes for trying on sweaters, silicone tube
Always love your recommendations. I bought the super-knitter painting for my craft room and it’s one of my favs!
I swear by my Easy Peasy gauge tool! It will make a huge difference in your ability to count stitches and rows.
I have the gauge ruler and I LOVE it! I can’t wait to check out the rest of these suggestions!

Great podcast with a lot of meaningful ideas that most of us are interested in and been looking for. Thank you.
Years ago, I purchased a circular needle hanger. I love it. I keep it on a hanger. Thank you for always providing such great information
I’ve had the “Circular Solution” for many years. Love it! There is also a folding “case” that also hangs to store double points. It’s called double points by the Circular Solution. Both are hanging in my closet. Both items have served me well over the years.

You are so funny 😂 I do the same thing when I'm window shopping on etsy lol the button segments were 10/10
I love this! You and I have some identical tastes on etsy...NEARLY every option you showed is in my favorites list. Great minds, eh?
Definitely will have to LOOK into the magnifying gauge counter!! Thank you for these awesome shares
Ahhh I NEED that gauge ruler!

I have the needle hanger. It is nice.
Good timing. It’s my birthday next week 🎉
Happy early birthday!!! 🎉🎉

Those are Barber cords. Very popular
They’re definitely following the same concept, but these are far less sticky if that makes sense.
Great finds…thank you for sharing!!
And macarons are delicious!
Thanks!
Thank YOU! ❤️
Great video thank you 😊
I can't believe it, I've been saying hello, hello when I see someone.
BE CAREFUL with the needle tubing (sometimes called barber cords). I recently was using them and slid my stitches a little too fast, making the tube pop off my needle and it dropped a bunch of stitches
…. And I can probably imagine the actual words that were uttered upon making this discovery. Soo frustrating. 🤬
I couldn’t find the shop that had the wall art, but it looks like there are a couple other shops that sell that print
Wait.... there's a guage ruler that magnifies??!!
Thanks!
Hi! Yes! I use those as bobbins for my yarn tails. ❤️
@@WOOLNEEDLESHANDS what a clever idea! Thanks!
Great video. Lots of cool things to add to my collection. The tube and the magnifier are things I need.
The tubing could also be recycled intravenous tubing. I'm not sure if the tubing in hospitals is able to be sterilized and reused with a new patient but they go through hundreds per day.
If anyone knows of a magnifying swatch/stitch ruler in the UK, please let me know. The EZ one is over $16 for shipping to here. ThanX
F'yi- The EZPeeze Gauge ruler is unavailable at the link you shared. So sorry, will try to find another vendor.

Hi Taylor. Very cool finds! Love them all. Thanks for sharing with us!😊🤗
So so true. I’ve spent way to much money on Etsy for buttons that were to heavy
This is an excellent point! Thank you!
Also sometimes they can’t go in the washer without being damaged. Ask me how I know.
Panache -- the word you are looking for re buttons?
Oooo yes! A perfect word!
anndddd I bought 3 of these before the video ended...
Yay! 😁 ❤️❤️
Not age, imho. I'm 20 years older and for me, it really depends on a lot of other factors...
The needle tubes would also be a good alternative to needle "stoppers". Sorry, brain fart on the real name lol
Me? Watching the mid-week ramble within an hour of it being posted? Who am I?
Love it though!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Haha I am here too.😊

I just found you and this was way too much fun! Off to shop & then return to watch more of your channel as I knit. 🧶
