Believe they were choir boy and girl of the year that year?!?! Just shows the AMAZING quality of vocal talent britain consistently brings through its cathedral choirs!! Yeah - way to go!
Hi. I actually just sang in my local parish church and was not a member of a cathedral choir. I think I was one of the only winners to have came through this way ❤️
What wonderful singing from both of these very talented young people. I have sung this song many times, and I've yet to sing it through with out tears. Just lovely. Thank you for shareing.
Wow. Fabulous. One of my absolute favourite pieces of modern sacred music, but I'd never heard it done as a duet before. Michelle and David, that was exemplary. Thanks for such a beautiful performance. And many thanks to wem3 for uploading it. :-)
Before changing their voices boys are generally sopranos. Nothing wrong with it. It is clear to see that these two kids are vocally trained, wonderfully trained! They show confidence and perfect dominion/control of their voices, especially on the high notes. Magnificent job!
The girl is now called Michelle Hannaway, married of course - her voice is amazing and she is such a stunning woman. You can hear her singing all over Ireland but in particular in Belfast.
I did this my junior and senior year. One of the guys in my choir had to learn all four parts. Soprano, Alto, Tenor, AND Bass. It was crazy hearing someone 17 hitting the high notes!
Woah... That is intensley amazing... Beautiful singing on both parts but David in particular.... his voice just sparkles. Some credit to the venue acoustics but through and through... Pretty jealous of their voices
by girls is somehow other, they learn to use their falsetto, but tenors are using mainly their chest voice.its rare, who can use his falsetto like his chest voice. this boy used it sometimes here
No, the girl, dosn't suck. [Except for oxygen, but at the correct breathing intervals.] She is not as pure in tone as the boy soprano. But, for all that, she sucks not at all. Both are very talented young people. indeed!
keebearfull thank you. I was 15 at the time and a high soprano. Singing a lower part always tends to give a richer tone and requires much more support (for me) from the diaphragm, so I worked it!
Hi Terry. I'm a very high soprano and don't believe I have demonstrated any of my top notes for you to make an assessment of how pure they are or not? Also John Rutter wrote the piece for a treble to take the top line and soprano the lower line of the two. As for faking it, I was singing live and with passion at 15 years old. Support and encouragement is what young people need today, not snide remarks. Kindness and positivity. Morally questionable for you to run a young talented person down, particularly if you claim to be listening for spiritual reasons.
@@michellehannaway4302 Not meaning to offend you If . boys' voices are trained properly they are always of a purer tone than female voices. If you wamt to make a career in music you have to be preoared for criticism
@@michellehannaway4302 Firstly John Rutter wrote this excellent piece for four part T (or S)ATB not Treble and Soprano. You sang as though it was a performance and not an act of worship. Furthermore it is not for you to say you are talented... that is for others to judge, and for the record I don´t disagree that you are gifted. One thing a worship musician should not entertain is pride and it seems I have given your pride a knock. The point you missed is that properly-trained treble voices always have a much purer tone than soprano voices.... The purest soprano voice I have ever heard is Andrea Haines form Voces8..... You may not welcome my comments but I don`t need your permission to do so....
Nicely sung...but the conductor is really distracting and annoying...practically tap dancing while he flails his hands about. Maybe he was just inexperienced or nervous...
It's been 11 years by this day and I still search for this song and so glad I found it. Yes the Lord will bless us and keep us. Amen❤❤❤
Absolutely stunning performance. What talented young singers. May the Lord bless them and keep them under His wings all their lives.

amazing! I am in a church choir and we sing this. What an inspiration. I am only 12 and yet this is one of my favourite songs now.... so spiritual.
Wow. Fabulous.

this is so touching! Such a precious and inspiring moment.
John Rutter’s songs have always been my favorite benediction.
This is Awsome! God has blessed both of them with tremendous voices. I am sure they have also worked very hard to sound that good.
Beautiful! This is my favorite Rutter piece! Tears are actully building in my eyes. Beautiful!!

this song is nicely done by the two young singers. i can't believe that the boy has that brilliant high voice. they are angelic indeed!
Wow! I've never heard anything like this before. They are amazing..a glimpse of heaven's choir.
The girl is now called Michelle Hannaway, married of course - her voice is amazing and she is such a stunning woman. You can hear her singing all over Ireland but in particular in Belfast.
awesome! breath taking! God bless these these talents , and keep them in his church!

WOW im blown away, the girl sings so good!
Bravo! Bravissimo! This is one of my favorite songs.
I did this my junior and senior year. One of the guys in my choir had to learn all four parts. Soprano, Alto, Tenor, AND Bass. It was crazy hearing someone 17 hitting the high notes!
This is just "Beautiful"....So spiritual.....Thank you so much for sharing....
Thank you for posting this! There are almost no recordings of the 2 part version online! Thank you so much!
Great performance!!!
Very positive performance and beautifully done. He is close to moving from boy soprano to a great tenor. Immaculate for the two of them.
Not "boy soprano"... sopranos are girls. He was a treble.
Thanks, I believe I never saw a live performance of master David Wigram
before this one.
wow, what a blessing, what a performance!
though the recording quality is low, both of them sing really very well! May the Lord really bless and keep everyone:)
They are agood singer.
Very good!
My favourite Hymn beautiful

its really distorted... is that just my computer?
@sherbetstraw no it's mine too!

by girls is somehow other, they learn to use their falsetto, but tenors are using mainly their chest voice.its rare, who can use his falsetto like his chest voice.
this boy used it sometimes here
nice soprano man!
I think it must be the microphones/recording, or else both the boy and the girl have a bad frog in their throats!
Numbers 6:24,25,26
Very nice performance, but I still prefer the version with piano and choir...

I liked it but its pretty confusing how the girl had the lower notes and the guy had soprano notes lol.
So glad that David got the higher part... more purity on those top notes....... Michelle seemed to be almost fakiing it, putting on a show.....

Not when you're critiquing something you haven't actually heard. Ha! You go right ahead and try to justify your negativity, but it's not wanted here.
