The words you have written are beautiful, moving, & sad . I am saddend by your suffering Colette, but those sad times have made you in to the beautiful, strong, caring woman you are today. Bright Blessings to you xxxxx
That is a very profound and deeply felt piece of writing. You've allowed the metaphysical properties of self-reflection to alter the course of time in your life. The past informs the present and alters the future. In essence, you are a time traveler -- able to wield the most magnificent powers of intellect, vulnerability and introspection. The exposition of your inner world to the outer world connects with social, cultural and political philosophy. Never let it be said that the individual cannot shake the foundations of psyche, spirit and civilization to their core. You're an autoethnographer in every way! Love to you.
This moved me so deeply, Colette. Thank you so much for sharing this very personal writing. It has given me insight into what formed you into the very special woman you have become. Bless your mother's memory and bless you.
Thank you for sharing your brave vulnerability with us all. This has been a gift. I hear you read your poetry. My mind filled with its imagery as you speak. Your stories.... Irish stories...Echoing things of the heart which resonates here with me, in India. Human stories shared. Thank you and blessings. You dwell so well within, Colette. Thank you for sharing that with us.
Thank you, Colette, for sharing this part of you. The ability to touch the hearts of those who listen, is a rare thing. Selfishly, I hope you will, at some time, share more...as the spirit moves... only as the spirit moves.
We are close in age. And I was late to college as well. A single mother. I have saved my writings and have experienced some awe and surprise upon rereading. What you say about our essence being there, fine tuning as we travel through the years, certainly resonates. The continuity of the soul and the beauty of the Self emerging is sacred. Thank you so much for sharing your heart and soul with us. You are a very dear person.
Dearest colette. The prose & poetry reflects a woman who bears her soul to all. I can relate. I am also a survivor who has lived many lifetimes in this present one. I believe while so many others wear their cloaks to show who they really r u remain a constant beacon of light to all. I have no children or siblings except my beloved husband of 37 years & my 7 cats. May precious rainbows fill all your days!
Thank you for this magic time of reading your early poetry. Such sadness... The neutral tone of your writing and reading, has elicited a hugely emotional response from me, your listener. The memories of myself as a little girl, worried about the fate of Limbo babes, always trying to obey all the church rules, watching those I knew, die of alcoholism, the struggles of living in a family of seven children. Your love of Mother Nature's inclination to return to even the potholes in your London lane. Wonderful. Thank you, Colette.
Many among us have experienced profound sadness but if there is a positive side, it really molds us to be who we are and allows most of us to really appreciate and create better living. After hearing some of the painful stories, especially from my female relatives and acquaintances, it helps to better understand who they are today and have compassion for people in general. Look at what all has come from where you’ve traveled. As the saying goes, what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. This is why we must push through the tough times and not be pulled under by them. Thank you for sharing this very personal part of you.
"Warmthwave" straight from the heart, stripped of all artifice (vague de chaleur en provenance directe d'un coeur dépouillé de tous ses artifices). That is what has travelled all the way here, as I listened to you. Sending blessings and warmth back to you.
just. wow. You know, (as Patrick said of your work,) your time at Bealtaine has been that same marvelous mix of prose and poetry. I am better for having witnessed it.
Dear Colette, I have to admit that sometimes I watch your videos late at night and will have them on a constant feed because your voice is so soothing. It envelopes me like the comfort of a well loved warm blanket. If I should fall into slumber I quite often awaken to hear your lovely voice and see Jack’s smiling face! 🐕. I am sure I’ve heard this reading before today as I’ve watched most all your videos at least once, however what a blessing it was to be awakened at 5am Arizona time and see this particular video playing on my phone. I sat and watched and listened and cried a bit at the wonderful descriptions of days gone bye. Blessing’s to Angel Kathryn. I hope I spelled her name correctly. 🙏🏽❤️. Please know that you are so enjoyed and loved by this regular viewer in particular. Your going to laugh, but I purchased your book early this year as a present to myself upon moving to a new place. I have not even finished reading it! I feel like I MUST take it slow and only glimpse at parts to make it last longer. Lol. Silly I know. I will finish it this week and then, as I usually do, read a good book over and over again. I think you may consider your next endeavors to include audio versions as well? Not only did Mother Earth become blessed to have you as a devoted and loving steward, but we are blessed as well. Good day to you Jack and all the lucky birdies. 😊
Colette thank you for sharing such a personal, emotive part of your life, gosh I feel very moved. You are a true blessing to me and obviously to so many. Your passion, commitment, sense of justice, of devotion to your animals, to Beltaine, to Mother Earth continue to inspire and motivate me on my journey through life. Thank you. Blessings ❤🐕💛🐈🧡🐈🌲💚🌿💜🍃💙
Wow Colette, such beauty and emotion in your writing! I am so thrilled that I ordered your book just yesterday, and strangely moved by the fact that your first poem was written en 1972, the year I was born! You have a beautiful writer's soul. Bless you. Béatrice from France
You are a wonderful, mighty woman. Blessings mistress, I am forever grateful to have found you and ever thankful for you and your wonderful life and journey that you share with the world. 🙂💜🌱
I enjoyed this so! Thank you Dear One! So touching it was that I was transported to that place and time! Thank you again! The past is who we were then with what we knew then! It explains the old saying that you can never go home again! We are changed by our experience out of there and often they have not or they have but not quite in the same way that we have! You are a treasure in so many ways! 🍃 Hi Jack! 🍃🌻🍃
Thank you for sharing all this. Although so sad, your poetry is really beautiful. My heart goes out to your mum and to you for the pain it must have caused you xx
Interesting poetry! My mother grew up in Scotland, one of eleven children and was always poor, she quit school in 4th grade to work and help take care of the family... brings back memories...I wish her life could have been easier 😔
Missed you Collette, You truly have a gift for putting your thoughts and experiences into writing, thank you for trusting us and with sharing such intimate details of your life, friends and family. We each hold a catalogue of memories from our past that have melded and shaped us into the amazing people we have become today. The people we have loved and shared our lives with live on through us as we remember them and bring to our minds little snippets and snapshots of their time shared with us. Good to have you back home with us again at Bealtaine Cottage. Blessings and hugs from Megan x :)
Thanks for reading from your writings. I don't have anything from back then and I wrote journals full and am a writer still, yet many of my books were stolen, taken or forgotten. Sadly, most of my words stay in my head now. Makes me remember that nothing here in this world can be taken with us... It's what we leave behind that counts. 💕🍄🌿
Listening to your poems Colette. I feel your soul has found peace there in your beautiful surroundings. Beautiful writing - you are very talented. So glad your professor in college ac knowledged that. Peace and tranquillity. Ann x
Thank you for sharing from your heart. The tears were streaming down my face as you read of your mother’s experience. Then I was remembering being accepted at a local college as an older student with children and the fear I felt on my first day. It’s all part of our individual stories. Blessings.
Thank you for sharing these wonderful and intimate writings. I was brought to tears. Jack seemed to feel it too. He was so calm, listening to his mom read about her life.
Dear Wise woman Colette! I so appreciate hearing your posts, words, and sharing of your feelings, experiences, life, thoughts and memories. Thank you! Blessed Be.
What a rich tapestry your life is and how beautifully you embroider the page with your words about it. Very moving, a stillness came over me. The sadness we all carry somewhere. I'm glad your home with Jack, Sammy bear and Beauty. Thank you for sharing your words and experiences x
I just discovered this video, a little over a year after it was published. What a treasure. Colette, I believe that not only your work, but your words will live on for many years. Yours is one of those rare spirits -- poetic and prophetic -- that are not always valued in their own time.
My parents both grew up poor too...my dad started working in the coal mines at age 9. He worked alongside his father. Moms family was beyond poor. It's too sad to think about. Yes, America had dire poverty back then. I imagine we still do in certain parts...Thanks for sharing Colette. Jack looks at you with such love.
I'm listening to this for the second time.... I'm in tears hearing you read touching memories and poems from your early life. You give many beautiful details leaving me vivid images. Lovely.
You picked the perfect spot to read those words from your past. Thank you so much for the gift of them. :) I remember 1972. (I'm a couple of years younger than you) That was the year I had to leave school to go to work. I wasn't at all sorry, school learning never held my attention for long, and I was too young to realise what that meant ... I too got into university as a mature age student, (not bad for a high-school dropout) and again came to the realisation that academic learning wasn't for me. Interesting how these things go around. :)
Thank you so much for sharing Colette , it made me cry . Please read some more to us if you can , it was beautiful to listen to . . It was written from deep within your heart . Blessings to you all xxxx
Thank you for sharing your beautiful words and memories with us all 💚 Heartbreaking at times and thought inspiring at others, this was a deeply moving video and as always you fill my soul with awe xx
I have also just discovered this video. Thank you for the share, Colette. The writing is beautiful, the stories bring a reality from times past - I can recognise echoes of similar old tales from my family's past - and it is wonderful to see how your life course has ultimately held true throughout. A treasure indeed.
