Hey there,… I’m just chiming in here,… no offense 🙏 I’m here on the West and have been fishing for Stripers since I was 8,…I’m 63 now and still at it ,.. and I use a 15’ 10wt. Spey…. 50lb. mono leader and perhaps a dropper loop for a secondary fly and any Clouser , Deceiver fly will be ideal … but to each his own… that’s pretty much the standard issue set-up for Stripers in the surf 👍😎🤙
Never fished stripers but am going this year , what’s your line set up ? Heaviest switch I have is a 7wt Sage 1 11’6” use it for steelhead and silvers with a Skagit set up . Could not tell how you have yours lined . Looks like a lot of fun
Great footage, that double header was sweet! 25 strips and recast, most of the takes happens between 12 and the10 first strips 🤔 Lot of info to only be watched once 👌 I think you can play less line and you will stay in the game for longer. Awesome clip! Best Mag
Is it Striper time yet? How do you think next month will be? I watch your videos multiply times and can’t wait to try to catch one on the fly. When’s your next video?
great video.can you please tell me what rod and size you are using. I have a galvan grip reel G-10 that I use on a 9weight 9 foot scott tidal rod. I use that set-up for striper fishing on the east coast.I would like to get a two hand fly rod but I am not sure which set-up to get.
Chris Florea so for mainly stripers I’d suggest either 7w/8w switch. I’m using a 12’6 6wt in this video, but I’d up the wt for a dedicated striper rod, especially on the east coast!
@@epraskin thank you for the information. I still have about 6 or 7 weeks until the stripers show up in New York. The striped bass season opens on April 15. Thanks again and tight lines.
May I know what kind of fly line are you using on this video? I’m trying to decide between an integrated fly line over a shooting head, which is better for two-hand casting.? Thanks!
zekefly I actually use both, but in this video I was throwing the Rio outbound short custom T14 cut to 30’ head. 30’ of leadcore or t14 works great on a running line as well, personal preference.
Gotta love those grey days. What set up are you using- reel and rod etc. Also couldn’t quite make out the fly.

that will work perfect with a surf shooting line or shooting head/ running line combo such as those made by rio
Surf guitar goes perfectly with surf fly chuckin'.
John Madert haha😎🤙🏻

Great fish!! I'm planning on trying it out this summer. Are there any good spots in Santa Cruz?
And how far are you usually casting?

Is this video about music or fly fishing?
It’s all about music if you couldn’t tell, the fly fishing just gives you something to look at while listening duh
