I had such a hard time finding any information on pessaries when I was about to get fitted for one. I appreciate you making these videos and I wish more information was out there!!
Thank you so much for this very informative video. My Dr. explained that he wanted me to remove it daily but said however, he has patients who leave them in for several weeks with no problems and it was my personal choice. I didn't really want to remove it but did on his orders... after I replace it, I'm going to keep it in for at least a week at a time and see how it goes because while I did have it in, I felt so much better (both mentally and physically)...And now after watching your video, I'm not feeling as anxious. Thank you!
Just got one today and my doctor told me to take it out every week to clean and leave it out over night and put it back in the next day to be worn for another week.
I have no uterus and have a prolapsed virginal. I have been using a pessary for several years. I can remove and clean it myself. After a few days I experience spotting. I am 75 and a breast cancer survivor. My tumors were estrogen dependent and I can’t use the estrogen lubricants. Can you recommend a product to use? The inserts prescribed for me clearly state no use by breast cancer survivors.
Excellent video. So very helpful although having been fitted with one recently I am amazed that anyone would be able to remove it and replace it oneself. It was very painful to have it fitted and the GP used a lot of force to put it in. There is just no way I would be able to do it myself. I was told to return in 3 months. It's just about doing it's job.
I've been fitted three times now and was a bit perturbed that the doctor said to leave it six months before returning. I didn't feel happy with that length of time, I think it starts to feel itchy after a few months. However, have just removed it as this newly fitted one is causing the same pain as the previous. I think it could well be part of the prolapse problem that wasn't being helped by the pessary but time will tell. It's a relief now to get it out, if not disappointing. I think I'll be enroute to a second surgery.
My doctor who fitted me yesterday has me removing mine daily. It was very easy. I was fitted twice before but neither knew what they were doing. It practically pops out if I bear down.
Can changing a pessary too often at home cause you to have tearing in the vaginal walls is it too harsh ? I think I’m having spotting due to the Premarin cream which I’m not happy about I’m going to stick with another vaginal moisturizer cream over-the-counter and try that . It’s a double edge sword because my gynecologist says that I need the Premarin cream and yet when I take it very often I have spotting trying to have a period at 67 years old I’m not doing it plus I know there’s a chance the cervical cancer taking that cream what is your opinion?
How about leaving it in longer? My doctor has prescribed an estrogen cream as well but due to the risks, I'll be using it very sparingly. And i mean very sparingly. I'm also going to start keeping the pessary in place for much longer periods of time. Maybe even a couple of wks. I figure that if i don't feel it and I'm not having any irritation, all must be well. Good luck to you.
Depends what shape you have. Mine is the round ring type and I leave it in during sex and it's not a problem. You can leave your pessary in for 2-3 monthes at a time.

Clean it with what??
Do you know anyone in the Myrtle Beach SC area who is good at fitting pessaries
Thank you! This is all new to me.
Thank you so much you answered so many questions
Thank you dear.
Good
Thank you. Very informative. Please answer whether intercourse is possible with pessary in place.
Definitely not, you need to remove it. It’s just too big and too rigid! It’s never been a problem to take it out and reinsert before and after sex.

What if it gets stuck how do you remove it yourself.
If it has holes you should be able to hook your finger in the hole and pull it out. You might want to lubricate the vagina first.

I wish she didn't call herself a "Kegel Queen." I don't want to visualize her doing Kegels.
Far too quiet!
