Part of Aoi leaving the "glamorous" business of cooking at the high-end was her realizing that eventually someone would play dirty and topple her, just as they did to Paul. She remembered Paul's warning about the hardships of staying at the top.
A bit dumb to be honest, no one play dirty. The chef commit a crime, and crimes need to be denounce. Aoy should said that the moment she left on she is involved in the crime as well
I don't know if it's done on purpose but I like how they make the rich characters eat almost like animals. They're so decadent and messed up. Meanwhile the poorer characters make a point about eating politely.
That perfectly illustrates people's attitudes towards food, the poor are often grateful for each meal, appreciating it's taste without pretense. The rich are completely different, gratitude is not even involved, they often pay many times what the food is worth just for things like "who prepared it" or if it's "exotic" or not, even the taste is subjective, like when he was a kid and broke the tasteless but expensive caviar. The way the rich eat illustrates that, they aren't eating food, they are eating the "concept", the "elitism", the soup they appreciate so much is just some cup noodle spices and veggies, just like all the money people pay just for something like salt bay or gold coated food, those has absolutely no taste but people pay many times the price of the food just for the "concept".
Yeah...if a chef said it's because of the experience the food will taste great I'll literally stand up and leave that place... Nothing beats home cooked food...at least you know it tastes great.
Both of you think you’re righteous for having one category of food. Y’know the great thing of those who can afford the more expensive experiences? We can do both. Enjoy the humble food AND what you’re ridiculing for merely being expensive and tasteless.
Is not tasteless and the little portion is to help your digestion and not saturate your taste with just one dish so you can "experience" all the others. About price, it might be true. Sometimes they use very expensive ingredients and sometimes they use the most basic ones and still charge the same
The scene at 10:40-10:50 is just well-depict how rich class are living. Good heart and humble makes wise choice. There’s always someone who wanted to serve high class
I understand aoi, money cant give you happiness and more. Rich people spend money on expensive food, not thinking of themselves, i feel bad for aoi working so hard in hunger it just doesn't feel right , the past happens, in the future you feel bad, it means aoi was never comfortable with hunger the fact she left to her restaurant (her dads) would be the only choice since she has nobody but her family, even tony, all i know is aoi wanting to be a good chef, when you work hard it feels wrong serving for people spending their lives partying not doing things right you only cook and listen to the law it would make you more successful and stronger, thats it
Well, it's a bit true when it comes to food esp. the differences on foods being served on wealthy classes compared to those regular or the masses. Coz the more expensive the food is the lesser it tastes like nothing or bland yet those wealthy people pretentiously praises every dish just for the sake of keeping within the circle of their influence or status. The more the wealthy the customer the lesser the food they serve and taste bland but the prices are absurdly too expensive. Example : caviar, foie gras, ice cream made with golden flakes ..etc. Sad but True.
I feel like it still depends on the type of people, the kind of food, and their tastes There are also many food/ingredients that are simply better tasting because they are expensive. Like grade A vanilla beans vs vanillin, kobe wagyu vs regular beef, high end consomme vs beef stock, etc. Also a real foodie wealthy people (not ones that seek for an experience) might avoid gold flakes, diamonds, and whatnot altogether because they already knew it was a scam. And not all regular food are more complex, some are even blander than water to cut the costs and maximize profit. Like those starchy fake custard filled choux, hard pudding that are made with lots of agar2 and sugars, meatballs that are like 70% flour, etc. That is not to say i don’t enjoy regular food, or absolutely love expensive ones. I just think good, neutral, and bad food exist in every socioeconomic level. I do agree though that often status, price, and scarcity put food in a place where they don’t truly belong
yeah... with restaurants it's the same as clothing and cars and well most things out there. The more money you spend the better stuff you get up to a limit after which the amount of money spend most often decreases the quality as decadence and vanity replace any sensible need and taste.
lmao that is completely untrue, not to be petty but someone would only say that if they haven't done a lot of fine dining. there are plenty of "expensive foods" that are brimming with flavor.. but yes caviar totally sucks and is overrated
That's what I call strong female character. Humble, stoic, sensible, never tries to make men around her unworthy, even though the boss acts like shit. I love Aoi and the actress is amazing!
I love how as the movie progresses you can see how drained and soulless she becomes towards cooking and at the end you can tell she's still broken inside but theres a chance she'll learn to love it again
Well, you can actually cook it in a similar manner. Just not by setting it on fire, and it's going to take a while. While the cow would be getting cooked, she could have prepared a 7 course meal and with time to spare.
Nah. Asia has some cooking movies, in which the main character is disillusioned by job. It's more common than you think. Hollywood is not always the first.
Maybe it is because we are poor. Maybe it is the overpriced menus. Maybe that is why i was never fond of much extravagant foods. A simple noodles, momos and fish cury with rice.
I watch this movie and saw reviews. Honestly, there’s no real difference between fancy cooking and common cooking people pay extravagant money have all these fancy professional chefs, but in the end doesn’t mean anything when you don’t really taste the real flavor of it heck I even question if the chef Paul himself even likes to cook, it’s seems more like a revenge story to get it. Just get people to follow his every win like there’s no soul to it and that’s the scary part. I don’t think there even Hass to be a soul it’s just I clasp our fashion and using all that to keep up appearances, there’s no real taste to it.
Was a fan of the ship between aoi x tony till he ruins it by revealing he was a manipulative insecure bastard just ruined the whole ship for me aoi run from him like the plague please I am happy u finally doge a bullet

the party scenes of hi-so thais represents satanists or "globalists"
Communist philosophy. Rich are filthy in real.

@@paulofaquinhe didn’t say it’s tasteless. He said it tasted like shit, which just means his palette wasn’t used to it.
Yeah
Humble food made with love is still the best, not the little portion, tasteless, and expensive.
Yeah...if a chef said it's because of the experience the food will taste great I'll literally stand up and leave that place...
Nothing beats home cooked food...at least you know it tastes great.
Lmao you clearly dont know anything about food
Both of you think you’re righteous for having one category of food. Y’know the great thing of those who can afford the more expensive experiences? We can do both. Enjoy the humble food AND what you’re ridiculing for merely being expensive and tasteless.
ยิ่งกินกันพร้อมหน้ายิ่งอร่อย👍👍👍

As a restaurant owner, oh man… this hits close to home
I know these are 2 totally different movies, but i really enjoyed this way more than The Menu...
No matter how tasty the dish, if it's expensive, the tummy never happy.😅
For that people that is not expensive, hut a regular food

it's about scarcity, not taste.
She always gets the good movies
The spirit in the narration, one of the better recap videos in the platform
Thanks for the recap. I’ll watch the full version tonight
That cow will taste like shit lol 😂😂😂
Also im suprised none of the guests whinged on the tiny portions
This was a great movie. Throughly enjoyable. 😊
Paul's discovery with the Caviar as a child is something I've long thought about.
I think every young ambitious cook should watch this movie. That's the reality.
I don't think that's always the case, but it is a risks you take, and a very high one at that.
This was good. It was kind of 'The Devil Wears Prada' except in food instead of fashion
Best movie i ever watched.
Can't believe we actually got a happy ending.
That's what I call strong female character. Humble, stoic, sensible, never tries to make men around her unworthy, even though the boss acts like shit. I love Aoi and the actress is amazing!
Literally saying the whole entire world lol great video
I love how as the movie progresses you can see how drained and soulless she becomes towards cooking and at the end you can tell she's still broken inside but theres a chance she'll learn to love it again
Good storyline
your not going to cook half a cow suspended in air with flames covering the outside lol , burnt outside raw inside
Well, you can actually cook it in a similar manner. Just not by setting it on fire, and it's going to take a while.
While the cow would be getting cooked, she could have prepared a 7 course meal and with time to spare.
`Makes me want to watch the whole movie
Something in this movie reminds me so much of Food Wars (Shokugeki no Soma)
😂 other than Food Gasm and Nudity, it is a good match to Food Wars
Best movie explained 😊
This seems very clearly inspired by The Menu, but still seems interesting and unique in it's own way.
that seems... pretty improbable. the menu came out in november 2022. you can't make a damn movie in 6 months lmao
This comment is unintentionally offensive xd
Maybe you're stupid
Nah. Asia has some cooking movies, in which the main character is disillusioned by job. It's more common than you think. Hollywood is not always the first.
Both movies have different themes, The Menu does not have anything about the importance of family like Hunger does
god dmn this is a FANTASTIC MOVIE, ok im off to watching it now thanks!

Maybe it is because we are poor. Maybe it is the overpriced menus. Maybe that is why i was never fond of much extravagant foods. A simple noodles, momos and fish cury with rice.
Ah, the asian menu
