I know im late but Blacksshmits can be upgraded to get you a 20 bonus to accuracy and the a barracks upgraded to a firing range gives another 15 so a 35buff to accuracy combined whit foreing veterans who may have gotten +5 to accuracy buffs you can make extra accurate infantry (i got Imperial Guards whit more than 100 accuracy) (vanilla)

Playing fots for the first time was something to get used to all right. All of a sudden, matchlock units that filled a niche role in Shogun 2 were the way to play the game, and artillery could very easily fuck your day up unless you brought some yourself.

total war shogun 2 is basically 3 total war games in one
2. ROTS is lackluster
Be me, a Warhammer Total War player:
Make a full army of modern cannons by turn 10 or so
Rapidly Expand, and research gun tech
Samurai Uprising cause of modernization.
"Oh, I can take care of it right now, I just need to send my armies back."
*mfw they burn my trading port to the Western World, and make a beeline straight for the capital.*

I'm thinking of giving another campaign a go, I'm torn between doing a Takeda Campaign, or doing a Fall of the Samurai one.
Isn’t it a good idea to have the archers in the front line for more range at the start and when the enemy charges put your spears in front of your archers?
I did a campaign on easy on shogun 2 and won and yesterday i tried rise of the samurai and got my ass whooped on normal with the kiso :(
You must be very lonely
Archers are not Musket rifles, rifles can only shoot forward, in SG, archers out class matchlock units, but rifle units in FOTS are much better then Archers.

What is the difference between Shogunate and Imperial?
I'm not sure how to expand without having samurai revolts in homeland.
Build police stations ASAP, try to balance research with civil policies that will reduce modernization, and send shinsengumi agents to newly captured provinces that are opposite your allegiance

@@jw5931 There is one more question I was hoping you could answer. Near the beginning of the game it asks you whether you want "Civil" or "Military" priorities. Which one do you normally choose?

I think the guys allll the way to the west start out with advanced artillery, and I usually go straight for researching military up to the point of developing armstrong guns then go on the warpath while researching civil policies for peace interims
Challenge. Try to defeat this army, long range atillery, to kill of your army over time; if you dont attack. And gatteling guns, to obliterate your army, if you do attack.
