I love this song, it reminds me of the time I was walking on the docks and I saw my freind who was on his boat and he looked at me surprised and shocked that he saw me and asked me what am I doing here I proceeded to tell him I caught a fish off the point over there, then I showed him the fish ........... and that's all that happened nothing else...... we went our separate ways ........ stop asking me questions..... leave me alone...( rides away in boat nervously)
This whole song itself was essentially a sample. This isn't the way Burnside recorded it at all. This was all remixed completely into this quirky, catchy song years later.
Been playing this at work when everyone’s getting frustrated and the Grooooooooove kicks in and the plant is saved! Control room puts the plant into a groove so smoof the booze be smellin sweet as hell!
The Harmonica is played by Lester Butler my absolute favorite harp player next to little walther and sonny boy williamson . Unfortunatly he died on the 9th of may 1998 2 days after i saw him at the moulin blues festival in Ospel Holland . Check out his album KingKing from the red devils and 13 the band he was playing in at the time of his death ,did also the opening song on the Rancid album.. forgot now... anyway lester Butler check im out!
This one still cracks me up! No chord changes at all. Very few lyrics that just repeat themselves anyway. But don't get me wrong - this is a really song fun to listen to!!
Do you understand the lyrical repeat? The whole dialogue with his love lady turns into a Train Wreck. " The Engineer blue the whistle and the fireman he rang the bell." After he found fame with his song being picked up for the Opening Credits of the "Sopranos" he passed away - not rcih for most of his life.
So.....any time names like BB King, Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton are spoken.....any time those names are spoken and this man's isn't, it's a low down shame.

Nah, this is on top with his Someday Baby song.
I can't believe with all his talent and skill, Burnside has to resort to driving a taxi

Harp tone is awesome!
Lester Butler!
Stone solid (you know).
Back in 1993 I sat 2 or 3 meters away this great bluesman, his cousin on drums, his only accompaniment. And his Fender, and Heineken, lots of it.
'97 at a small Danish bar, maybe 20 people there. It was awesome. He sat with us and kind of scared my wife. He had a lot of energy.
back in the day when my wife and I would have few drinks and start parting down this would be one of our "move your butt" songs. Boogie on!
Agreed...rl was a legend..yes he was..62 year old former marine from south carolina...love him..
How cool is that

@@michaelcorrigan5580R.L. Burnside didn't write the theme song to The Sopranos. Woke Up This Morning was written by Alabama 3.
It's almost like chord changes are only a part of music, and not even a hugely necessary part.
