2022 tell me, who else do I need to hear? The way R.L. Burnside bridged old school blues with a modern sound, but keeping the grit and soul intact. It’s special
Working at record stores in the late 90's, this was a favorite of mine to play while on the clock. Customers always dug it as well. Someone was always bound to ask what it was and where was it in the store to purchase. Fat Possum's catalog got heavy rotation when I was at work. Great album still in 2022 and great memories.
I'm in northern Kentucky. I locate underground utilities. I was in a new construction. The plumbers in the house had this blasting. Awesome job. Doobie time
Some time back my girl fell I'll and I was down in the dumps. Music has always helped me push through things. I found this man and his legacy of music and can't help myself enough. It's addictive to listen to. Not many people played it like this man and not since in my opinion. Mad respect for his sound style and his craft.
Let my Baby Ride and Its Bad You Know are killer tunes !! This is another record i like to play to my purists blues friends to scare the hell out of them 😆
RL had the ability to pull out a single thread out of the groove, lean into it and ride that wave to the beach. What he’s doing sounds simple...it’s anything but. True masters get the most out of the very least. RL and Mississippi Juke Blues are seriously under appreciated.
experimental crossroads of some mighty music, never grow tired of these blues inspired gems..music branches out into clever toe stompers, percussive-rock elements.. does bring to mind so many of the greats..and that guitar and voice..
The Mid 1990's were great Jon Spencer went down south & dug up this great old bluesman to tour with him up north (he kept complaining about his beer bottle having a hole in it), cool far out re-mixes of some of this stuff with the Spencer bent to it.
I feel lucky to have discovered this man’s music. If you like rl burnsides funky soul sound I highly recommend listening to the album ruckus by galactic. The lead singer theryl “houseman” declouet, RIP, had that same special something that you feel in deep down in your soul, and that entire album is a powerful jam full of New Orleans funk
Great eclectic remix 🎯with many subtle -great integrations like --26:30-- nice didge sublayer- you're welcome 🦘 (Shuck Dub a bit too lateral for me -try Little Axe for a smoother groove) 1998- Time flies when it's bad you know!🕶
As a musician this guy is a muse for me, him and my girlfriend and my mental illness that is, i aspire to this, he had the raw talent in abundance no special fx neccessary, he could rock with just a geeeetar and his soul, thats why this works so well, he had the foundation, he was a master of expression, your hearing whats in his heart, the other stuff is just a tool to get the job done, remember this, if you aint got it going on with the bare minimum first, no amount of clever production will help you, you'll be better of down at the crossroads at midnight and sell your soul. Just a metaphor but seriously you gotta want it so bad, these guys would play to ease thier pain, and to help others ease thiers, it wasn't about fame or fortune, it was about survival, they were real in every sense.

This album is like an experimental hip-hop blues mix, I dig it!
