I asked him who his favorite guitar players were, predictably he said John Mayer, Clapton, Joe Bonamassa and Stevie Ray Vaughan. My response to him was that "you're missing about 50 years of music prior to those guys!". This kid had never even heard of Bo Diddley! I heard this blues singer on the radio, and a young man of about twenty working there told me, "That's R L Burnside. I can't believe you've never heard of him. He's a famous blues singer." I love this redition of rollin and tumblin, and I love north hill country blues. I've noticed in all my favourite music, my most favourite is all very repetitive, more like rhythms than melodies. Maybe it's the cave man in me, but it's beautifully simple and simply beautiful.
