You Sir are a Legend. You Make crazy comlex and labour intensive builds of such a high quality, on par with huge channels/companies like the hacksmith. And all that with pretty basic tools. Just amazing. Keep up the great work :)
I like how much detail you put into your projects, like that plastic anti-abrasion bushing would have been skipped by someone lesser, but not you. You're building this stuff to last too.
I just need to say, I can't convey with words how much I love your videos, you and you're channel. You're so entertaining dude. Keep doing what you're doing 👍
this might seem crazy but... why don't you try to run the mantisblade from the same air system as the powerfist. dualweilding a giant blade and a mechanical fist would be crazy and amazing.
Always love your channel because you leave in the trial and error, and show us that this stuff is hard to do. This makes me feel better when I'm in the shop and need to remember that success is built on failure.
Um...... i don't think even jairus would argue that anything involving a hacksaw is the very antithesis of precision. Try clickspring if you want precision. Watch this channel if you want geeky builds :).
It was tons of file work for sure! But I didn’t have to use any ruby bearings or microscopic gears! Lol So not quite watchmaking but still painstaking considering my available tools.
the tap holder you are using shouldn't be used for taps smaller than 5mm, get yourself a chuck style tap wrench for doing these small taps and you will avoid breaking as much.
Uuuuuuh the extend and retraction is looking so smooth. So Far it looks really good. I am so ready for the next video/s to get to see the final product 😍😍
@@dustinthewind357 the word you're searching for is "inaccurate", not "cyberpunk" unless you're meaning "full of bugs". fullers are for weight saving. Absolutely nothing to do with blood or suction.

Tap guides and drill guides for small drill bits and taps. Will save you time and headache. I know you said you hadn't broken a tap in forever but small bits and taps don't care.
Wow, wait, what?!?!?! Where did that third hand come from??? Is that magic??? The hand of a random subscriber??? Do patreons have a hidden benefit through a special app or something we`re aware of??? So many questions with those 20 sec at 10:34 and 11:30
you can probably use one of those co2 life jacket inflators for the blade part, they are normally very small and I think that it would work well on this project
Man I was cringing so hard with those tiny drill bits and taps. I know how sharp those can be when they break and you accidentally jab yourself with the shard that gets stuck in the metal you're working!
Would you be able to weld the outer two plates together to add a little more rigidity? I don't think that would interfere with serviceability and reduce leaks since the outer plates are gonna be held with fasteners anyway. Great build as always though.
I feel like hydraulics would be better for this application because they wouldn't give when the blade hits something. The air in co2 will compress a little. It probably won't be a problem tho.
Love your videos so far, but there is something I'd like to point out. That groove you're cutting called a fuller, and it's put into a blade to reduce its weight. It's not for blood. Just so you know.
I'm curious, Jairus. Some petroleum lubricants degrade a variety of rubbers over time. Did you consider which type of grease and elastic you chose when going with your elastic return system? If so, can you share what you chose? If not, was it because of any particular reason or did it just not come up during your design process?
When you said “put your finger right here”, while looking at the camera... I’m like: wow, interactive. 😂
gotta say between how this version coming along and the one Kyle Hill made I'm excited to see how this turns out
You mean the one made by Thea Ulrich? Kyle Hill just did the analysis. He didn’t even wear the blades for the tests they did.

I wonder what if he makes a project with hacksmith
@@shervintofighi9891 he has brov
You're putting more care and effort into this project than CDPR put into their "Next Gen" triple-A title
shareholder's fault the poor coders at the company were being overworked & understaffed to bits to get it out for crassmas
I like how much detail you put into your projects, like that plastic anti-abrasion bushing would have been skipped by someone lesser, but not you. You're building this stuff to last too.
You could used some strong magnets at the base to retain the blade, and the air pressure can overcome it.
I just need to say, I can't convey with words how much I love your videos, you and you're channel. You're so entertaining dude. Keep doing what you're doing 👍
“That’s the process”...Jairus is all about the quality of the process; and the result is killer end products.
One of the MOST underrated channels on RUclips! This build is amazing man🔥🔥🔥
I have the same thoughts
Jairus, this is looking SO cool!!

nice work man, love the precission you go to work!!

it's called a fuler not a "blood groove"

You’re very persistent with your drilling, place an F in the chat for all the drill bits lost in this project
Drill press table can pivot, no? Why not copy diresta anvil for press so you can position it over the vice?

Get rid of the grease and use an in line pneumatic tool oiler. I suggest silicone oil

He is honestly awesome
They make thin belts for the sand wheel that you can use to make a blood Groove
nice project man, waiting for new part
so sick

You could collab with Alex Lab (who just made hydrogen muscles) and have a way to not use a compressor.
This is AWESOME
I have a specific size of drill bit in every kit that breaks. ITS ALWAYS THE ONE I NEED TOO! DANG IT!
Have you considered using a less viscous grease or oil?

Congratulations
You just made the worlds most impractical OTF knife
If you can weld you can tack the whole stack of plates and drill one set of holes
Something from cyberpunk 2077 working
looks great. Just a thought, little drills have a nasty habit of breaking and flying and with no saftey glasses, well, that could be a bad day man.

So you're doing a mix of 4-40 and 2-56?
0-80 for the elastic retainers, with #2 and #3 for the main housings.
Do you release your videos early to your patreons?
why did you use a drill bit for an axle instead of getting 2mm pins?
Hay dude the blood groove is called a fuller and is for strength of the blade
Love ya vids
Its *not* for the strength of the blade it is to make the blade lighter with minimal loss to structural integrety

Not a blood groove. Its a fuller. It never was a blood groove
Just a blonde one thicker eh? The red are commonly thought to be the thinnest in my neck of the woods.
"blood groove" is not the name of that bit on a knife or sword but is called a fuller and it's for lightening
