I prefer carrying this for it's flexibility. I have unfortunately had to use one on a 9 year old kid who got cut by a piece of glass at a swimming pool and was bleeding out. It was really easy to use. Also used one while out hunting and I came across a hiker that tore her knee up real bad. Applied it as a compression sleeve basically and helped her back to her car.

My first good trauma call was for a guy that went through a plate glass window and shredded his forearms. We literally emptied our trauma bag, scooped, and ran.
This definitely re-affirms my decision to carry both a swat-t and cat-t.

The SWAT is easier to carry for me and one point that Brian brought up in a podcast is that it can be used for children and dogs. Who would of thought, thanks bro!

Great video. We train with 3" or 4" elastic bandages in a similiar fashion where i work. I kinda figured that's how they worked.
Also, for arm injuries you can stick a roll of guaze into your/ their armpit and hold the limb next to the torso. This puts pressure right up on the brachial. Not as effective because you've got to actively keep thr arm to the side, but a good nugget to keep in mind for SHTF scenarios.

I keep one of these, a couple small packs of QuikClot, and some gloves in a Live the Creed pocket pack. I figure that even if I don't need a TQ, I can use it to provide milder pressure keeping other bleeding control stuff in place. Since my pocket pack is as likely to be used to help someone else as to help me, I also expect that one-handed use is not as likely.
That said, yes, I'm going to practice using it on my arm a few times...

I will never use it for self-aid.
It takes way too long to apply it in one-handed application.
Plus, you must be able to use your injured arm to apply it in one-handed application, which could not be possible due to the injury.
I'll still carry it for buddy aid (for K9 and children).

Nice video, l carry the SWAT in my uniform pocket and my SOF-t in my Med Kit, for self application l would always go SOF-t but for job l do the SWAT in more convenient to carry.

I've carried the SWAT T and a CAT for years. Some of my 300 pound sons have enormous thighs. And Mt grandchildren and dogs have small legs.

I have tried to use the SWAT-T and cannot get it to work. I bought a training SWAT-T to learn on and still cannot get the thing to work. I stopped carrying it as my EDC and switched to a Soft-t Tourniquet
SOF-T is still an excellent option.
Are you gonna be able to apply that to yourself if you are bleeding profusely. I would prefer a CAT or even a SOF T.
I prefer CAT, it’s what I carry while on duty.
Not on duty I carry a SOF T. They are a little bit easier to carry daily.

lol far easier ways to put on but you non medical trained folks don’t know pro tip wrap it once like starting a drip then follow directions 😊
