Good sewing tutorial very clear and concise instructions. I’ve been wanting to make the Joni for a long time but didn’t quite understand the instructions in the book. I have all three of the Tilly books and I’m always reading and learning from them.

Thank you for the video, I tried to make this dress but really struggled with the twist, it was so bulky, I just couldn'tget it to sit right, i had to modify to a ruched bodice. Maybe I'll try with a lighter weight jersey

Hi Lisa, oh that is a shame. I did find that the twist worked better on the lighter fabrics. The one I am wearing in the video for example is very light and this has sat the best out of the four dresses I have made with this pattern. I do love them all though. Yes try with something light weight next time.

Hi Dianne from sunny Hampshire UK. Lovely videos, you are a pleasure to watch. Just finished my Joni bodice yesterday. On to skirt and finishing today!. I originally tried with clear elastic to stabilise the shoulder seams. As shown in the book. But I found the elastic very stiff straight from the roll. And didn't like the finished seam, so unpicked it and went without. I think perhaps I should have stretched the elastic repeatidly to make it softer before sewing in? Do you have any tips for sewing in elastic to seams?? Thanks for taking the time to make your videos x best wishes, Kim :)

Hi Kim I hope it goes well, to be honest I never like the elastic in the shoulder seams as I find it irritating. You do need to stretch it a little but i usually leave it out and have made the Joni quite a few times and none of mine have the elastic in the shoulders. I was wearing one of them yesterday in fact, it is such a good pattern that one. Have a lovely week and thank you for watching.

great video yet again, i have put off making this dress because the bodice looked confusing. I have just bought the Itch to stitch book by Kennis wong there are some lovely patterns in that book

Lovely video. Feel I can now go ahead. I have pattern and fabric ready. Is the pattern true to size? As the fabric is stretch jersey should I go for one size smaller as I want it to fit, not be baggy. Thanks.

It is meant for stretch jersey style fabrics and I found it true to size. ☺️
