      Kaiserhund: Would it be fine if we did a culture sharing operation with the library of Yog-Sothoth? Our records of Dagonian customs are rather thin after the Whitly incident, the orbs hovering around me and the fact that I have satyr legs have nothing to do with the question.

    I played this video and the ocean became choppy with white caps. A thick fog rolled in with the surf as the twilight fell, which is somewhat strange. I live in the middle of the Mohave desert.

    Oh my, what a lovely tune! It's sooo catchy! Also, when I played it for my boyfriend, who is a scientist with stunningly gorgeous hair, all of his cool little science thingies began to just go crazy.

      I put this in front of my science thingies as well and played it, seemed to have a similar reaction, I will be posting my findings for the scientific community so that they may repeat the experiment.

    I read a few comments and giggled at the things like, "thunderstorm warning" and whatnot.
    Both times I've listened to this (days apart) the whole area seems to get a bit cooler, despite the normal temperatures being way too high.

    I played this and now I smell the distinct saltiness & fishy smell of the sea. The sky is getting dark, even though it's hours til sunset and a fog is slowly creeping into the yard. I think I should have heeded the warning......

    Can anyone see this in a horror trailer? Like, instead of a choir, it’s just this little kid speaking it like a prayer, and we get flashes of eldritch stuff happening and it’s capped off with the silhouette of Dagon rising from the depths?

      Since the man who made the Colour Out Of Space adaptation is considering adapting the Shadow Over Innsmouth, maybe he could try to get the rights to this for trailer use like you suggested.

      @@lordlammi1562 Dagon. Cthulhu (2007), Chiaki J. Konaka's The Shadow Over Innsmouth, The Shadow Over Innsmouth (2015) by Brian Moore, not to mention the thousands of other stories and pieces of media that just slap Deep Ones in and say "Look! Lovecraft!" even if they don't follow the rest of the story, ie. Darkest Dungeon.
      Video game wise, there's the ever-beloved Call of Cthulhu Dark Corners of the Earth and The Sinking City, among others I'm certain I missed.
      For contrast, when's the last time you saw an adaptation of the Dunwich Horror?

    Used to listen to this pretty frequently on my way to work in Cape Ann, Lovecraft Country, MA.
    Really set the mood knowing that I wasn't too too far away from Innsmouth.

    It's so strange to look at the way Lovecraft viewed the sea and compare it to what I know as the sea. He depicts it as something dark, mysterious, and evil, when in truth its a colorful world that serves as the reason for all life

      Actually dagon is real but he's not as lovecraft described, real gods influenced him to right his stories that way, also in the spiritual son of dagon, patron god of the philistinas and king zagan the vampiric guardian of the qlippoth who will always have a high place in the nightside and my spiritual mother is Tiamat

    Some of the songs from the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society are based on songs from the real world. Does anyone know if this is the case? If so, please tell me which song it is.

      Yes, this uses the tune of a hymn called "Eternal Father Strong to Save," written in the 1860s. It's also the official hymn of both the British and American navies.

      I think the HPLHS only sells it on their website. As far as I know it is not played on spotify or elsewhere.

      It's kinda confusing anyway. The Lovecraft Story "Dagon" aint playing in Innsmouth but the Dagon venerated in "the shadow over Innsmouth" is technically not the creature Dagon from the story of the same name or Dagon at all but Cthulhu pretending to be him and a being known as mother Hydra altogether - madness prevails!!
