      Thomas: The reason why you can only switch the map is that the Discover Media Infotainment system is used. When this is used in the Passat or the Tiguan you have the same situation. You can only show the map in the Active Info Display AND the Infotainment Screen when you have a Discover Pro.

      Dimal Kqiku No it is not. 2018 is correct. Model year starts at week 22 every year. So all models built after that date are Model year 2018

    Great MK6 Polo review Thomas! I really enjoyed it and am glad to see that you are politely pushing the move towards using more sustainable materials in VWs. I was also glad to see that you asked them about the SCR urea systems and particle filters. This subject is obviously a very sensitive, yet extremely important topic for VW and one that they need to become leaders in going forward. VW have got a massive amount of work and ground that must be regained, if they are ever to be trusted by their customers again. I am not saying that they do not otherwise build great cars, my last three have been VWs, but I and many others do have a sense of being misled, if not betrayed, by VW and its senior management. The unhappy stuff aside, I am a great fan of what you guys at Autogefühl do and look forward to new videos regularly. P.S. If anyone at VW reads this comment, please keep pushing greener technologies and, above all, be honest with yourselves and your customers. If something endangers the planet further, stand up and protect the future for everyone. In the long run, your customers will come back to you, because sustainability for the environment also leads to a sustainable customer base.

      If you have an opportunity can you ask VAG reps about a 1.3 naturally aspirated 3-cylinder based on the EA211 engine design. I can't figure out why they are putting expensive turbo technology in to entry level cars like the Up and Polo especially now as forced induction engines are seem to be polluting. A 85 to 90ps 1.3 non-turbo engine would be cheaper and lighter than the 1 litre TSI and would serve as a good low cost engine for Up, Mii, Citigo, Polo, Ibiza, Fabia, Rapid and even poverty specification A1

    The biggest progress of the new VW Polo are the design of the front and of the interior.😍 Furthermore I really enjoy the infotainment and assistant system options. Of course my favorite Polo is the GTI with 200hp but I think the R-Line package also fits perfectly. Maybe the new Polo gets the best GTI because this car is very compact. Can`t wait for the driving part XD

    Thomas - Once again - an outstanding review. It is a shame the Polo is not available here in the States - it would be a great addition to VW's portfolio of vehicles. It is a stylish compact car with enough 'get-up-and-go'; plus features and all at great entry price. I also want to express my appreciation for the terrific effort by each of the VW executives you interviewed during the course of this review for communicating in English. It is at times difficult enough to be part of the interview process in one's own native language but even more so in one's second or even third language. My thanks to you Thomas, the Autogefuhl Team especially the team's creative videographers and the folks at VW for all contributing to a solid informative review. Joe

    I would be in the camp of higher spec Polo vs lower spec Golf. I like the colour in the interior. Manufacturers should be more adventurous with interior styling for the less expensive cars. I also like how the infotainment screen is the same height as the active info display. It reminds me a little bit of the Mercedes saloons with the two screens.

      I agree. Visited my VW dealership today to ask about the 1.5 TSI with 150hp, because I'm interested (if the price will be right, Ibiza already got it for a nice price). Dealer said it would come with the modelyear 2019 update in May.

    Thomas, your review are always very thorough but one point you appear to forget is paint quality...Is it applied properly and evenly? How much of car gets a coat of paint (bonnet underside, spare wheel well) Does it look good up close? I am bringing this up as I believe it shows how serious a manufacturer is when it comes to quality and also how much money has been invested in the product.
    What do you think?

    Regarding not being able to show the map in the active info display and in the center display at the same time: This is a limitation of the Discover Media system, it applies to the Passat, the Tiguan and the Golf as well. With the Discover Pro, you can show it in both displays at the same time.

    The best detail as always! I quite like the interior trim colour aligned to the exterior, and the infotainment beside the Active Info Display. Shame hard plastics on door panels, and basic cup holders. I love contrasting and bright interiors. The styling looks like they're getting ready to soon introduce us to a jacked-up Polo SUV mini-Tiguan-thing! Don't like the excessive R-Line/GTI 'mask' chin-spoiler, but would want the LED's. No particulate filter on the CNG's TSI engine! Many thanks Thomas.

    I think the automotive sector can still a lot of tech companies when it comes to screens / infotainment. The digital cluster par example is nice, but if you don't like the blue theme you're still stuck with it (saw no custom options). Still, it would be very easy to include other themes (like a red sporty one as the GTI has and maybe a more classical one too) but carmakers are hesitant to do so. I don't know why. Brands like Mercedes are able to build interior ambient lighting which can take all colors of the RGB spectrum but the customizability of the digital displays is not on par with mobile devices. Another such thing is oil temperature; when you have virtually unlimited space to place gauges (because you can choose what you want to see) its a pity we cant see oil temp, and maybe other things like turbo pressure, oil level, wash fluid level, etc.

    • @mpc007
      @mpc007 6 лет назад

      Connected to this is the issue of updating; i think carmakers should learn of tech companies by bringing out regular updates to those systems that ADD the functionalities customers desire. Tesla already does so, the rest is lagging behind.

    Nice looking car, great vid Thomas. The strange thing about "German" cars is (especially the affordable ones like VW, Skoda, Seat) that the outside styling is very nice, good development there over the years, but if you go check out the interior: it's okay but on the other hand kind of boring. Not ugly, don't get me wrong, but a little bit boring. Too decent, not playful enough. There are brands out there, which do that quite better than Volkswagen..

    Well done VW for using more vegan leather in your cars but it's a pity that the steering wheel the part of the car that gets touched the most is still made of cow.

    Hi, Thomas very good review, but I have two question .
    1 . The rear of the car resemble the rear of the Audi Q2, did the VW corporation will move for future cars like this design with square rear light ?
    2 . I notice when you change the infotainment in middle screen the virtual cockpit change at same time (see at 08:24 to 08:30 ) and you forget to ask this question. Is this a bug or they make for purpose ?

    • @autogefuehl
      @autogefuehl  7 лет назад

      yeah that design language becomes common. We did record the infotainment interview before tbh, so I couldnt ask anymore. We ll resolve this question on the next driving event !

    I can understand the use of daytime running lights in morning foggy weather or at dusk but in clear skies over daylight and they are still on?
    Tip to VAG, do away with your fake tailpipes - or at least place one behind it. Goes to show the pretentious nature to please/mock/trick customers' with these design treatment. Product manager explanation was really vague.
    Not a fan of Beats audio and would prefer a different audio system.
    Some minor gripes aside the car overall is a winner and a benchmark on looks/aesthetics in it's class. Car actually has bags of character and charm ( great splashes of color/combo in the cabin ) which is missing in a lot of Volkswagen vehicles these days.
    Another top insightful review Thomas.

      metring073 You have to understand that sooner or later all car manufacturers will be going that way. The more electrification will happen the less exhausts you will see anyway.

    • @CT37BN
      @CT37BN 7 лет назад

      Electric cars don't have/don't need tailpipes while the Polo still uses a combustion engine.. it just looks off and cheap. Audi Q5 and new Audi A8 ( VAG ) also have fake exhaust tips.

    • @kraenk12

      metring073 lots of other brands do it now. I disagree though, I only think it looks cheap on sports models like the SQ5!

    VW seem to be trying to make the next Polo abit too 'UP' like inside. There should be clear definition between the UP, and the Polo. The new Polo just seems to blur the lines abit. Outside, as I mentioned, it looks too much like the outgoing model. Disappointed as the next Polo should have been more exciting overall.

  • @czmichiel

    design touches are great but there is still some problems.
    features that i need
    - electronic hand brake
    - pedal shift gear on steering wheel. they also shoud remove gear shift knob because nobody uses that in automatic
    - a new steering wheel design this one is kinda old
    - standart speedometer is old they should renew it with new design touches

    I prefer the contrast of the interior in the Beats, but it also looks a bit bland outside. Talking about the reason for the fake exhaust trim and the complexity, how complex is it to have a gap in the bumper for the tailpipe? 😂

      The Polo GTI for example has disc brakes in the rear, you can see it here: ruclips.net/video/lu8z-HIc4WI/видео.html
      So I think it depends on the engine you pick if you have drum or disc brakes in the rear, same accounts for the Ford Fiesta: ruclips.net/video/7aqhdBm3njc/видео.html

    VW missing a big chance in UK Polo sales currently as no 1.5TSI "Evo" 150ps option which is a missing chance for "R-line" sales - speaking to VW UK no chance of 1.5TSI "Evo" 150ps for seeable future at all. Probably could not ever afford a new Polo GTI but have a 2015 6c BlueGT with the 1.4TSI 150ps manual so for myself yes the new R-LINE nice compremise but nothing but the 1.0TSI 115ps going to available for UK. Also been told if the 1.5TSI does become available for UK no manual option going to be made - DSG only.
