    Interior looks really cool. Exterior style looks good too. But stop making everything bigger! You have a golf already. Cars don't need to keep getting bigger endlessly. It's ridiculous. Roads haven't got any wider.

      AS Fitness people are getting bigger? I'm 6 foot and have plenty of room in my Zoe. Which in fairness is bigger than a current Polo so I'll give VW an exception in this case. Since they're both supermini class cars.

      arash kahedi yea it's dumb as hell. we don't need a house on wheels

    • @miskatonic6210
      @miskatonic6210 7 лет назад +5

      arash kahedi Well, ask the reviewers, why 50% of their reviews is about how spacious the interior is. When they compare cars of the same class, the most spacious car will most likely win the comparison. Additionally bigger cars have a better ride quality. So manufacturers tend to make cars of the same class bigger to win comparisons.

    • @freibier
      @freibier 7 лет назад +2

      Yes, it is silly. The cars even eventually "outgrow" the class they are in and the manufacturers have to introduce a new model "below" it (e.g. VW Up!). Cars get bigger and bigger, but roads/garages/parking spaces do not. In some older car parks, I sometimes have problems even with my Mk7 Golf to open the doors when I park between two other cars, because the spaces are not wide enough for modern cars. The VW Up! is actually about the same size as the Golf 1, despite right now being two classes lower than the Golf in the model range (VW Up! length 3.6m, width 1.6m, Golf 1: length 3.7m, width 1.6m, Golf 7: length 4.26m, width 1.8m)

    • @MrJbnlp
      @MrJbnlp 7 лет назад +6

      arash kahedi because vw has the up as small car

    • @kadajawi6567
      @kadajawi6567 7 лет назад +1

      People do like the increased space. Also, all the safety that modern cars need to offer (and thankfully do) requires space too. Anyway, the Japanese are much worse at this. The current Toyota Vios is 4,41m long. It's their Polo competitor as a sedan. The Civic Hatchback is 4,52m, 26cm longer than the Golf 7! Let alone the sedan, which sits at 4,63. And the Mazda 3, smaller on the inside than the Golf 7, is 4,46m. At least VW cars make use of all the space, and offer a relatively spacious interior.

    • @Basnandez

    • @p-jb5678
      @p-jb5678 7 лет назад +1

  • @MenanteC

    I love it! I went for a look and was really impressed with the highline. Then i saw the pricetag and almost choked. The only other one on the floor was the trendline - it was like a burger without the meat inside, you can technically still call it a burger, but the good stuff is not there. So the comfortline is probably the sweetspot, although a lot of the nice features are not standard, so it's still expensive for such a small (well not anymore really ey?) car.

    Hi Dawie Pieterse, absolutely agree with you. I sat in the previous Polo GTI and was surprised how cramped it was. Some nice person had just shoved my last car in. I bought the Mark 7 Golf GTI as it is a genuine 4 seater for 6 ft plus folk. The thing with the Golf GTI, is that a lot of things came free. If you spec an ordinary Golf or the Polo GTI up to have all the extras, there was not much in it. The new Polo may now have more extras included. Pricing is a tricky thing because you don't wasn't taken for a mug. The base Golf GTI, with a decent discount was good value.

    While parking slots and roads widths remain the same (or smaller), the sizes of cars are forever growing larger. Some people now park one car in 2 car slots due to the humongous car sizes. And the current polo will be the same size as the golf once was. Now there is a “large” “mini” the size of a caravan.

    I have a 2013 R-line polo and the thing I like the most about it, is how smart and understated it looks compared to its rivals. The interior could be classed as boring, but is of excellent quality and looks classy. If I wanted a tacky looking orange dash, I'd buy a Citroen

  • @thormaster06

    They look great here with top spec kits on them, but how will entry level model look? Just look at Tiguan. Looks very good with higher spec, but entry level Trendline looks like it was released in 2006 not 2016. 2017 Tiguan Trendline next to entry level 2017 3008 Access looks like a 8-10 years old car. It has Transporter looking headlamps. I have them both parked in front of my window at work and see them every day and still have trouble believing they are couple of months apart, and not couple of years.

    Personally, I think Volkswagen did a really good job here. They've totally revamped the Polo and made it look better than the previous model. In some areas it actually reminds me of a Golf and somewhat of the Ibiza. Of course that's not that suprising considering Seat is a part of Volkswagen AG.

      The A1 does't really compete in the mainstream small car market in the same way the Polo does. The A1 competes in the more nieche market, together with the Mini. People buy Minis because they want Minis. People buy Polos because they want a small car.

    God damn! I can't wait to see this on Indian roads. VW Polo's biggest disadvantage here have been its lack of space in the rear. That won't be a problem anymore I guess. But I'm not expecting all that gizmos ever make into the Indian market. That will price it out of the premium hatchback segment, at least in India.

    Have to say that I was really looking forward to the new GTI coming out. Sadly, to me at least, the back of this car is hideous. Especially the lego brick lights. Not a patch on the Golf's lights, but maybe that's the point to encourage VW customer's to dig a little deeper into their pockets. The line running across the front grill into the headlights looks wonky as opposed to the Golf's. Sadly, taking all this into account plus the fact there is no 3 door option, means I can't even consider buying it. Really enjoy your reviews Matt. Keep 'em coming.

    Excellent, but no view on the rear seat and the legroom that was inadequate in the earlier version.

    Looks great apart from the small rear light cluster (should be wider), but anytime I've driven a Polo it feels tinny, noisy and unrefined compared to the Golf - I usually buy Golfs but I’ll certainly look at the 2018 Polo as a serious contender this time around.

    chez WV, ce n'est pas compliqué. Tu prend la calandre d'un modèle et tu retrouves le même, à quelques détails près, sur tout le reste de la gamme. La "personnalité" est une valeur que WV a bien du mal de cultiver.

    Not crazy about the front design. There is a bit of fiat in it. The old polo in white, looked like a Star Wars stormtrooper helmet from the front. I liked that a lot.
    This is a bit more messy looking.

    only if they shown the actual models that you would pay for standard alloys and standard interior and infotainment sysytem!! only want people to go in car dealerships so they waste their time amd just get a quote for a standard car with a high payment!

    It's massive like you say what's the point of the Golf, prefer the Seat offering a bit more flare. Your using a lot off stock footage recently.

    Here is the No1 thing you probably need to know about a VW Polo... The engines can detonate at any time. Our 4.5 year old, fully serviced, 38,000 miler timing chain "jumped a tooth" which is catastrophic for the engine, which equals a BIG bill. Wouldn't touch another VW with a barge pole.

    As the owner of a 2014 TSI 6C polo, I'm actually quite disappointed with the interior of this car. Where is all the rhodium and chrome accents? Looks so much cheaper on the inside to me. And the exterior isn't speaking to me either. They've messed up the front and the back in my opinion. Fair enough there's lots of fancy gimmicks in this new one, but I think if I do get another VW, I'll be buying the new golf. It looks so much better compared to this new polo, even if there isn't much in size difference. With the starting price being around 14,000 as well, you may as well spend less and get the UP! or a bit more and get the Golf.

    I liked the old polo gti/gtd over the current golf. To me it looked more like what the origanal gti team would design today.
    So I'm all for this over the golf.
    Not liking the coloured trim on the dash. Looks cheap. I'd want it mat black. So would probably just wrap it. Wouldn't cost much and take all of half an hour.

    The Last Polo was too small, inside. This is much better. It is also more expensive. It will be interesting to see the price of the GTI. If it comes too close to the Golf GTI, there are problems. The Fiesta ST is so good, that VW probably had no choice.

      David Hayes when VW launches a new gti model its a few bucks more than the out going model it replaces. would be stupid to make the smaller model as expensive as the bigger gti

    • @miskatonic6210
      @miskatonic6210 7 лет назад +1

      David Hayes The Focus ST and the Golf or Polo GTI aren't really competitors. I bet customers of the ST are 10 years younger. Ford interiour looks cheap compared to VW and there are few options to choose from.

    It looks good but it looks more like a facelift of the previous version. It didn't wow me when I saw because the design is more like "I've seen that before". Looks good but too much of the same giving it no wow factor.
