Go for it. When I was 84 I took a solo Viking River cruise, Grand European Tour, and had the time of my life. It was wonderful, both the staff and the other cruisers, were extremely friendly and I had a great time with all of them. In addition to seeing all the sights on their included excursions it was very relaxing to just sit and watch the world slowly pass by while sitting on the sun deck. I'm now 87 and planning my next solo Viking cruise.
Just got back from first river cruise. Passengers were much older, many in 80’s. The voice level is very high with everyone trying to be heard over each other.
The drinks packages are sold for two people. You can’t buy a have a package. I spoke with a couple of the experts and the consensus is unless hubby is a huge drinker it would make sense to just pay as you go.
I will be going on a Viking River cruise in July and I am wondering if I should get Euros for tipping the tour guides and bus drivers or would they be just as happy to be tipped in dollars?
Get about a $100 in Euros for quick tips or buys. If you are going to Czech Republic or Hungary you need to get their currency. Depending on your credit card, you can hit the ATMs.
Thanks. Very clear,simple, and informative
Glad you liked it
Enjoyed your video. Very good info even if I have heard some of it, it was good to hear it so precisely!
Thanks for the compliment Helene and Ira are wonderful travel experts
So informative and helpful!

Thank you. I’ve been thinking about a River cruise for awhile, and receive a brochure from Viking about once a month! I would be traveling solo.
Glad it was helpful. Are you looking for an expert to help you?

What are the Viking River Cruise policies on bringing prescription drugs on board? Thanks!!
Prescription meds are no issue but it’s a good idea to travel with them in the original container that display the script.
I m planning to go on Viking in September - my husband is interesting on buying silver package, but I don’t drink at all- can he buys only for him?

USD dollars work just fine in most countries but tipping in Euros is seen as a courtesy as it saves the guide having to exchange the dollars.

They are happy with anything. Love American guest cuz they are more generous than the rest.
How does Viking handle special diets such as vegan.
Here is a really good blog post that speaks to Viking and special diets www.spiritblog.net/vegan-and-food-allergies-on-a-viking-river-cruise/
Restaurant manager has a desk near the restaurant and is ready to hear you out.....allergies, vegan you name it.
What do you think
🤔 Viking makes our top five of river cruise lines we like.
