I'm 37 years old. 14 days ago I was taking heroin, smoking coke and drinking my life away and I had been doing this for a long time. 16 days ago I rediscovered classical music. I called my parents whom had been trying to get me into treatment for a long time. I realised that music is what gives me real emotional enjoyment not drugs. I said to my parents I have to give up now. Please get me out of Bristol but not a detox or rehab. I'm on a boat with my parents, my two dogs and the wildlife of the Norfolk Broads. Cruising down the rivers listening to all these classics has given me a new lease on life. A life where I can finally see a drug free future.

This is definitely a masterful classic music work, composed by one of the greatest German composers of the last century, Carl Heinrich Maria Orff, it seems that he was inspired by the Gods of Olympus. I like so much this version.
When those children were featured singing I darn-near fell out'a my chair ... but then back to vintage. This is beyond no doubt a classic. Son-of-a bitch I live in Missouri and have not been to a concert in many years; however, should this crew come near my local I will book transportation and ticket fair! Son-of-a gun I am now nearly "vintage-aged" but now feel like a kid in a candy factory. Perhaps the magic of music, or just the meaning of music? This concert was great! And again, thank's for the post.
I 've heard many Carmina's and indeed this one is to my liking. However, I am every time astonished how brilliant the recording of Eugen Jochem is. It is hard to surpass singers like Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Gundula Janowitz. It is nice to see the many reactions and that Carl Orff's composition brings so much joy to so many. Enjoy the music and find your favorite recording.
Rinus 1951 I too am listening to this performance and, like you, recall the Deutsche Grammafon recording to which you refer. I much prefere Gundula Janowitz.

Its mix of women, children and men in many different ages and all those musical instruments.. in perfect harmoni.. all this makes this amazing, masterpiece of all Times!
The sounds were alien and foreign. My ears have never imagined such sounds before. I couldn't understand, how can one man come up with such a composition? Now I can add one more to my favorite operas and chorus classics.
I attended Carmina Burana yesterday in Warsaw, Poland. Piece of art. Experience I'll never forget, it's hard to put into words how it made me feel. During O Fortuna I felt like I was literally flying few meters above the ground...
I sang this work many times in my professional career (the Swan), including one time in Los Angeles with a Grammy winner, singing the baritone part, but I must say this young baritone is the best I've heard, he really understands this as the piece of theatre it really is, and even if the audience couldn't understand his words, he gave them a very good idea of what he was singing about, BRAVO!
Felicitaciones! y mucha gratitud al genio de Carl Orff y a esta magnífica orquesta, el maravilloso coro y su Director. Un deleite. Y qué voces e interpretación tan excelente de los solistas. Gracias.
What an experience it was to have been there when these folk made this music? I was not there when these tunes were played but I am very happy that I was so lucky to have observed in RUclips format. Thanks for the post. Thanks most for the "crew".

Loved this version...great interpretation! Truly enjoyed the Tenor and Baritone's performances, but I had difficulty getting into the Soprano's performance. I am NOT a huge fan of that particular performance style. There should have been 2 female singers as it is written for a contralto, or a very good 2nd Soprano, and a very sweet coloratura. I could deal with most of her performance, but she just screamed one ofvthe most beautiful dolcissimo's written (short section just before the ending movements). That movement should cause tears to roll down your cheeks with the awe and beauty of her lament. This just made me cry in pain.

Truly this is the DIAMOND of all the performances of Carmina Burana on youtube. The three soloists are all stars of exceptional talent and together with the choir of mature singers and the gifted musicians of this fabulous orchestra, bring great depth, emotion and dynamics to the performance, transporting the audience to a state of absolute wonderment. One can actually feel their love for this grand piece of work by Carl Orff. Bravo.....and how fortunate when one comes across superlatively great performances such as this one!

So true! I heard scores of versions on RUclips, and the tempo is often marched-out (Allegro) or sped-up (like a machine), “accelerando,” somehow diminishing the seriousness, somberness and pathos of the thematic development. While most of us don’t understand Latin, there is a mellifluous eeriness about it that is alike beautiful and scary. The euphonious sounds of the Latin Language is ineffable…Divino and Sublime. Since it is a dead language, it would be ideal for a macabre danza. Carl Orff’s supernatural genius had probably won him denazification. At any rate, Carmina Burana, O Fortuna, strikes me as a heartbreaking requiem to the Third Reich. Well, my dear Homo sapiens, everything goes…and aesthetics is believed to be subjective. For my part, unless you have the blood and DNA of these folks, it would always remain a cacophonous conundrum of disjointed, mysterious sounds and plangent echos resonating with inexplicable mournfulness and nostalgia. By the way, Carl Orff’s incurable hankering for the past, Carmina Burana, a medley of medieval songs, is an elegiac poem to empires gone under the scythe of time.
@@DavidRice111 I even came across the horse-trotting versions of some famous conductors, and I wonder why would they speed-up the tempo of Fortuna? These Avant-Garde conductors may have been nudged by the impresario’s profiting schemes, which is to “speed up the tempo” so as to win the approval of the crowding legions, the law of the larger number of people, and hence, get more views on RUclips. Vanity of Vanities! By doing so, these maestros have made a grandiose mockery of Carmina Burana. But I understand their reasonings: classical music is dying, and so they are rapping up the tempo even in the Requiem of Mozart…Amazing! Thank goodness some conductors are wholeheartedly committed to respecting the composer’s wishes.

My life started when I discovered classical music and started learning the violin. Never look back! 🥰
I'd like to recommend Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No.2. It's the most profound. No word can express. And Beethoven Symphony's No.9. Just Great.
Wonderful to hear about your new journey. For me classical music makes my heart soar!
Bendiciones por siempre

This makes me so relaxed when I am working and it starts to get busy at my job. I love it !
This piece, composition as well as execution, is laced with medieval emotion! It is so out of this world!
In composition technique and performance setup it is so stark 20th century, in particular the rythms and syncopes.
Excellent!
Beautiful music, choir, director and orchestra!
Thank you very much!
