I am 76 years old and have never heard this before. It is simply the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard. Words don't even come close. That audience could still be applauding and it would not be enough.

That’s crazy! It’s been used in all kinds of pop culture. Quite a few musicians I can think of have referenced and/or sampled it as well.
No shade to you at all. It’s just really interesting to see someone who has never heard this. Especially the last movement.

It is certainly excellent, and one of the great!
But for THE greatest, I urge you to hear Worthy is the Lamb and Amen in Handel's Messiah.
We may hear Amen all by itself, but to truly affirm the word Amen, we need to know what comes just earlier, and that is Worthy is the Lamb. It is vital to see the lyrics of Worthy is the Lamb, and then move with the orchestra into the Amen.

With no doubt its the amalgament of human effort and creativity, all music played today was born from classic music, with Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, and this requiem from Mozart being the first true music ever played. Everey human being born with the gift of hearing must listen to this at least once in their lives.

What a superb performance!! I have been listening the Mozart's Requiem for about 40 years and this is certainly one of the best performances of this great work that I have ever heard. The orchestra - superb clarity and execution, the woodwinds - so central to the piece - exquisite! The timpanist - bang on in keeping the measure of the work, the brass section - incredible control and timing, the strings - beautifully clear and precise. The choir - excellent indeed! A special mention to the sopranos in the Domine Jesu at around 27:30 - stunning!!! But, all the sections of the choir thought were exceptional. If you are reading this and haven't given yourself to listen to this in full then I highly recommend you do. Thank you all for such a wonderful rendition of this glorious piece!!!!

Mozart's last line in Confutatis is:
"Please take care of my life and death."
Because of this sentence, many scholars believe that he was aware that he was about to die at that time.
This is why Mozart's first line in Lacrimosa is:
"This is a day worth weeping for the dead will rise from the dust."

An out of this world performance. This piece of music has always been sacred to me. For over 40 years. So many thoughts have always flied through my mind when listening to it. You can see in the faces of the performers that this is life and death music. It is not entertainment, it's so ripe of meaning it's almost scary. Today, during the corona hardship this brings a special meaning to me. On a daily basis I think of all those people who have died during this pandemic, and I am still alive. Many of them have payed with their lives for our freedom. For my freedom. In particular in Sweden who didnt have any lock down. I feel like the guilty one and have an obligation to do better. Mozarts Requiem is one of very few things that can express what I feel, and as the lyrics says, let all light be on them and may they rest in peace.

I think everyone on stage is younger than me. From Florida USA. I agree with a Brit’s comment; a beautiful culture. Respect. And Bravo all.

Some of the instruments might be older than us.

What a brillant interpretation! Some are so young and so talentuous! Like Pierre Corneille said "Je suis jeune, il est vrai ; mais aux âmes bien nées, la valeur n'attend point le nombre des années" ("I am young, it is true ; but in well born souls, valor does not wait for years"). Congratulations, ladies and gentlemen, juniores and seniores. Warm greetings from Beaujolais, France.
