I am extremely fair and live in a tropical climate. I get so much sh*t from people about not being tan! I can’t tan! I burn and peel! Honestly I wish people would stop commenting on those of us with fair skin. A tan means you have damaged your skin!

And the irony of that, is if a fair skinned (presumably white) person were to talk about someone being so dark naturally, they'd be racist/colorist. Everyone should embrace their own skin color and stop commenting unless it's complimentary.

I’m so fair skinned strangers have stopped me on the street to harass me about why I’m so pale. I heard ”ghost” and ”snow white” a lot growing up. Due to this I self tanned in my teens. Now I’m 26 and I like my unique skintone. Never let strangers make you feel like you have to make adjustments. They have no power here!

I really wish this video existed when I was a teenager because I could not figure out why every bronzer I tried on my skin made me look like I rubbed Cheeto dust on my face and made all my friends look like bronzed goddess. To be fair, back in the day, cool toned bronzers were not even a thing on the market, so I just skipped it all together for the longest time. These tips were great and took me years of trial and error to figure out the same things you shared in this video. Fair skinned ladies and gents - watch this video!

I'm a fair girl like you, and I live in Australia so the stigma around being tan is so strong! Most of family is tan or olive, and then there's me who's sooo much fairer. People will always tell me to self tan, use bronzer, go shades darker in foundations, you name it. Lucky for me I'm proud to be a fair skin girl, so I never listened to those people, but it can definitely be hard trying to find products that are light and enough and that suit our skin tones without making us look sick. This is was super helpful and I really appreciate having a fellow fair girl giving us the tips. ❤

a tip I have for fair skinned folk is whatever highlight you use, make sure that it is at least the same shade as your skin. Often times there is a gorgeous highlighter that looks amazing in the light, but once out of the light looks like a bruise on our skin. Especially since we are usually trying to lighten and brighten those areas, making them dark and brownish in the light is the opposite of our goal. So, either start with a dewy base or use a very fair highlighter. I personally like the mecca glow stick that is transparent, it gives a really lovely shine without any glitter and since it is transparent, it doesn't leave your skin looking weirdly dark. It looks especially gorgeous without makeup too.

Thank you so much for addressing this issue! No one else has, that I have ever seen! I’m also super pale and almost never wear foundation because it never seems to look all right, even if I think it matches my skin. I’m also guilty of self-tanning, but it seems to look better without foundation than my real skin tone does. I once went to a primary doctor who went on and on about how pale I was, I didn’t look healthy, I couldn’t possibly be half Italian, etc. etc. (I quit going to him.) I began to finally embrace my curly hair at age sixty, and I’m ready to embrace my fair skin now at age sixty nine. So I’m a late bloomer! 🤷‍♀️ Thanks again for all the tips and hacks! ❤

This was SO helpful! Thank you!! As a fair skinned girl, I have always struggled to find my perfect foundation shade. My skin looks exactly like yours so I will be stealing all your tips! I wish more people online or even celebrities would rock their fair skin. It’s so frustrating to see every influencer with a fake tan. I used to fake tan every week and as I’ve gotten older (I’m 31) I’ve realized how sad that is. I don’t need to paint my skin another colour to be beautiful. Also, ain’t nobody got time for that! 😂 I still struggle to feel confident in my skin sometimes, especially in the summer! So many people have made comments about it my whole life. A boy in high school once said to me out of the blue “I don’t understand, why don’t you just tan? You’d look so much better with a tan.” Clearly I never forgot that! Thank you for embracing your natural skin.

As a pale skin woman I have found Lisa Eldridge has over 40 different types of foundation so your tone and shade is there and you can usually purchase samples first to try before the product. Lately though I have not been interested in foundation but tinted sunscreen and the Australian gold botanical for fair skin is fantastic. It has only a slight tint and looks fantastic!

I'm shocked by the number of commenters saying that people make fun of or criticize their pale skin. I'm 41 and this happened to me in the early 90's in middle school....nonsense to be expected of middle schoolers, but I'm shocked that people much younger than me are still experiencing this in an era in which tolerance and diversity are supposedly embraced. Guess not. All skin tones/shades are beautiful and people are aholes. Rock your pale skin ladies!

My best fair skin beauty tip, especially when I don’t use self tanner and rock my natural cool Casper white😂:
    Rice Water!
Used for a few days, it dramatically reduces skin redness and evens out all the purpley/blue blotchiness.
The starch in it also makes it amazing as a toner before makeup, and somehow seems to melt my pores 🤷‍♀️

I’ve been pale all my life and ever since developing Lupus a few years ago, I’ve become even more pale bc I try to avoid the sun as much as possible, even if I’m using sunscreen, to avoid flaring up! A lot of your tips are ones I already kind of naturally started implementing as I learned to adapt how I do my makeup to MY skin tone (and not just the general guidance I saw in magazines/blogs/RUclips tutorials), but I learned a lot from you, too - especially the mascara hack! Genius!
Also, I hate that it’s so pricey, but that Gucci bronzer is like a holy grail for me - I never thought I’d be able to wear bronzer, but when Gucci finally released a shade light/cool-toned enough to look natural on me unlike other brands, it was a game changer and now I looooove bronzer…that bronzer specifically lol. I feel like it makes me look so healthy! I know Jones Road (Bobbi Brown’s new brand) recently came out with a range of powder bronzers with a similar lightest shade for fair skin, and I’ve seen some comments from people saying stuff like “that lightest shade doesn’t even look like a bronzer, that looks like a blush.” Like, exactly!! That’s what the pale folks need!!

Also super pale and neutral-olive toned that leans ever so slightly cool. I love using navy blue or deep purple as eyeliners as they play off my eyes well and still read as neutral if everything else is taupe and brown.
Also: blue and white foundation mixers are a godsend for helping get the perfect foundation match. Most pale foundations are either too pink or too yellow for me, so I’ll prefer to get a too yellow that is the right depth and then add a bit of blue mixer to pull it more towards my neutral-olive tone.

Great video and spot on for us fair skinned gals. The struggle is real. For years I bounced between wearing foundations that were just a tad too dark for me to avoid looking like a ghost. I need fairly full coverage due to broken capillaries (spider veins) I developed over time. A friend of mine recommended the SuperGoop products which I am in love with. I also use a color matching/correcting foundation Perbelle which creates a beautiful completely matching effect with that gorgeous glow of the ;Supergoop underneath. I have also changed to a brighter Peony pink for my cheeks and lips. I had always gone towards the grape-wine tones for my cheeks and lips because I have darker hair. But the pinker peony tone seems to lift and brighten my tones giving me a more youthful appearance. I am not heavy handed with it...just a light touch. Your video has validated my choices of colors, tones and products. It is not easy navigating all of the skin care lines. I used It Cosmetics for a long time, but they tended to flatten my facial structure probably because I could never find a good color match. Their CC Cream foundation is also very heavy. Your makeup application tips are spot on!

You are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing these tips. I used to be told I had the English rose complexion. As I get older, that moon look really bothers me. Now, I understand the problem. I think I can fix it now with these tips. (I’m 53.)
Also, I think skin care is really important. Some of us dry pales need gentle exfoliating to help with that glow. The secret for me was a once a week chemical peel. This sounds extreme but can be done at home. I’ve not done this recently and I realize this helps. I couldn’t really put my finger on why this worked so well I’m the past. Now, I have a fundamental understanding of glowy pale.
Pale ladies, it is so important to wear the correct colors. Light sky blue is fantastic for pale cool. I saw it on another woman with similar coloring to mine. I can usually count on getting a compliment every time I wear it.
Also, important to point out, we can look fantastic well into old age. I’ve seen these glowy older women. However, a healthy diet and exercise will “tell the truth” more on our skin. Another reason to take care of ourselves.
Sunscreen!!! I lived in the desert southwest for 25 years. Sunscreen and umbrellas were an obsession. I’m glad I was careful now. Thanks again, beautiful lady. 💕💕💕

a brilliant bronzer which is more affordable than the ones mentioned is the Iconic London in Lightest Bronze. It's absolutely fantastic, I bought even darker to contour and it works amazingly - also does not irritate my skin in the slightest! I think pale skin tends to be more sensitive for some reason which makes it a nightmare trying to find products!

I've always embraced my fair skin. I'm a premie of British and German descent, and because of that and the anti depressant I take, I'm very photosensitive, so much so that I burn if I don't wear sunscreen in any UV index higher than two. I wish I could tan, my great grandmother could go insanely dark, but alas. Though, thanks to E.L.F I have finally found a concealer that actually works with my very cool toned fair skin, I have almost no yellow in my skin so most concealers look orange on my skin. This has renewed my interest in makeup at 30

I’d pretty much given up on wearing much makeup myself because since I’m so fair, nothing ever looked as good on me as it would on others. It was very frustrating, and like you said, things just felt “off”. So thank you so much for putting this out for us fair skinned people! I am going to take so much away from this and likely rewatch it

I’m exactly the same with the undertones. Looking at my wrist I would say I veer to the cool side but neutral foundations look so much better on me.

Really pretty makeup! These tips are perfect for me. I am as fair as you, but I have a bit more redness and broken capillaries on my cheeks and nose, hence I've been probably overdoing the foundation. I'm going to try your tips, to be more glowy. I think it's gonna work well. Thanks! Instant subscriber!

I'm so happy to find this video (though a couple years late lol)! This has really cleared up a lot for me, especially how to keep/add dimension. 😭
I will say, in regards to lip color, I think the reason you specifically are able to get away with bright shades is more to do with your contrast than fairness. You seem to have medium contrast (same!), which gives a lot more wiggle room. But maybe you've already addressed that more recently, I'm new here, and thought I'd leave a tip for the low contrast girlies (soft seasons): go more nude! It will still look bright enough on you.

I'm a ginger with freckles and pale skin with pink undtones ✨️...I find that using very little foundation works best. Infact..I tend to mostly wear tinted serums/moisturizers, bb Creams or a very light weight foundation. If I need more coverage I will use a concealer. Also, I love my freckles and don't like covering them up. Thanks for the tips. This was a 👍 great video. You are beautiful. Take care 🙂 💕 💜.

I'm also super fair with a neutral/slightly cool undertone... and I wear Chanel N°1 BD01 foundation. That said, Alexandra Anele did a video with a blush hack that blew my mind. She mixed a little liquid or cream blush with a little foundation on the back of her hand... and got the mix on her brush and blended it out. She also did the same with a powder blush and powder foundation... or translucent powder. Very cool hack for those of us who struggle to keep blush looking soft and natural.

What a fantastic video!! I love the lower lashes tip. I can't wait to try it out! The explanation on the why we need glowy primers make so much sense. I've noticed the difference that has made in my foundation game since I started doing that, but never really understood why. Brilliant! ❤️❤️❤️

Loved your video. Here in Brasil, there is a lot of challenges if you have fair skin or dark skin too. Industry is getting really better here. A lot more shades 🙏 but still being difficult for fair neutral or olive skin. And for eyeshades, people think it's too crazy when we use colors and go out to buy bread (for example) 😊

I have about the same complexion and eye color as you, just with light freckles and naturally dark brown/blackish hair and I love it and all but finding (especially lip) shades that don't clash with me is an absolute nightmare.
I`m currently looking for my perfect classic red lip since I cut my hair short for the first time and feel like I can pull it off more casually now without feeling super extra 🙈😂
Clothes wise we can never go wrong with black basics and Jewel tones 🥰

I love this so much. I’ve really embraced my natural pale skin these last few years and fell in love with it. Which started after finding out I had some precancerous moles at the dermatologist. I used to HATE my pale skin, tanning sometimes twice a day.. but now my wedding day is coming up and I’m struggling to embrace it because my body has so much redness. Do you have any tips on pale body makeup?

A tip I learned looks really nice on pale skin is actually for cosplay…. For a neutral eye using your blush on your lower and upper lash line like eyeliner before doing your eye liner similar to how you did the ash grey and feather it out before doing a deep brown wing or black if you want it to be more club Smokey gives the eye more shape especially with a natural eye like you did here, you can mix it with the bronzer as well for a more doll eye

It's cuorius how I always wanted to have fair skin since many times I've been compared to my sister. People would tell me "you'd look prettier if your skin was whiter"or "Why aren't you blonde like your sister". Nowadays I got tired of that and finally learned to accept my kind of ivory skin tone. Anyways, thanks for this wonderful video, fair skin is beautiful and this helps people embrace it and take care of it 💞

Thank you so so so much for the video. I struggled for so long with makeup because most tips I heard when I first experimented with makeup products did not work for my very fair skin tone. Thank You ~ as a fair skinned, blue eyed blonde I am also embracing my paleness now. (brows are tough) And I learned the hard way about tone this past year. Bought the Lancome Teint Idole Stick Foundation in 215N. It looks grey on me, and awful. L'Oreal Tinted Serum in 05-2 is almost perfect for me. Kosas 2, mixed with a little darker is perfection. I have been on the fence about that Shiseido foundation, not certain of the shade I need. Alabaster looks too light for me Opal or Ivory may be better.
I have been using Lancome Cils Booster on my lashes first then only color my upper lashes with Definicils, the lower lashes are defined and more visible but still light with just the booster. Looks good. *I also like brown mascara
Gucci 01 and Guerlain Light Cool are now on my to buy list. Usually when I use bronzer it's way too obvious a color change, which is annoying.
I want to try the CT setting spray.
Often I make my own using filtered water and glycerin.
That pink shade blush by Rare Beauty looks so pretty and right up my alley. I have been using Rare Beauty Pinch blush in the shade Bliss. It is also pretty. Been eyeing those Melt blushes for quite awhile. Must try one soon! And well, Atelier anything is quite nice i$n't it? Have you tried their Nectar highlight stick yet? I WANT it.
Lippies are the most fun but I always gravitate to pinks. No nudes look alive enough. Reds are a bit too much, and messy. And dark browns or russets are a never-for-me. Those Atelier Lippies are also in my cart (Chou Chou, Nana, and Nou Nou)...waiting for my tax return for that brand though. 😉 Hearing nothing but good things on those.
So happy you shared all of this info.
Your finished look is so pretty.
    Nice to meet you Ashley.
    ~Happy New Year~

Nice to see a real fair girl instead of those medium beige faces they call fair on RUclips. I’m a cool number one in summer and number 0.5 in winter. Thanks again are you a professional makeup artist? I’d love to have someone really fair do my makeup in person. I’ve had my makeup done a few times and it always looks like clown makeup because the artist was intent on making me look darker. If so, where are you located?
