I'm a 45 year old hippie from Vermont and I think 100 gecs is amazing.
We respect 45 year old hippies from Vermont who think 100 gecs is amazing
I read that as from "walmart"

have you ever been in vershire or chelsea? pretty towns
Saw 100 Gecs in April and there was a noticeably older couple sitting front and center of the balcony. I saw them after the show leaving by themselves and they said "Have a good night!" and walked towards the parking lot, I said "I hope you enjoyed the show, it doesn't look like you were chaperoning" and the lady said "Oh, we're Dylan Brady's grandparents." Wonderful people.
Most St. Louis shit that ever happened to me.
This is amazing. My mom and i moved in witn my grandparents on her side after my parents split when I was a teenager. They put up with so much loud music and beating the absolute shit out of a drumkit during that time. Always so supportive. I miss my grandfather every single day of my life
I was there too! I remember Laura saying that her cousin (or some relative) was there, it's cool to know that Dylan's grandparents were there as well 😆
that is amazing
the only thing better than listening to 100 gecs is attempting to explain their music to your friends
"You just gotta give Stupid Horse a chance. Let it grow on you."
I just put it on in my car when we go somewhere. They can't change it, or escape.
I literally show them to every woman i date or even chat with in tinder in hopes of spreading the gospel of gecs. Out of the dozens ive shown them to i think a grand total of two have actually liked them along with a couple more who could tolerate them. I try to explain that its an acquired taste but they dont get it. Give it five years though but I bet a lot of mainstream pop will sounds like hyperpop
All my homies are blasting 100gecs
@@nedisahonkeysure hope that's what it sounds like in the future!
I absolutely did not expect Dylan to be so soft spoken outside of the music.
Him: I just want people to remember me as a good person and making fun music

When I saw them live he barely spoke, Laura did 99% of the talking
I feel like they're the voice of former bullied kids. Their fanbase is so diverse, you can't even attempt to put in a box. I'm an MD and probably look put together irl, but I've been a huge fan of them ever since their debut. And I've, unknowingly, been a fan of Dylan Brady for much longer. Dlyan, SOPHIE and AG Cook shaped the future of pop.
i remember them being really popular in 2020, it feels like if the internet made a noise it would be 100 gecs
The sound of the internet has to be a mix of 100 gecs, Death Grips and Peggy
I feel like melee players HAVE to like 100 gecs
@@-user_redacted- accurate
Its the poop of the internet
It would be the sound of Reddit not the internet.
Idk why but their story is so inspiring , as someone who has tons of ideas but no skill and alot of fear this made me cry
Ive been a fan since the beginning and cant fathom the level of creativity thats going on in their heads
Hey!! Skill is developed through action!!! Sit down and make some shit no matter how much it sucks!!!! And then keep making shit!!! ily!!!!!!!!!!!
omg youre both awesome
i have the same lack of skill and abundance of fear D:
i'm working on it slowly but surely.
If you're afraid of your creativity in any form, consider doing a diifferent style of art - like drawing, painting, or whatever you used to do as a kid in school. There is a PC game called Such Art that is super positive about putting colors on a canvas no matter your skill level. I believe creativity is a tap that you have to get running if you want to be your true self.
As they say "number one best time was 10 years ago but second best time is now" IT ALL BEGINS WITH THE FIRST STEP
Been in the community for a long time and always thought about a video that could have all this info in one spot, glad someone did it! Amazing work!
thank you :D
I discovered this group 3 weeks ago and I cannot stop listening to them and I force all my coworkers at the dispensary I work at to listen to them. I haven't felt this obsessed with a musical group in nearly a decade. Love them and they community they have formed. Dylan and Laura are two of the best musicians alive. Period.
sounds like a lovely dispo
Enjoy man. Gecs is an insane experience when you listen to them grow and evolve.
Buckle up sunshine. It's an amazing ride.
love them
Yeah man totally feel the same
Absolutely mind blowing that this only has this many views, this is super high quality
glad you liked it!
i assumed this was like a viral video essay until i read this comment lol, guess i gotta send this to people who’d be interested.
it did well over the year :)
I discovered 100 gecs when one of my friends invited Laura Les to perform at a punk house in chicago-I cannot believe how big they became soon thereafter
Dude, a youtuber with 2k subs making an hour long vid, thats dedication, this shit better pop-off, and the editing and research is actually mad good
a fan no doubt but mad footage hey
always quality with this guy
I have adhd and the way you made this video kept me so focused. the production is amazing, keep on rising. keep on going, just like 100 gecs, find your own niche you got this
Sounds like Dylan understands that you can appreciate the way something sounds without wanting to binge it over and over again. There songs I don’t like but I can appreciate why people do.
same mate
This is Absolutely beautiful, creative, and full of musical depth in their own story!
Long saying short, it’s an incredible documentary! Iv seen my fair share of small 100 Gec documentary’s and as a hardcore fan I can proudly say, None of them come to close to compete detaile from beginning in their childhood to who we know now as 100 Gecs today as this documentary does. This documentary in my personal opinion deserves to be played and official on Theatre screens across the country. All the details you had in this one documentary was more detailed than a single interview you can find on them as people on Google on Wiki. And the fact that you didn’t just focus on Laura and Dylan was amazing! There were so many amazing artists that help Laura and Dylan on their path to success and find their way to the top, as you mentioned PC Music, Charlie XCX, AG Cook, Skrillex and many many more! If this isn’t the OFFICIAL 100 Gecs documentary I honestly don’t know what is! I am constantly amazed by how much research you put into this video! I hope this video blows up and maybe Laura and Dylan themselves will watch it! The credit given to them is incredible. Their individual stories and paths to success are amazing! This documentary wasn’t just a documentary on 100 Gecs it was a movie that really gets in between the cracks of who we know as 100 Gecs today. This documentary deserves a golden award of some sort cause this was a Beautiful story of 100 Gecs! 🦎🦎

so when is this entire channel gonna blow up?
once it gets put on soundcloud
Very soon
@@solidsnake7292 tell me when :(
i wanna thank you for this, it was really inspirational
i moved to the city to go to an alternative high school focused on music, while working on my personal projects. and so i heavily relate to the struggles of the two, and hopefully I'll end up relating to their successes
also, rest in peace sophie. its difficult to state her influence on hyperpop and experimental pop
I hope this pops off because it deserves to have so much more attention, what an amazing documentary. Thank you so much for bringing all of these stories together in such a beautiful and meaningful way. The way you described transition was just... wow. I've never heard anyone describe it so well. Overall just incredible, wishing you so much success with this channel!!
love gecs. this is the kind of band to have green sludge, an apple core, a bent tin can, and a fish skeleton in their garbage
That's the most accurate description of 100 gecs I've seen
Glued to my seat the entire time. Great way to tell this story. Can't wait to see this break thousands of views :)
Been a Dylan Brady fan for almost a decade now. His influence is insanely profound very few people actually understand how impactful he is on the current state of underground music, far beyond "hyperpop" and 2020 and however people are wanting to box everything in
i've blown so many people's minds by bringing up dylan's history and presence in music hahahaha. truly a musical phenomena
Yeah I don’t get this 2020 stuff, Dylan and 100 gecs are more relevant today than ever
also great video btw im not referencing any issue w it in this comment
so real
of course I still love you on soundcloud changed my life
I heard them for the first time at Coachella ‘22, it was jarring, yet at times extremely catchy. Def was not something I will ever forget. It felt like one of those ‘this is so weird & I can’t stop watching this’ situations.
Seen them live twice now, definitely the most fun concerts i've ever been to. I'd never really heard of hyperpop before gecs, and its now my favorite genre. I've found so many other artists through their music, being a fan has just been such a wonderful experience.
as a dylan brady fan since 2015 you did a SMASHING job and mentioning some names that a lota people would have left out. very good video
love this video! people talk about musical soulmates, two artists who work together so perfectly. i feel like these two are absolutely like that, and i love the songs that come out of their collaborations.
You really dropped the ball not naming this "a geccumentary".
I literally thought this while it was loading.
HE NEEDS TO RENAME IT
i came to this video because i saw the thumbnail and wanted to look for this comment or write it myself.
Oh ouch. Wouldn't even be mad if they changed the name, yo.
They just did
incredible video, ive found no one else really has gone into the pre 1,000 gecs stuff and that first EP does not get NEAR the amount of love it should
This was an amazing eye opening documentary to me. I learned SO much and it's motivated me to really further my music, in a way like they have. This documentary deserves more views, it's absolutely amazing and the research you put in to it is insane.
This documentary has single-handedly taught me to not be so critical of my works and just MAKE MUSIC, put out as much as I can and make it from the heart, as they have been doing.
Thank you so much for this.
Happy you made this! Became a huge gecs fan recently but knew about them for a few years. Suddenly the music clicked and I cant get enough. I love both laura les and dylan brady’s solo stuff and love how inclusive the community is!!!
I love them so much. It blows my mind when other people don’t understand how amazing and revolutionary their sound is.
I love em too but it's not mind blowing at all. Definitely not for everyone haha
I listened to all of Dylan's solo stuff throughout 2020 and it was a ride
banger after banger
been waiting for years for a seriously good documentary on these two. as my favorite band for the last 4 years, you did justice! awesome work dude.
I had no idea Dylan produced half the music I listen to… but I’m not at all surprised
This is so well done.
Besides getting actual interviews with the band you've managed to tell the perfect gec story that once started doesn't really stop or have any filler or low points. I watched the whole thing before realizing it was almost an hour long, fantastic pacing. Please make more.
V well assembled documentary. Thank you for this, it actually has me crying and laughing and wailing. Bring on ONE BILLION GECS bring it please you two crazy Gecs i love you
Incredible work. Top notch quality, editing and pacing. Keep it up!
Insane documentary, I've been playing 100 Gecs newest album nonstop and they've quickly become my most favorite band, awesome work
been listening since the EP and finally saw them live last tuesday. long live the geckos
So much mystery behind this duo. Love the chaos+pop noises they create!
As a new gec fan since 10,000 gecs came out this was a really good rundown on their history. great docu
Fantastic doc.
Also, Logic Pro X and Pro Tools are two separate DAWs. A minuscule error, but as a Logic user, I felt compelled to write something. Mostly because
Logic is known for doing everything Pro Tools does while being more accessible.
so which one was it?
@@spambot7110 logic pro was used in the video
omg just as my hyperfixation on 100 gecs starts u post this THANK YOU SO MUCH
I can't believe this vid isn't even at 1000 views- absolutely amazing job, didnt look away from my phone one second
i just had a whole whiplash moment because i totally slept on 100 gecs but i used to listen to dylan bradys music in like 2015/16 so seeing him so successful really really makes me happy - and i am glad to rediscover him through 100 gecs, that music is bomb!
my appreciation of 100 gecs is on another level after watching this. good documentary
it increased by atleast 100 levels
The fact that _100 Gecs_ doesn't fit snugly in any genre is exactly why I love them.
holy shit that was good. surprised this doesn't have 500k views yet
VERY COOL!! I’ve been waiting for someone to make a video like this.
crazy that a minecraft festival is one of the biggest reasons 1000 gecs even exists today.
Also are you like... a huge EmpLemon fan? I know they aren't HIS songs, but you seem to use a lot of the songs he uses in his essays and documentaries. He's probably my favorite RUclipsr at the moment so his style and approach is incredibly recognizable to me. Anyway thanks for the content, this is an insane amount of work and research into 2 goofballs just being goofballs with music on the internet and I like that a lot.
Big Summer Jams is the first Gecs related thing I heard. I've been a fan of Devi McCallion for a decade so her feature as Girls Rituals was my intro to Laura.
Been loving Gecs since. Just saw them last Tuesday for the second time after they were one of the few shows I could go to in 2020.
best video essay about the best modern music duo yet
Been enjoying gecs casually for a while and now since the second album listening more and more. This was a really entertaining watch to get to know the band better. Thank you for this video
Somehow this video inspired me so much that I went from being depressed when I watched this, feeling like I wasn’t achieving anything to getting a huge promotion due to trying my hardest. Thank you whatever channel this is/1000 gecs.
Awesome documentary, thank you for making this! 100 gecs is a genius phenomenon manifesting in music, much love to Laura & Dylan!
just saw them in Seattle the other night, was easily the most fun and best show Ive been too all year 🤘🏻
Literally looked for a gecs doc like two weeks ago. You absolute legend
Happy to see this in my recommended. You're gonna blow up bro. Its gone up 3k views since I started watching it
I always loved 100 gecs from the moment I heard ring tone I was on the train, I can say that they have some ridiculous concerts but they're so ridiculous that they're fun and I think they have something special to them that others can't rock with and that's ok. I love the music they make no matter how it sounds, because I know that what they make is genuine and awesome, thanks for this video man!
a gecumentary, if you will
true real and based
I’m so glad that i have discovered the truth thank you so much for helping me along in my journey
I’m not the biggest fan of the style of 100 gecs but this documentary was fascinating and was really well done! Super cool to learn their backstories!
i loved this, i had no idea about their backstory! thank you
This just inspires me to continue down the rabbit hole and listen to some of the stuff on this vid plus his past stuff
You weren't lying on the documentary part, kudos really you did an amazing job
thanks for your work! this is a really nice documentary, i like how it covers both backgrounds of Dylan and Laura and gives a good overview of their art. thanks once again! it was a pleasure to watch
One of my favorite early works is Ditch a body in the laundry, I think it was by Laura only but hell what a good track
dylan's on that track too, what a good one!
thank you so much for making this video
i didn't mean to watch an hour long documentary, but every bit was fun, thanks!!
THIS IS SO WELL-MADE! Super impressed, hopefully this video blows up
Thank you for such an in-depth documentary, really enjoyed that!
I had to get not to cry this whole video. Im at work. I loved this so much, thanks
i love 100 gecs so fucking much one of the best concerts ive been to
Love the video didn't even realize it was an hour long 😭
This is amazing!!!! This channel is criminally undersubscribed. Keep it up
ive recently gotten super obsessed with their new music and ive been looking to learn more about them as musicians. this is a fantastic way to do so!!
If you keep putting out quality content like this, you'll be huge in no time!
Amazing documentary dude.
I just started listening to them and boy are they an ear worm. But what’s best is that they seem like just fun genuine ppl. The authenticity really shines through and I love how open they are to just music and life itself. Feels really sweet to just listen to two friends make fun ass music
collection of stuff i knew with a sprinkle of something new. nice. i love gecs
What a great documentary!!! I excited full screen expecting you to have something like 500k subscribers and 2.8k?! That can’t be right. Excited for you to get more attention
Commenting to boost the views on this masterpiece 10/10 studio quality doc
Heard big truck awhile back, but things really clicked with doritos and fritos and now I can't get enough Gecs. Loving how well put together this is, and how much of Dylan and Laura's previous stuff I'm just learning about for the first time here, A fucking Plus content
THis was super well done my dude. I hope YT pays off for you. Keep up the hard work man. Hard work stands out on this platform and it's noticed.
very good documentary, big shoutout to you
Honestly the first song I heard of theirs was a collab with the band Health called Power Fantasy - it's an older song. I liked it so I started listening to more of their stuff. I have to be in the right mood but I really like them.
so happy I found this video, and finding out Dylan produced DRUGS just made my night
So many songs that I jam out to all the time produced by this dude I had kniw idea
i am so glad i stumbled upon this video
I thought this video was popular until I realized It only has 600 views. Hope your work blows up!
6:00 not the local58 song omg... i know it's stock music but having it the background scrambles my brain hahaha
(loving the doc so far btw)
43:02 ayyyy our war game B)
DUDE DYLAN PRODUCED LOVELL'S STILL COLD??? It's without any exaggeration my favorite song of all time and ive been also listening to it since like 2016 when lovell was a nobody
sht man i got major goosebumps, they literally worked on music that completely changed my perception of music when i was a teen
i dont remember when i was this shocked about something
Dylan had a hand in producing every song on Red Teenage Melody! I think he only like 100% produced Just Tryna though
@@dayoftheweaknice, that explains why the beats from that tape are the most unique from his discography
I feel the same way about Lil Aaron's Glowing Pains. I saw him open for Blackbear like 2016/2017 and I was hooked. Had no idea until now Dylan produced his music. It all makes sense now.
I’ve been curious about their backstory. Great video!
lol brave using summoning salt's intro/wrap up music towards the end. good doc!
This video is amazing, definitely needs more recognition!!
Amazing video!! The quality and the research and the presentation are all outstanding. I watched the whole thing through without feeling disinterested one time. N I’ve watched a few “the story of 100 gecs” videos before but they’ve all been pretty vague n not contained that much information so I’m very happy to see that this video has that!
thanks for the vid and shoutout!
100 gecs first music release speaks to my inner gec
I love the ep so much, its great to know they had a shitton of fun making it
Amazing video, thank you for making it!
Such an immaculate and engrossing video. Fabulous job!
just saw them in Chicago a few days ago, it was a spiritual experience
You killed it. Thank u.
