    My Minimalist Journey of Decluttering shoes has been a long and painful one, at times expensive. I'm finally in a place where I'm ready to start letting go and getting rid of my shoes, albeit without being wasteful.
    Here I show why I have decided to give up 'normal' shoes and adopt a majorly barefoot way of life. Whilst also opting for non typical shoes like zero drop, sandals and soft open materials. Shoes have always been uncomfortable for me. It seems to be the one area of my minimalist journey, that I still, despite my efforts cannot be intentional. The shoes never turn out to be what they claim- comfortable! Often shoes that appear and feel comfortable at first are not after a few actual walking miles.
    The weight and thickness of the soles of the average shoe are also troublesome. Not Only are they heavy but they are thick, clumsy and make it difficult to truly feel the earth beneath our feet. Even balancing on less than even surfaces is difficult in most normal shoes.
    See me finally get rid of some shoes I’ve been meaning to declutter for some time and some that I've only just decided, have simply gotta go. To make way for comfort and a more minimalist mindset approach. In order to only keep and wear footwear that is fitting with my minimalist lifestyle and minimalist objective.
    I want shoes that are light to pack and to walk in. Shoes that feel almost barefoot with zero drop. Shoes that allow me to have less shoes all round because they are versatile flexible and sustainable.

    I also prefer to be barefoot and HATE uncomfortable shoes. The most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever had are called 5 toe shoes. I'm not sure if they are as popular there as in the states but they look like gloves and each toe has its own separate space. They have great soles and you can run, hike and get them wet. They are not really attractive but I love them and they are a conversation starter.

    Yes, shoe buying can be frustrating, and shoes are not cheap nowadays. I have been thinking of buying the zero drop shoes for some while now so I am interested to know how you get on with yours. I have five pairs of shoes all told, and in the past have mostly bought Hotter shoes, which are comfortable and last a long time. I bought a pair of Birkenstock sandals this summer just to wear for house shoes as I don't like slippers. They are pretty amazing and have been so comfortable. I shall buy another pair to wear outside next summer to replace my old sandals. The other thing I did this summer was to get a pair of shoes resoled that I wear in summer when I cannot wear sandals. That cost me the grand total of £29 and money well spent I think. It made the shoes comfortable again and there was nothing wrong with the tops of the shoes. I am also hating sock buying. There seems to be something wrong with every pair I have bought lately! So sick of it - I Hate Socks!

      I’ll do an update maybe on how I get on 😊 I’d like to think I might me ok with the barefoot shoes because I practically live in sandals. There the only thing that I’ve ever found comfortable because of my very small feet, shoes of all other varieties have just always fit obscurely. I suppose because of the shape too. All I know is for me they can’t be more uncomfortable than how all my others rub or slide 😂 but I’ve heard people say if you have high arches, barefoot shoes can sometimes make your feet ache a lot, due to the lack of support. Until you get use to it 😊

    I am so confused, as i read your title of I am getting rid of all my shoes and you go on to buy more shoes. why not just go barefoot?

    • @SagelifeMinimalism
      @SagelifeMinimalism  9 месяцев назад +1

      I do want to go completely barefoot when I’m in a climate and location that will accommodate it more easily. I currently live in a busy town centre, with lots of glass in the middle of winter? I also suffer from bad circulation in my feet, so I’m thinking I’d get pneumonia? So I thought I’d try something similar to being barefoot ie: the barefoot shoes. All the shoes I’ve gotten rid of, I had to accept did not fit me correctly. Have you tried being barefoot before in a cold urban setting? I’d love to know if it’s actually realistic or possible? Without losing a toe 😊

      @@SagelifeMinimalism The part of your video that have a issue with is the title, I was expecting a video of someone living a total barefoot life. I do understand that that is impossible for most. Where i live the temp goes down to minus 30c and total snowfalls up to 4 meters . I do have 2 pairs of mukluks and 2 pairs of minimalist shoes but still manage to be barefoot fot 10 months of the year. As for broken glass after a few years of barefoot life you will not have to worry about that anymore

    I totally get issues with feet. I have 'claw' toes on my right foot due to having MS and have to wear 'sensible shoes' or I'm saying hello to the floor😂. I live in my Columbia sandals in summer and I'm literally so sad to go to shoes/boots for other seasons. I'm currently wearing my Scarpa walking shoes now (a true bargain for £1 in my local charity shop!!) but oh I miss my sandals 😂. Does anyone else get frustrated just storing footwear? My Husband takes size 13 and it's like trying to house canoes😂😂😂. Brilliant video as always Lydia xxx
