- His simple funeral was held at All Saints Episcopal Church with musical selections played from Bogart's favorite composers, Johann Sebastian Bach and Claude Debussy. It was attended by some of Hollywood's biggest stars, including Katharine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, David Niven, Ronald Reagan, James Mason, Danny Kaye, Joan Fontaine, Marlene Dietrich, Errol Flynn, Gregory Peck and Gary Cooper, as well as Billy Wilder and Jack Warner. Bacall had asked Tracy to give the eulogy, but Tracy was too upset, so John Huston gave the eulogy instead, and reminded the gathered mourners that while Bogart's life had ended far too soon, it had been a rich one.

Cooper, Peck, Tracy, Dietrich... it's great to see all those legends who are long gone now. There will never be a star generation like this.
The late, great Humphrey Bogart was (is) my all time favourite, ultimate top of my list of favourite actors! Plus the fact that he looked like my beloved Dad💖 helps a lot! x
Heartbreaking shot of his widow & son at the end.
" I never should ha have switched from scotch to martinis" Supposedly said by Bogie to Spencer days before his death.
The love and respect for Humphrey Bogart speaks volumes by the attendance of the general public paying their own respect's to one of Hollywood's finest actors of the golden age of the silver screen along with his family and friends and colleagues God bless you sir RIP.🇬🇧☮️🙏💎😎
rip
Flynn didn't know he'd be doomed.
The noise is old movie reel sounds which was added by a Bogart website.
THANKS FOR SHARING THE LAST GOOBYES OF SUCH AN ICON
THERE IS NO OTHER BOGART MY BROTHER INTRODUCE ME TO HIS FILMS AT THE AGE OF EIGHT IN 1968 AND I LOVE ALL HIS FILMS
As a youngster I adored Bogie I was so in love with him watched all his movies. My favorite Casa Blanca. Guess what I'm born and raised in Casa Blanca a neighborhood in California.
loved bogart movies, had most all on vhs at one time, when satelite dishes were just starting up and turner movie network would play them, mostly after midnight. i cant imagine bogie by himself, i always remember the *characters* that surrounded him, becall, peter lorre, sydney greenstreet, edward g robinson, claude riens etc., nothing like staying up late or a rainy night and pop in a bogart movie
loved bogart movies
hellboywithhorns......Man, do you ever have that right!!!
What fascinating footage. Thanks for sharing :)
I wonder what Humphrey Bogart would think about the generation theses days?😕 To me he probably wouldn't like it.
I understand what you're saying, but I don't think he'd be critical of the generation. He was kind and philosophical, forward thinking in the way of many artists. (Too, 'this generation' didn't wreck the planet: It's been left to them to try and save it.) Peace to all who read this.
🌊📿🙏
"Where I'm going, you can't follow. What I've got to do, you can't be any part of.. someday you'll understand that.... here's looking at you kid."
They don't make 'em like Bogie any more.
Jon Goldney Thanks for that dialogue fr. the end of "CASABLANCA ." Our Movies & the Stars are just, as was said in another great Bogart film, "The Maltese Falcon.," " the stuff that dreams are made of .... "
No disrespect ..but those lines were written by the screenplay writer, and Bogie just had to say them.
so what it was how they are said
when they began their career as a pro actor they cared about their public and quality of their presentation and for family ,they loved their country ,family ,god and had integrity. They are missed-all stars in hs era.

Imagine how glorious Heaven is with these wonderful people....
Kat35 Lulu ...i wonder if there were any of them other than Reagan who even believed in Jesus Christ, who was given the task of "...seeking & saving the lost". WITHOUT HIM, there will not be a single solitary ONE of us in that Heaven, which is His home. Now tell me, would YOU invite ANYONE to spend eternity in YOUR home if they cursed you, denied that YOU were who you say you are, and sought to discredit YOU at every turn, & did everything to bring shame and misery to YOU? MANY ppl do exactly that to Jesus til the day they die. Then you think they are in Heaven?
Sorry, nice thought but, we make our CHOICE while we're alive. After that it's too dang late. So, friend. I hope you choose to believe in Him & honor His Holy name & ASK Him to be your Savior before it's too late. Because, 1 minute we're alive. The next we could be dead. It happens all the time. God be with you.
ohwhatelse I do believe..... and I know what you said is right! Thanks for the reply..... I just want Heaven to be the paradise the Bible promises..... God bless you too.....

It was a model of Bogie's sailboat the "Santana."
Great footage! Thank you!
So respectful! Thanks for the info & posting this video.
It was more of a memorial service, as Humphrey Bogart was being cremated at Forest Lawn.
He was indeed cremated, and is interred at Forest Lawn in a key locked privat part of the cemetery. Only specific members have a key to the entrance door. I asked a service porter for access and was flatly denied,,,even for 500 bucks! I did manage to snap a telephoto picture vbck in the days of film. Bogie was quoted as saying this: "The only thing I owe the public is entertainment." I'm former US Navy, and thought perhaps he might privilege his shipmates, but I was wrong. Some Hollywood types remain in their new found clique, excluding all others forever.
The legend that was Jimmy Cagney also attended the funeral. I'm surprised he wasn't shown here.
Note the serious demeanors and absence of waving to onlookers.
That truly was a whose who of Hollywood attending to say a fond farewell to a much loved and respected colleague and friend. Thank you for sharing.
Spotted Ronald Reagan at 0:44
No, titicamote2, Bogie's ashes are not inside of the sailboat. At the time of the funeral his remains were being cremated at Forest Lawn in Glendale.
Great Video !
Thanks for sharing :-)
this was when they had real stars actors not the pos crap today
They have been replaced by video game movies and CGI's.
So so true, not the phoneys who need a phalyanx of bodyguards to enter a bar, unlike Flynn, Mitchum and [I will exclude here that phoney Wayne, draft dodger and screen hero], concentrate instead on the real Hollywood heroes, the ones from the 1930's and 40's.
Amen to that so true
Using vulgarity to describe a large number of people who are strangers is... ironic at best.
The stars of yesteryear.
The great Spencer Tracy squirming to get away ... he and Hepburn had visited Bogart the night before he died.
Anne Roy And apparently Bogart said 'goodbye Spence' instead of goodnight which he usually said.
They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway
I went to Forest Lawn, wanted to pay respects to Bogie but unfortunately he's in a locked section. I wonder if Ms Bacall was laid to rest near him.
What a classy group of Hollywood people.
though may be nt well known was that actresses ann sheridan after gregory peck they worked together at Warner Brothers.
He died in 1957. If he did not smoke, he might have lived to 90 which would mean he would have still been with us until 1990 or so.
Yeah, it is too bad he died so young. If he didn't smoke, his drinking would have sent him to an early grave as well; but, perhaps not so early.
weather he smoked or not he was going to die on the very day he did and that;s all there is to it...Geeez!
swampmammytheone
No swamp. He died much sooner than he should have. Smoking caused him to die much younger. If he had not smoked, he would have lived much longer.
Bbarfo
That is BS everyone dies when they are suppose to die not any sooner and not any longer but at there exact time! Everyones days are numbered from birth! Like I said smoking had nothing to do with it, no more than Grace Kelly dying in a car wreck. Don't believe it go to a nursing home and I assure you at least one person is there because they tried to kill them selves in one form or another and yet they lay there 24/7 waiting for death sometimes for years. Or a car wreck victim who should have died but didn't, lays in a coma yet still alive.....My grand father smoked his whole life and died at age 86 from old age not smoking...
swampmammytheone
bogie died from cancer of the esophagus which had spread. It is caused mainly by smoking. ...And boy did he smoke!!
leslie howard pointed out bogy too play movie parts too directers''' and bogy later named his first born Leslie
I watched a lot of Bogarts movies and other great stars like laren Bacall and realize one thing there will never be great films like this again. All the films they have now have sex violence, drugs swearing
But you just can't beat some of these classics. You don't need all that extra stuff to portray a good film. It's too much and it's overkill.
Those attending are all dead themselves now.
Yep pretty much so.
Hillary Rodham Clinton?
@@stuartlee6622 Hillary is not there. What are you talking about?

It would help to identify these golden age of Hollywood actors as some of the footage is very dark on people’s faces!
Spencer Tracey, Errol Flynn, Peck, Danny Kaye and David Niven were definitely there
Ricky Rowlands Thanks, I got about 30 of the male star and their wives but some dark - haired women were harder to identify with large sunglasses covering their faces.
Ricky Rowlands I knew when certain men who had long -term marriages like Ronald Reagan. Gregory Peck, and Dick Powell were there, their wives would be with them.
Spencer Tracy rushing by camera.
I read that he was operated on for his cancer. Cancer tissue removed. Not pretty to look at. He died shortly after.
He died 11 months after his surgery.
what is the life!. Errol Flynn and Gary Cooper would die shortly after this funeral.
Hepburn was not visible in this footage but she attended.
Where's Joan Fontaine there?
I wonder what's on that table at 0:14z
That's a lot of respect. Light music instead of annoying camera sound would be better!
Do you mean Katharine or Audrey? :)
I mean at 0:14.
bogart's cremated remains??
Omg, I know what the sound is. I was just saying it could be interpreted as gunfire therefore seeming disrespectful :/
Was that Johnny Stampanoto with Lana Turner?
No, it is Lex Barker, the man who raped her daughter Cheryl during the time they have been married.....
LEX BARKER!!!!
Why was David Niven so enraged? Did someone say something to him, was it the "little people" gawking or did the cameras piss him off?
Ima Speck probably from all the cameras around taking pictures of bogie's friends grieving
Jan 57??
I had to stop watching. Between the disrespect of people with cameras there, and this movie sounding like gunfire... I don't think any n attendance would be honored. :/
Who's the hell us da Fucking noise?
You're too young to understand hipster.
ANOTHER EVENT for the rich and famous to see and be seen
Since when was Ronald Reagan a big hollywood star?
Reagan appeared in Dark Victory with Bogie and he was also the president of the Screen Actors Guild.
You need to set your politics aside. At the time of Bogie's funeral Reagan was still a democrat and involved very much in the motion picture industry. One did not have to be a "big Hollywood" star to attend the funeral.
sluggo1776
***** He was a good actor. What the hell does it matter if he was a Republican or a Democrat at that time? Some people will never learn.
@sluggo1776
Dummy.
