DVI state prison in California. Opened in 1953 and closed in 2021. I Worked there for 26 years, I chose this cheesy song as background music because when I was hired almost each morning this song would play on my car radio en route to a 6 am shift. Whenever I hear it I think of my early days there.

Piano Sonata #14 (Moonlight) Beethoven
As the last M.A.C. Secretary of DVI, and a former lifer who spent decades in the prison system, I feel DVI was one of the best run prisons I went to. Prisoners and staff had a generally decent rapport. Many things ran better than at other places, such as the canteen. Sure, the place was physically run down, the reverse osmosis plant didn't always work, and we had to share the place with three separate programs: mainline, RC, and SPU. But I've been to worse prisons, and heard stories of prisons I never made it to. On the other hand, I wasn't at DVI when it was known as The Gladiator School, because I was a kid in Folsom State Prison trying to survive. P.S. I liked this video.
How can I go there? Looks nice af
Whoever made this vid has superb institutional instinct...perfect song to score it with..⭐⭐⭐⭐.
Thank you.
Man i turned 19 in Tracy 1979
Went there 3 times glad never again
Would love to know what Frank put on the record player @00:37
Do not forget, Richard Burton!
Two monkeys just stole my Bentley and shot my 🐕😢😮
I'm in NYC now. Just got shot😢
That was Richard Burton !!!! You can tell he was very hungover and was known for being a horrible alcoholic who frequently was passed out unconscious drunk somewhere in Bogie and Bacalls home while others paid him no mind. Thanks.
If people only did research to find out what they are worshipping. Lot of evidence showing that El and Yahweh were separate gods. If a god exists, he has done a very poor job at communicating things clearly or setting the record straight.
Sadly, most people don't want to know. Gods are a security blanket for them.
One night my toilet kept flushing by itself and sink was gushing out black water after playing the ouija lol my celly was trippen he's the one that told him to come at night we was stuck in the hole just another memory to add to the list c o called me santa Claus when I would go to the store lol last thing I remember I left my celly with everything I had he still had 2 years to go hope he made it out safe fkn memories AR3856 number I left behind living my life 4 kids working in the refinerys my own home just trying to make it in life I'm out!!!!!

I did time in Tracy. Not at the jail, but down the road with my ex wife. It was horrible.

Been there done that
THERE IN 75 THEN WENT TO QUIMAS
I watched a lot of Bogarts movies and other great stars like laren Bacall and realize one thing there will never be great films like this again. All the films they have now have sex violence, drugs swearing But you just can't beat some of these classics. You don't need all that extra stuff to portray a good film. It's too much and it's overkill.
Note the serious demeanors and absence of waving to onlookers.
I miss it🥹
I had some fun in the R.C east and west hall 2015 did 90 days here
90 day observation?
I did time here in East and west hall 2015 CDCR Aw4485
wow! Arlene Francis and Martin Gabel on Sinatra's boat. This is beautiful. Who is the guy clowning around in the long sweater?
Am I the only one that says the water tastes like shit?
Bro I was there 2015 and the water was still shit East and west hall
@@joeyjohnson38damn, East and West Hall. That takes me back.

what is the life!. Errol Flynn and Gary Cooper would die shortly after this funeral.
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL. YOU MAKE EVERYONE SEEM SO DEDICATED AND HEROIC. IT IS ROMANTIC DRAMA CAPTURED FROM REALITY AND PRESERVED FOREVER. HOWEVER, I SUSPECT THAT FORMER RESIDENTS MIGHT NOT BE SO ENCHANTED BY THESE IMAGES OF THESE SPECIAL PEOPLE FROM THAT SPECIAL PLACE AND TIME.

0:41 Oh, such an appropriate song, and my favorite of Sinatra’s. 😊
Great stuff , but it looked like Helen Keller dressed Sinatra back then.
Flynn didn't know he'd be doomed.
DVI from July 85 thru October 89. Great place with great staff. Had a good time.
I heard it was a ton of fun in the 80s.

DVI 1982 -2009!
Nice job, B.N.
Thanks. Wouldn't be complete without you in it.
Never forgot you Steve!
Great video, I miss the old place tons of memories
Are the photos you used yours? Im asking because my grandfather was a guard at DVI when my mom was growing up and I’m curious if there might be some pictures of him floating around somewhere? His name was Bill Crowl and he worked the yard from 1962-1964
Many photos are some I have collected. Only a few go back to the 50's and 60's though. If your grandfather only worked there for a couple of years, there probably won't be much to search for.
Gosh...Richard Burton was a very handsome man.
Wow. Richard Burton looked unbelievable. This was a great home video, thanks for sharing!
That's a lot of respect. Light music instead of annoying camera sound would be better!
That truly was a whose who of Hollywood attending to say a fond farewell to a much loved and respected colleague and friend. Thank you for sharing.
