    Have you ever wondered how artisans make beautiful, handmade rugs?
    In this short film, The Rug Mine presents a step-by-step guide that shows how rugs are made in Afghanistan. The hard-working artisans who make these beautiful rugs spend up to a year or more to make them. Although we tried our best to show each step of the rug-making process, you should know that there are many more sub-steps to complete the rug. And, once complete, these gems become heirlooms that will last for generations to come.
    To get your hands on these make-you-feel-good rugs, please visit therugmine.com.

    I'm so proud to be Afghan, being born in America I always wished I lived in Afghanistan. I remember going to Kabul and I felt instantly at home, I felt like first time in my life I finally belonged. If only my parents county would be set free and their would be an end to all these horrible wars. I will always love Afghanistan and am grateful Allah SWT made me both Muslim and Afghan 🙏🙏

      You're more than welcome to go back and stay anytime. There is nothing wrong with appreciating where your families culture comes from, but you should realize that you are also an American and appreciate that just as much. Obviously, your family came here for a reason. There are people dying every day trying to come here. Please respect them by realizing how fortunate you are.

    Wow. There are actually a lot of steps involved in making a carpet. In most documentaries, they only show women weaving carpets, or sometime men dying the yarn.

      @@timduncan1422 yes they use natural dyes like fruits plants walnut shells tree bark etc. the natural red you see is definitely pomegranates. I just ordered $8000 worth from Afghanistan to be delivered to my doorstep. Iran makes awesome rugs Turkey and Afghanistan. Make sure you don’t get it wet too much dry it as best possible, keep it away from sunlight exposure too long. And don’t use commercial chemicals to clean it. Use only water and soft natural detergents. You can wash them gently and leave it in the sun to dry, you will only need to wash them every 4-5 years they won’t get dirty quickly either.

    "The art of washing the rug takes years to master"
    Umm... I'm going to go ahead and say that the women's job of actually weaving the thing is probably the hardest thing to learn to do properly and consistently without making mistakes.

    • @therugmine988
      @therugmine988  3 года назад +2

      And you’re absolutely right! Afghanistan’s female artisans are world-renowned masters in their craft, and weaving is the most difficult aspect of the rug-making process.

    Sad part is Afghans rugs get sold into Iran and pakistan and go out as Pakistani and Iranian. With respect to Iran they also make beautiful rugs! But Afghan rugs are termed as Persian rugs, pakistan don’t make rugs they don’t know how to it’s not their culture but Afghans that migrated there make them. Pakistan cannot make rugs on their own
