As always, you are the queen of coping with adversity! For your river crossing technique, you do the no shoes no pants technique. What works for me is to leave my shoes and pants on, have them get wet and then dry off as you continue hiking. This obviously depends on the temperature, but I find that the heat your legs and feet generate dries them out fairly quickly. I use a non-Gortex mesh shoe and Prana Zion pants, which dry in a jiffy. I am also addicted to wearing approach shoes with a Vibram sole, which are unbelievably grippy on rocks and slabs even if there's water running under the sole. [Mine are LaSportiva TX3 which have been replaced by newer models.] They may not be the right shoe for a 3-month through hike, but for 2-3 days backpacking I love being as sure-footed as possible. Fingers crossed, you need to catch a break for both health and logistics! Cheers and happy trails!
Thanks for the gear tips!! I haven’t tried those brands but I might need to check them out when the time comes to replace some gear. Yeah it was pretty cold and it was already getting late in the day so I wasn’t sure if everything would dry out before my 4:30am hike. I think if it hadn’t been for that I might have been more willing to let my shoes and pants get wet. Thanks for always watching and for taking the time to comment so thoughtfully 😁🙏
I love so many things about this video!!! 1. When it rains, it really pours. Thanks for showing it and not hiding behind fake glam cru d. Those insta pages drive me insane. 2. Your mom is not going to enjoy watching you cross that river 😅 (side note: I would have eaten 💩 if I was with you at that point 😂) 3. When you showed the dirt that blew into the tent I laughed ridiculously hard 4. Whatever those bugs were right after that were so cool! 5. Loved all the birds and beautiful shots in this video. Balanced out the rough stuff well (as did your positive attitude) 😊
1. POURS. 😂 and yeah those pages drive me nuts too. I absolutely love being able to share my content on Instagram and RUclips but I definitely don’t do it for the gram 😅 2. Yeah I can hear her now 😂 3. I’m glad you got a laugh out if it ha. I ate a bunch of dirt that day 4. I thought so too!! I saw them a few times and I just sat there and watched them for so long! 5. I knew you’d like the birds 😊
I am not too sure if I have put this in a message before, but I will say it again. I take my hat off to you, for doing these hikes, and videoing them too. Thanks very much. Very interesting indeed. Kathryn. Keep the videos coming. I do enjoy your hiking around! 🙂🙂🙂
I will certainly watch your videos. When you put out the video. I look forward to next video very much! :-) I will give you 5 or 10 stars for your efforts. And to me it's a very effort when the weather doesn't cooperate!! :-( .... :-) :-)
Thanks, David! 😁 I definitely prefer to keep it real, it just gets hard trying to grow my channel without these crazy spectacles or weird click bait 😂 But oh well, I’d definitely prefer to show what backpacking is actually like. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment 😁🙏

There’s a bridge to cross that river. I crossed it 5 days ago.
Is it new? When I was there the lady told me that the bridge had been washed out. I’m assuming they’ve replaced it?
I hope you had a good time! 😁
@@KathrynJones now that I think about it, It looked like it was built recently
@@jens6613 well I’m glad there was a new bridge for you so you could continue on! I’m sure it was beautiful 😁
