    Thank you for this video. It wasn't just useful, but also very beautiful. Late November I'm doing the 4 Refugios (hopefully the 4).

    My friend Tim and I coincided with you on that journey. Despite your heavy backpack, you made a huge difference from us. We thought you were an alien but luckily we watched this video and found out that you are human, you even get tired like everyone else... (I'm the old man with the ridiculous hat). Congratulations, I really enjoy your videos.

      It is absolutely wild that you came across my video! I of course remember you guys! There's a brief moment half way through day 2 where I think you are in the video, and your friend Tim I think is in the background on the morning of the briefing.
      😂 It made me laugh that you guys thought I was an alien 😆 That isn't the first time I've heard that. My partner always tells me that I'm a robot but he has occasionally said alien as well 😅 But yes I absolutely get tired too hahaha especially on this trek! It was tough!!
      And thank you so much! I really appreciate you taking the time to watch my videos. I'm so glad to hear that you enjoy them

      Los refugios eran tan increíbles. Estoy agradecido de que estuvieran allí. Especialmente en la noche final cuando terminé ese día difícil. 😅😤

    Your best video & story telling ever!

      Thank you! 😊 I really enjoyed compiling this video. Ever since I switched my format over to longer videos that show a trail from start to finish I've really enjoyed the end result. It forces me to cut more content that doesn't necessarily drive the story line. Although the one downside is that it takes so so much longer to edit them and I'm still trying to get videos out every other week 😂

    Fantastic tree colours. Where you are climbing up and showing the area around. Looks pretty dangerous for hiking. I am not too sure if I have said this before, I say it again, I take my hat off to you! Very brave! Take extra care, slow down. I would miss these videos. Kathryn. ❤❤

      The tree colors were incredible! Being there in the middle of the autumn was amazing. Yeah it was definitely a dangerous trek, I wouldn't even call it hiking.
      Also thank you 😁 it's definitely not easy capturing the moments along the way when the treks are this difficult, so it's always nice to feel the appreciation from my viewers. It helps keep me going 😂 so thank you for taking the time to comment and of course thank you for always watching 😊

      Thank you so much! I always love being able to go back and rewatch 😁videos because of the amazing memories they bring up. Small little details I had forgotten about bring so much joy. I'm glad to hear that it did the same for you. Laguna Negra is such an incredible place with inexplicable views and beauty. I imagine swimming there would be a lifelong memory 😁

      Isn't it amazing?! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I also wish I had slightly better weather. I could tell how spectacular some of the views would have been if I could have seen anything. But I am grateful that my weather was good on the most difficult and dangerous day. Overall I loved my experience and am so grateful that it went well. Doing it alone was definitely tough, but my goodness what an incredible experience and wonderful memories 😁

    I am planning on doing this very same trip and your video is definitely the best on youtube. So nice of them to make the briefing.
    What time of the year was this? Looks cold
    where did you start walking towards Frey? I see that taking a bus to Cerro Catedral and starting there is an option
    when you say you didn't complete the whole route you mean you didn't go from laguna negra back to lopez, or is it something else?
    will I get the chance to use my lifestraw and avoid carrying water?
    Thanks for this amazing video

    • @KathrynJones
      @KathrynJones  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! I'm really glad to hear that you found my video helpful. I did this hike at the beginning of April, so the beginning of their Autumn. The briefing is definitely beneficial and I'm extremely grateful that they provided that. Make sure you wake up in time for it, it gave me far more confidence going into that day.
      If you look on AllTrails I followed the 4 Refugios Trek and used the starting point listed there. It is right off of the parking lot for the ski resort.
      Yes that is what I mean by not being able to complete it. I wish the weather had been better so I could complete it, but hopefully I'll be back some day and I'll be able to complete the trek.
      As for water, there is water at every campsite and several streams and river crossings that make it possible to use your straw, however there are also stretches of the trail where you won't pass water and you will need to carry water during that time. For example, on day three the lake/refugio is the only water source until you reach the valley again. This means that you need to carry all of your water for the first 3/4 of the day.
      I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions. Enjoy the hike and be safe! It's beautiful.

      @ I’m so glad you were able to complete the trek! I hope you had lovely weather and I hope the fall colors had started to change for you. That was one of the most beautiful parts.
      If you hear of anyone else considering the trail please share my video with them! 🙏

    I am a peanut butter fan too. Since I was born, but I don't eat it every day! Though

    • @KathrynJones
      @KathrynJones  Год назад

      Oh I definitely don't eat it every day when I'm off trail 😂 But when I'm on a trek like this I absolutely CRAVE it! The extra fat and protein are exactly when I need midway through the day. And in the morning. And sometimes a spoonful before bed 😂😂

    Loved the video! Planning on doing the trip next summer! Even if we stay in tents it is mandatory to book the refuge? Or only if we stay in the beds inside? Thank you very much, trying to find the info online but a bit hard not gonna lie

    • @KathrynJones
      @KathrynJones  Месяц назад +1

      Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
      Yes you do still need to book the refugio because they have a limited number of designated camping spaces. But luckily they are significantly cheaper than staying inside the refugio or in some cases free. They still just need to have you book a space even if it’s free though so that they can reserve the space.
      I remember some of them being tricky to find online, but they are there if you keep digging. I’m sorry I don’t remember all of the websites. If I come across them I’ll reply to this message again and let you know.
      Good luck! If you have any questions about the trail please feel free to reach out.

      Also I should mention that most of them you pay in cash when you arrive even if you book it online a head of time. I don’t think that’s the case for all of them but make sure you’re prepared.
