I remember watching John's vids when I was around 12. I'm 23 now, recently returning to chess, and I'm so glad John is still making videos. On of the best chess teachers for sure.

My friend recommended to me your chess fundamentals videos after he kept beating me in games, and I've been a fan since. Lots of chess youtubers are fun to watch playing, but go over my head when they're calculating moves. I like how you make it educational and clear to understand. Glad your uploading again!

it always frustrates me when my opponent advances the e pawn (e5) but J here gave a master class on how to handle that..and when he said at the end (2:17 “i’m happy to play this position “ that sort of confirmation really cement the confidence! gonna definitively watch this instructive game multiple time…Thank you so much John 🙏

Its kinda funny at this point that I have watched many strong players like John play weaker players like these but the players never push pawn forward.
I am early 1000's and you can bet my opponent would have played e5 and I would have been stumped what to do next

This is a really cool game. I could imagine it reproduced in The Art of Attacking Chess in the chapter how to attack the uncastled king. Opponent really needed to castle when they had the chance instead of Bd2

Thanks John for yet another great video! I appreciate these longer standard games. I was a little skeptical at first because I liked your original climbing the rating ladder series in the 5 min format. But after playing a ton of blitz games and only going down in the ratings, I took your advice and started playing longer games and I've been slowly improving. I also realized I learn a lot more from your longer games because you have time to really talk through the position and talk about all the potential options. Awesome stuff - looking forward to your next one!

…Qa6 seemed so innocent to me at first. My brain was like “ahhhh white will block, then regain castling rights”. Then it didn’t, and the bishop came to help, all over.
My main lesson learned: if you can stop the king castling, bust the centre.

Hey John! I had a question for you about this game. At 15:03 when you move your bishop to h6, why isn't it viable for white to take your bishop with the queen that sits on d2 (rather than moving it off the diagonal)?

Haha it's funny that you called out Ben Feingold because whenever you make an F pawn move I find myself thinking of his hatred of the F pawn, I find myself underutilizing it in my own games for this reason. I used to watch Ben's videos, but I became irritated at his political jabs. Thank you for keeping your videos good-natured and free of politics! Im sure to stay around as a subscriber!

Quick, half thunk out moves are disrespectful to the game in general, and to you. If they loose, who cares. If they win, that'll show everyone that they don't need to study. Ignore common guidelines, rules and doubt the value of knowledge. It is an unfortunate waste of potential to only skate half-assed across life thinking you know it all. Being precise and questioning is lost in today's society. What's valued is having your own beliefs, especially those made-up.
