I had my own backstories for the Hitchhiking Ghosts.
Phineas was a aristocratic gentleman on his way to a party, till he encountered and was murdered by a thief. Ezra an annoying fellow. So much so, that people wanted him dead. One day while on his way to visit his mother, he was kidnapped and buried alive. Gus was convicted of a crime he didn't commit, before he was jailed, he tried to run away, but he accidentally drowned after his chain and ball fell into a nearby lake.

@@storiesfromthemansion4387 thank you ☺️, ps. You can notice that my stories for the Hitchhiking Ghosts have one thing in common? They were going somewhere, but were killed before they could reach that location. Hence as Ghosts, they're all trying to hitch a ride

I haven't had a photo with the Hitchhiking Ghosts in person at the moment, but I'm sure that they'll go nuts over my travel playlists that I made on both iTunes and Spotify. They were human at one point before they died in the comics which talked about them being bad guys. Who knows? Rumor has it that they're possibly the human versions of the Quicksand Men whose portrait stretches in the Stretching Room scene of The Haunted Mansion (scary dark ride located at Disneyland, Walt Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland). They don't have official names yet, but in the ghost form the trio's names are 1. Ezra, 2. Phineas and 3. Gus.

Here are my own backstories for the famous ghostly trio of transients:
For Phineas, he was a traveling salesman, optimistic but desperate to make a sale. However, he always had a hard time getting his foot in the door. Still, he vowed he'd make a sale, even if it killed him. Then, one day, he actually succeeded, sold his wares, and left the house with a smile on his face...sadly, his soul left his body on the way out as he died from exhaustion.
Ezra was a vaudeville comedian who knew how to crack up an audience...until the silver screen took his place on the theater stage. Undeterred, he tried his luck in motion pictures, only to be rejected every time. Disgruntled at the very thing that ruined his livelihood, he was often kicked out of theaters for heckling the silver screen. Then, one night, drunk and disoriented, he stood out in the middle of the road and jerked out a thumb...unaware that he was standing on a railroad.
Gus was a cardshark and gambler who bet, won, and lost small fortunes at the tables (usually though copious amounts of cheating). Then, during a round of blackjack, he heard someone mention there was more money to be made in betting on horse races. Impossible to rig a horse race, you'd think...Gus tried anyway. However, while trying to remove the horseshoes from all but the best horse (he didn't get further than one), he was caught and put on trial. The judge, someone who enjoyed such races, sentenced him to time in the state penitentiary. But either someone didn't hear the judge's sentence right or because of negligence or abuse, Gus ended up spending 40 years in what was supposed to be a 4 year sentence. Nearly driven mad by his time in the clink, he tunneled his way to freedom with as many spoons and forks as he could sneak into his cell. When he finally got out, he stuck out a thumb and got a ride. As he babbled about why he was locked up, he failed to realize that the car's owners happened to be victims of his cheating ways. They knocked him out and dumped him into a river, his ball-and-chain dragging him down to his doom.

Guess what. So I thought of something. I'm planning to implement bits of the Ghost gallery's version of Gus's backstory for that of the Ghost Host for my POST-MORTEM AU. So what I'm thinking, is that The Ghost Host was once a resident of Gracey Manor in his childhood to his adulthood. As a child, he killed a most if not all of his Pets (which also explains the pet cemetery from Hudson river valley Haunted Mansion, since most of they're date of deaths took place in the 1820s and beyond.), In his adulthood, he murdered many women in his lifetime in very horrible ways, and locked them in the many doors within the corridor of doors(which would also explain the banging doors in the ride's corridor of doors.) And was eventually institutionalized at the New Salem Asylum (especially since POST-MORTEM takes place in Willows peak, a fictional town I made near Salem Massachusetts.). When he escaped, he came back to the Mansion, but hid in the basement, as revenge for being imprisoned by his family, he decided to kill his Siblings by poisoning they're tea with rat poison. Unfortunately, his niece and nephew, whom he had a soft spot for, drank the tea in a play tea party and both died from the poison. He was soon caught by his Brother and Sisters whom he murdered them through a hatchet. But after he did so, racked with grief for the death of his niece and nephew. Walked up through a stairway, and hung himself, the thing is, the rope he used wasn't strong enough, and snapped off as he fell. Instead, he died from high impact.
