guitarist sits out the verse? in an essentially three-piece band? lazy. No background vocals? lazy. I like this band but really. It's as if he's thinking well in our weekly vids this would be an overdubbed part so I guess I just won't do anything. Stomp a pedal and play some backing on that verse!

I disagree. A sign of an amateur band is everyone feeling they have to play ALL THE TIME. Dynamics really make a song sound professional.
Another sign of an amateur band, is an arrangement so thin you can poke a hole thru it with your finger... Bass should have played the song as it was intended. The bass riff in the original is thiiiiiick...
Just seen the studio take..Bass line MUCH better...
