Their biggest songs in terms of hits were in the 80s, but their most interesting stuff was in the less radio friendly 70's material. The Musical Box, Dancing With The Moonlight Knight, Carpet Crawlers (off of LLDOB), Squonk (after Peter left), or Duchess with the next track Guide Vocal played together. The last one was off of the 1980 album Duke as part of what is called the Duke Suite. Duke is arguably the last prog album as they transitioned into the pop genre.

Since Dave likes cartoons, take him to the land of confusion and let him meet Ronny.

Spectacular album. And his name has to be "Rael" to set up the pun in the last lyric of "it" at the end of the album.
I feel like the album is worth a listen as a whole (not on the channel, it's so long, 4 sides). Rael's journey (through purgatory?) is a real adventure. The imagery of songs like "The Lamia" and "Anyway," or "Carpet Crawlers," the energy of "In the Cage," "Slippermen," and all the post-slippermen tunes "The Light Dies Down on Broadway," "Riding the Scree," etc.show what Genesis could do when they fired on all cylinders.
AND YET I don't even think this is their best Gabriel-era album. That would be _Selling England By the Pound_ and I'd say that would be the next place to go. I'd recommend either "Battle of Epping Forest" or "Fifth of Firth" as standout songs with some fun lyrical content, but if those are too long, "Dancing with the Moonlit Knight" and "I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)" are also great tunes.

We don't shy from long tunes... fact is, this was earlier in our Reactioneering but has been blocked repeatedly. So, we have done more Genesis since this recording including one of my favorites, Fifth of Firth! Good call, now go check 'em out! - JD

Genesis is my favorite band EVER!!! Then YES. Both these bands I will enjoy for the rest of my life. I don't get youtube and all their fair use. Some can and some can't. It's mind boggling. 🤔💙🎵🎶🎶

The Lamb is maybe the best album ever. That or The Wall

I couldn't put it best ever. It gets a bit sloggish in the back half. Definitely my favorite rock opera, above The Wall or Tommy.

You really need the rest of side 1 for context. Lamb is one of my top all time albums, but I rarely listen to Side 3/4. After the title track you HAVE to listen to Fly and Broadway Melody...
Peter was suffering creatively, mentally and emotionally during this period. This is HIS story and statement.
