I love the smell of a VW in the morning . That's a great find and a good video , there still seems to be a few of these early buses out there but they're all in incredibly odd places . Makes you wonder how they got there .
There could have been two possible situations, the van was either left there after breaking down or it was stripped of valuable parts. I'll say that it was stripped and dumped since the wheels, engine and transmission along with a ton of other parts are missing.

Who says Germans don't have a sense of humour? I don't know how they managed to get a hold of a chopper to lift it out, but a typically German approach lol. Obviously you've got a long road ahead of you with this restoration and good luck to you. There should be more like you, taking the time to restore classics of the past

Amazing! Can an old, battered and rusted-out Volkswagen barn-door van ever be worth enough to justify helicopter extraction? I guess the only explanation is, that this is a matter of passion. Costs be damned, these enthusiasts are going to rescue and restore this decrepit vehicle!

Toller Fund, nettes Video, aber ich bezweifel ganz ganz stark das sich dieser Wagen noch restaurieren lässt. Aber selbst wenn dem so sein sollte, kann an dem Wagen dann absolut NICHTS mehr original sein. Jedes Blech, jeder Träger, jedes Mechanische Teil muss getauscht werden, neu gebaut werden. Selbst wenn also die "Restauration" klappen würde, wäre der Wagen nicht halb so viel Wert wie ein Original. Hätte es nicht mehr Sinn gemacht, sich die Konstruktionszeichnung zu besorgen und das Auto einfach nach zu bauen!? Solltet Ihr das Ding aber tatsächlich restaurieren und Fahrbereit bekommen, freue ich mich auf das Video dazu. Gruß :)

funny how mutch work some people was doing in the old days to get rid of their cars.they probably pulled it up there with a tractor or someting before the trees was there.i knew of a simular example of a woodwreck. it was a 1957 vauxhall victor.

Das Video ist schon irgendwie beeindruckend. Aber mal ganz ehrlich, steht der Aufwand wirklich in einer Relation zu der "toten Leiche"? Ich denk, der Hubschrauber wird ja auch nicht gratis geflogen sein. Vielleicht täusche ich mich ja auch, aber da hätt es sicher billigere Alternativen gegeben.

Ein Früher VW Bus von 1954 rechtfertigt diese Bergung weil auch als Wrack noch sehr wertvoll
