This was my ex’s favorite song. She played it back and forth that Spring and Summer of 78. Hard to believe 45+ years have passed…Met Andy many times over the years. Nice young man. Never suspected the demons. He did 2 weeks at the Venetian Room in 85 and we saw him 2 nights. Even spent time with him and Barbara and Hugh after the show. He is much missed.

I used to hate this music growing up, thinking it was so devoid of substance (I was of the classic rock genre). Now in the modern art desert across all media I find myself searching out these old gems that were actually lovely pieces. Gorgeous song, as were many of his, and of that era.
So true. The 1970s produced so many classic genres. From disco to pop, rock to Motown. The decade used the acoustic, the moog and the electric all with classic big band instruments. It was a magical decade. Unmatched, really.

Reminds me of sitting in the Kona airport in 1978! This song is was playing on the airport radio sound system.
To go back to those 70's...those were the days, dances at the high school gyms, bell bottom pants, plat form shoes, skating rinks, no cell phones, internet...8 track tapes blasting the 6X9 speakers...fond memories.
We had our dances in the high school cafeteria. Fun times and great memories!

A smaller version of Barry; the eldest Gibb adored his baby brother, made sure he got to the top, writing, singing, and producing songs with Andy.
The brothers Gibb figured Andy would out grow the drugs; as they were all successful at burying their demons.
So sad this wasn't the case.
Terribly tragic to lose life at only 30 years of age.

Maurice died due to a twisted intestine, Robin of cancer. They were long recovered from drugs before their untimely deaths.

It's said that because Barry Gibb had written and produced so much of Andy's hits and initial success, that Andy felt like his contribution to those hits was minimal and he felt like a bit like fraud. Insecurities or something. If that were true, I wish he could've seen and heard what we all do in these performances.
He just had "It" as they say. You put all four of the brothers on stage (they did a few performances together) and it's Andy everyone's watching perform. Not to diminish the BeeGees at all btw cuz well, for one, that's not even possible. 😁
Andy was so clearly a talented performer and certainly a decent enough musician to deserve the fame and success he had. To not look back on the success he DID have and not be happy with it / appreciate it as something special and well deserved is a sad thing to know he experienced.

In 2007 I was working at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles, CA. The mausoleum where Andy is interred was beginning to show wear and needed some reinforcement and as a result some of the caskets needed to be pulled out so repairs could be done. Andy being so famous, the foreman decided to open the casket and take a look. It was haunting. He looked like he was sleeping. Aside from some light molding on his face and fading of the color of his suit, you could be forgiven for thinking he was merely taking a nap. His hair was pristine and looked immaculate, and he still had some color to his face, though we assumed that was likely makeup. We paid our respects and then put him back in his resting place.

To my surprise & happiness I found the song Shadow Dancing on one and on another had I Just Want To Be Your Everything.
