Brendan Fraser's Oscar acceptance speech was the first time I've cried in my life watching something on television. The joy and gratitude in his voice and on his face was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Heart wrenching, but beautiful.
As many times as I’ve seen this movie, until this reaction, I never noticed that when Eve is narrating at the end and we see her in the glass, she’s twirling an engagement ring on her finger. Probably because she doesn’t look down at it but is looking out at her soon to be father-in-law. It gave me a totally new feeling for the end of the film. Not “different”, just a more “happy ending” feeling than I had before. 😁
Way back, Dr Pepper used to market itself as being a good hot drink as well. It had died down by the, but it's a good indicator how old fashioned he is even in the 60s.

This film has so many fun little moments like the little girl saying she see's it when he's talking about the sky and all the adults are trying to figure out what he see's. I was 12 and living in Queens outside New York City at the time of the Cuban missile crisis. I do remember how scary it was and how through my childhood, the concept of an atomic war was deemed pretty inevitable, even if we didn't know when. Different newspaper and magazine articles would publish maps of the city with circles centered around ground zero presumably in Manhattan, as to how much damage would be done for a certain sized bomb (as they grew in size). The smallest circle indicated instant vaporization, working outward to say we might have a few weeks before succumbing to radiation sickness. All science fictions stories at the time set in the future, it seemed, had an atomic war in its presumed sequence of events, which only continued to raise the level of fear. Most depictions focused on the blast damage, with the radiation threat over in a mere few weeks. We never even considered a nuclear winter possibility, so the idea was if you could hide out for a short time, you might survive but then face a hellish post-nuclear nightmare. Very scary times.

The song Adam sings to Eve, that he states is a song “Mr. Cuomo” sings, actually isn’t a Perry Cuomo original song at all. The lyrics were written by songwriter A.J. Lerner and originally performed in the Broadway musical “My Fair Lady”, starring the incredible Julie Andrew’s in the starring role of Eliza Doolittle. Then for the film adaptation, the legendary goddess herself, the angelic Audrey Hepburn stepped in. It’s a pretty famous musical from both Broadway and film, and it’s still being performed today on stages across the world including in the West End in 2022. It was one of Julie and Audrey’s favorite and most beloved roles, and it’s been renowned as one of the greatest musicals of all time; and it’s been beloved by audiences for 60+ years now. It won the Tony award for best musical in 1957. Then with the film, Audrey did all her own singing in it, won the Oscar for her performance, and the film won best picture for 1964. I just think it’s sweet that Adam doesn’t know any of that and just thinks it’s a Perry Cuomo song, because all he knows is what his parents have taught and showed him; and of course, he trusts them completely…even if he doesn’t know what he’s trusting them about. 😂
Came across your channel due to this film. Very much enjoyed your commentary & Roxy, your genuinely sweet nature, wrapped around your good heart…the way you posed the allegorical parallels with a Biblical lean….I’m subscribing. The film is about character, developed with morality & virtues….you either have it or not.
Brendan Fraser has a uniquely sincere quality. His emotions and tone and care for everyone around him makes the character come across so authentically. And I think that quality rubbed off on Alicia Silverstone and Dave Foley. They can project that on their own, I'm sure, but when the star of a film can bring that degree of it into the film, everyone in the film feeds off of it. What a great film.
When I watched this before, I thought that the ending with the dad pacing in the backyard, is him trying to work out the dimensions of his little Astroturf yard down in the shelter.
Great movie, great cast. And a fantastic soundtrack. Hot Dr. Pepper though 😅😅 A good next watch would be "Bedazzled". Both Liz Hurley and Brendan in their prime...
This movie is one of my favorites from childhood, me and my mom would watch it every time it came on tv and i cherish the memories. Im always glad when more people watch it.

"They didn't want to pay that guy to speak" That guy is one of the two straight-laced recruits in "Police Academy" that ends up in the "Blue Oyster Bar"
2:54 ok I've known how to do this since I was 9 it was one of the most confusing things my little brain has worked out so I'll give a quick and easy "How To". There are 3 parts: Snap your fingers on the top hand, then snap them on the bottom hand, then Clap (paper covers rock style). If you know how to pat your head and rub your belly at the same time this should only take a few hours to get good at just count it out 1,2,3. 1,2,3. 1,2,3. 6:10 Fun Fact: Dr. Pepper was made to be drank warm/hot IDK if you can still do that or if they've replaced so many ingredients it's no longer the case but that's the Dr. Pepper Gimmick, Coca Cola originally had cocaine, Pepsi was a Pepcid ("relieve indigestion" ) and Dr. Pepper unlocks more flavors when heated up.
Yes! Thank you! I love this movie! ❤ Brendan Fraser was such a perfect Adam. But you know, in reality, he wouldn't make it in the real world. His immunity is weak, he'd be exposed to some disease and die within a few weeks. 🥺
My favorite Brendan Fraser film! Actually, my favorite Alicia Silverstone film, too. Much of the plot direction is predictable, but all the actors went above and beyond expectations selling it. I love Troy's delivery of what Adam says Manners are, and the definition of a Lady and a Gentleman. At the 40's Club they were dancing to MR. ZOOT SUIT by The Flying Neutrinos. Now maybe watch ENCINO MAN (1992) for Brendan's feature film debut.
I love this movie. It's perhaps the most wholesome movie I have ever seen, and yet it's not preachy and is very funny. So well written, so well acted. Brendan Fraser does such a great job of portraying a true innocent experiencing so many things for the first time. I tend to think of it as the inverse of another favorite of mine, Pleasantville. Instead of being a modern person thrust into a world of innocence and ignorance, it's a true innocent thrust into the modern world. The best thing about this for me is that, despite everything new that he encounters, Adam never loses his positive outlook.
Hey @RoxyStriar! I want to thank you for the reaction, it was great! I wish so many good things for you. I wish so hard that all of your dreams come true. That's all. 😁 Have a great day!! Oh, and HEY ANDREW! 😁

Thanks for the love
So excited to see Andrew and Roxy react to this movie! This movie is good and underrated! 👍
Dave foley was in a series called News Radio. Phil Hartman was also in this series. Another one of the cast was Joe Rogan.
“Eve the psychic pimp” 🤣
The superhero movie you were thinking of with Kurt Russell and Kelly Preston is Skyhigh.
This movie! I grew up watching Brandon Frasier and it gave me crazy high expectations.
Keep them. It's worth it in the long run.
“He drank it hot? Good God…” 😂
I love this movie lol. It gets funnier every time you watch it. So excited to watch this!
I loved this movie when I was a teenager, love that you’re reacting to it!
I have watched this film 100 million times and I've NEVER noticed the engagement ring at the end 🤯
Great movie, great cast. And a fantastic soundtrack. Hot Dr. Pepper though 😅😅
A good next watch would be "Bedazzled". Both Liz Hurley and Brendan in their prime...
This movie is one of my favorites from childhood, me and my mom would watch it every time it came on tv and i cherish the memories. Im always glad when more people watch it.
Grinning throughout a film makes a film my favorite film. 😅
Another late 90s film that celebrates the valley
Topanga Blvd and Sherman away
This movie used to play all the time on The Movie Channel in the early 2000s
Haha exactly where it is!!
@@andrewgordon7662 I’m a valley kid 😎
Adam could have told Eve he had come from the past in a Deloran time machine with a flux capacitor - perhaps made more sense to her.
Hi guys! Would love to see you cover some classic rom-coms on the channel, such as While You Were Sleeping, You've Got Mail, Never Been Kissed, 13 Going On 30 and Just Like Heaven. Ta. 🧡
When harry met sally!
Sleepless in Seattle
Get the name right DlCkf@ce
Brewster's Millions.
How about 'French Kiss'?
I love this movie and I watch everybody who reacts to it. I can't believe I missed this for the past few days. Thanks for sharing
"They didn't want to pay that guy to speak"
That guy is one of the two straight-laced recruits in "Police Academy" that ends up in the "Blue Oyster Bar"
This is such a slept on movie.
One of my favorites
Great reaction! So glad you guys loved the movie. It truly is one of my favorites ❤️
The Americans is one of the most unknown and underrated shows of all time. Andrew should definitely check it out.
Whyyyyyy..... is Roxy always so adorkable?
Tehe
YAYYYYYYYY!!!!!! I asked and y'all provided. Thank you so so much.
Roxy, i really loved your commentary and I think youre spot on about everything! its such a sweet rom com and the religious allegory..... (Adam & Eve. lol) was presented in the nicest, lightest and enjoyable way. I watched this at a drive in in Connecticut when it was released. I cant even remember what the feature film was! Brendan is so sweet and so cute in this movie. I loved both of your reactions!!
⏯️24:45 still expecting a dark side 😂 this is one of my favorite movies and my favorite reaction to date 🧡
Hahaha okay maybe I have trust issues lmao
