i'm donating my masterpieces 😁i've learned a little sewing in Katteika class junior high last year my Grandma is still having migraines teaching me how to properly sew .i put sanitized gauze cloth inside the mask for disposal. only one use or handwash it with soap and water and iron it on high,same thing to do with the face mask itself .my production pace is two pieces a day .i have to play racing with my little brother in our backyard and i prefer experimenting in the kitchen to sewing

This woman is taking advantage of the coronavirus situation for money. As a nursing student I can say no proper nurse would promote the use of non medical masks to the public. It’s like using mittens instead of latex gloves. This will just give the buyers a false reassurance of protection to go out.
Her masks look like they are higher quality than someone of the budget masks my hospital has. Just saying...
while I don't agree that she's selling them for profit, I also don't think it's completely useless considering the lack of PPEs. something is better than nothing, but I would just donate them. tbf we're all unsure of what the future holds. maybe she needs the money for her family. I don't know, and I can't judge her. that's reality right now. 🤷🏻♀️

Alexander Perez Yes I can know intentions because I know she is educated better to know these unsafe masks will just make the buyers feel invulnerable to the virus. If they were safe you would see all nurses and doctors promote buying homemade masks. You know what you are seeing? Nurses making videos on how unsafe improper glove usage can be. She didn’t even put a disclaimer for the buyers who don’t know that n95 masks are the only true masks that can protect you from the covid19 virus. I see a lot of the public walk around shopping with masks coughing around people thinking a non95 mask will do the job. So yeah don’t tell me if I’m not causing any good change for the world, to not critique her 😊. I can assure you helping save lives and informing the public about the dangers of non fda approved sanitizer being sold on the market is doing good change.

Jennifer Bates Using your scarf at home gives you as much protection as this mask does. Aka barely to no protection to covid19 respiratory droplets. Don’t waste your money on these.

Throwing Down The Mask. It’s called the Olsen Mask. A hospital designed it they have the templates and show how to make it on their RUclips vid.
If you want to make fitted masks look up Jesse mask pattern. The ladies at the Fabric Patch have a youtube tutorial on this pattern too.

Keep in mind that the primary purpose of these masks is to protect others from you rather than protecting yourself from others.... And yes literally every other person is also making masks.
Actually, the people you are protecting have masks on already. Masks work so well, then why would I wear one?
@@alwaysthebadguy_2020 Huh? Everyone should wear masks in order to limit the spread the virus, period. You wear a mask because you may be inadvertently spreading it to others. You wear a masks so that we get control over this virus and start getting back to our lives.
You can't put out a fire by putting out some of the fire and just hope the rest of it will die off on it's own. You have to extinguish the fire everywhere and cut off anywhere it can spread.
It's really not too much to ask to wear a piece of cloth on your face in order to keep tens of thousands of your fellow Americans alive.
As a nurse she should know better than to just sell the masks. You need to spray disinfectant on the outside and let it dry. Once it dry, ONLY then should you wear it outside. She fails as a nurse

Why don't sewing machine company's give her and people machines and the cad file or template to help make masks ? I don't get our country right now ... ? Everything is profit and less about humanity.
@corrie MF’n Chainsaw Nothing is 100%, but you can still help reduce the transmission significantly by wearing a mask. n95 / pm2.5 / cloth Is better than nothing - let's have some common sense about this.
Same can be said of all these people who buy up ALL the fabric and/or ALL of the elastic so they can sell it meanwhile someone just wants enough for their family without paying a premium price for it..

@corrie MF’n Chainsaw I'm talking about unprotected Healthcare workers, you seen in the video how many hospitals don't have any ppe. If I had the virus and an RN had no face mask because she didn't have anything to wear i wouldn't want her seeing me without something on her face. Like I said the % goes down from n95's to other types of protection.
errm masks should use water resistant or waterproof material - that your respiratory droplets does not escape and infect others and protect yourselves from others. How is cotton going to do that?
The masks have to allow you to breath and I think the idea behind cotton is that it has a fairly tight weave while a poly-cotton blend is more water resistant so maybe a mask having one layer of 100% cotton for the tight weave and the 2nd layer being the poly-cotton blend for water resistance.
Maybe spraying the outside layer with a scotchguard type spray for waterproofing....though I don't know if breathing that chemical would be ok.

I never knew how to use a sewing machine until this happens and now I make masks everyday, I make them for my family and going to start making them for whoever I can. We all need them now so should do my part as a human being!!
I am a nurse and my co worker was making this. She only sells it for $3 each for regular size and $2 for kids. It's just her way of helping out in this time of difficulties. I pitch in to help out. Lots of orders. I hope people wont take advantage of her, buying it for cheap prize and reselling 200% more.

Good business idea. Here in indonesia some of our people change their old job temporarily into making and selling fabric masks. Some of them also made ones and donated them to poor people. Batik masks are one of our design.
😂 cloth masks don't block anything from coming in even if you taped the edges to your face. 😂🤦 It only stops the large droplets you cough out.

You can use household items laying around in your home to make your own mask. Ppl need their money to buy food and medicine. Not splurge on a cloth mask that doesn't prevent getting infected. Waste of money.

Yes, I am trying to sell masks just like these locally on facebook and my posts get flagged within minutes and removed. Sellers have resorted to using code words to avoid using the word mask.
What kind of filter can you put between the fabric layers though? Cotton may help a bit, especially with the face touching, but overall not that much...

Im not sure what extra filter media you could add to this mask? Material needs to filter down to a certain micron to be effective against viruses?
Viruses come with respiratory droplets and those droplets are many times bigger than the virus itself. So this cloth mask actually might work by trapping those big droplets. It may be not as good as real medical mask but it's still better than nothing.
