So the cry in the song, it's called keening and wailing, or a death wail and the sound happens when someone loses another. (It's just an imitation and done to beat, cause you can't replicate it properly) Which is the reason for some people find it hard to listen too. You don't forget that sound once you've heard it even from yourself. But its also used in rituals practice in other cultures and was a forgotten art of the Celts to help deal with the loss of loved ones usually practiced by women on the outer fringes of society.
This song will forever make me feel emotional. Something about her voice just floods my mind with nostalgia, i didn’t know she had passed away in 2018, what a tragedy may she rest in peace. This song will cut a bit deeper from now on… 🖤
On a day another band was going to do a cover of this song. She was supposed to meet with them that day she died. The band did the cover and paid tribute to her in the song with a twist. You should check it out. Bad wolves - zombie.

TG Lurgan is an Irish-immersive summer program for teenagers in Ireland in order to help "reclaim" their native language from near-extinction. As part of the offerings, they make music videos of popular songs translated into Irish, which they sing and record. Last summer they did Zombies in Irish and superimposed it with footage from Ukraine. It was SO moving! I highly recommend looking it up on RUclips!
I grew up with that stuff. 😂 Nice to see someone else get into it. Funny that from different parts of the world we get exposed to different music. Thank you!
It’s even more moving if you know what it’s about - a bombing in Warrington UK where a 3 year old and a 12 year old were killed. I’d recommend listening to Closer by NIN next. Might set off a few content filters on TikTok though
My maternal grandparents' families left Northern Ireland around 1929 because of violence all around them. They never returned. My grandmother said everything and everybody they had in NI was dead and nothing for her there except painful memories. Must've been rough because she was the happiest person ever.
@@Vikkigamesbadly my grandparents, both, would never talk about it, however, my grandmother's sister, Aunt Marie who was 10 years older than grandmother, talked about how frightened she was too go to school after the 1921 civil war there. They lived near Londonberty. I'm guessing they were glad they left before the 'troubles'.
The Easter Rising (Irish: Éirí Amach na Cásca),[1] also known as the Easter Rebellion, was an armed insurrection in Ireland during Easter Week in April 1916. The Rising was launched by Irish republicans against British rule in Ireland with the aim of establishing an independent Irish Republic while the United Kingdom was fighting the First World War. It was the most significant uprising in Ireland since the rebellion of 1798 and the first armed conflict of the Irish revolutionary period. Sixteen of the Rising's leaders were executed from May 1916. The nature of the executions, and subsequent political developments, ultimately contributed to an increase in popular support for Irish independence.
Gotta listen to the bad wolves cover of this..they had plans to have the lead singer be on the vocals for it and she sadly passed away the day before recording..the poured the soul into it 🤘🏻
This song is nostalgia for me, the entire world was an 800w JVC stereo, a single-wide trailer, early 2000s FM radio, a CD-Tower. This song is one of the clearest, earliest memories I have.

For some time I had this as my alarm in the morning. On the one hand it has a fairly progressively calm to loud start and on the other I knew I'd want to shut it off as quickly as possible, because of how 'bad' it'd make me feel once it got going.
All these remind me of growing up in the 90s.thanks for the memories. This lady went to record this song with bad wold and she died in bath tub the night before the recording. They donated the new song to her fam.i think..try and give it a read. And do badwolf zombie...
This is what it sounds like when a song cries out loud. In the 90's we Gen Xers fought the system through our music, and the classic lyrics such as this. It was a very personal, and powerful way to have our voices heard. I wish today's youth and music industry understood this.
There were a lot of bombs going off in London and I remember this one time a child was killed when a bomb was put in a rubbish bin - that's why there's that line in the song, 'A child is slowly taken'. [ ... ] We were on a tour bus and I was near the location where it happened, so it really struck me hard - I was quite young, but I remember being devastated about the innocent children being pulled into that kind of thing. So I suppose that's why I was saying, 'It's not me' - that even though I'm Irish it wasn't me, I didn't do it. Because being Irish, it was quite hard, especially in the UK when there was so much tension. - Dolores O'Riordan in 2017, on writing "Zombie".[15]
It's crazy that that specifically was the one you remember because that's why she wrote this song. It was 2 boys killed, it was the Warrington bombing. I'm from Northern Ireland, I remember that happening, we lived it here daily. ❤
