  • In this video I show how to do a cranking No-Start diagnosis using only a $3 test light.

    Crank but no start ... in most cases it's the Crankshalf Position sensor needs to be replaced.

    • @SchrodingersBox
      @SchrodingersBox  4 года назад

      In my experience that is the cause less than 10% of the time. I would never recommend just replacing a CKPS for a no start.

      @@SchrodingersBox ... Oh well agree, I would not replace the crankshaft position sensor just like that. But I don't rule it out either.
      Another possibility is there might be a horrible vacuum leak somewhere. Too much air, not enough gas.

    5:30 Would have immediately removed the air intake, sprayed either some starting fluid or brake parts cleaner (carb cleaner? Either one I suppose, heard BPC is more atomized, evaporates quicker, not sure if that is true or true every time but this sticks in memory,) really good amount like spray for 5 seconds, see if it runs off of that. This of course will tell you if there is spark etc, if going int he direction of fuel.

      Your damn way to find out if it's a fuel pump and filter, is if one is to think, 'because of a precise time of failure, and when it runs 'intermittently', sometimes great, up until anti drug law protesters or Green Party protesters, organized crime syndicate and or NRA, KKK, BLM protesters find out what your doing', 'Using alien government satellites these people of the Roots Of All Evil are gonna shut down this high payed for car, in the most inconvenient times'; one would know it's a fuel pump or fuel filter.
      This attitude, way of thinking, overwhelmingly, is obviously tormenting the users, when a filter takes out a fuel pump, a bad fuel pump. That's for sure.
      Perhaps in the nearby future demented alien governments will zap your cars, but one will know the difference. That enemy will destroy the cars for everyone.
      Except in the case of Dr. Bloomberg and them unwanted evil people who like to hurt us on a personal side.

      You should change to my theory of idiots thinking they understand business models when they actually have no clue. Chris Fix is a completely different target demographic than what I pursue. You won't find him doing near the diagnostic level I do here. That should be blatantly obvious even to a complete idiot, but like I said, my theory is accurate.
      Besides- my paid channel alone earns more income than Chris makes with his free channel. And you think his business model is better ROtfLMAO!!! Please- you not only substantiated my theory, you proved it conclusively. The only incompetent businessman seems to be you my friend.

    • @kharden0733
      @kharden0733 5 лет назад +2

      ...100% scientifically conclusive hahaha! I’m sorry, but I came across this channel while doing some fuel system research, and I have to to agree that there was WAY too much “side chatter”. by the end of the video I had forgotten what he was trying to demonstrate. However, it’s clear that he’s on a much higher level of intelligence than the “average folk”, which is why he’s “quirkier”. I absolutely got nothing educational out of this video, but the comments were priceless... and how many people just like us sat and watched the entire video...some of which have even posted comments(good bad indifferent)? He’s clearly doing something right whether it’s intentional or not! Lol.
      @schrodingers box- I would suggest “dumbing it down” for those of us who aren’t mechanical geniuses, and try to just focus on the “1-2-3’s”. Short, simple and easy to follow.

    • @SchrodingersBox
      @SchrodingersBox  3 года назад

      Yep that’s very true. I have at least 3 videos that show getting fuel at the rail is not validation the pump is good. I know a lot of people depress the Schrader valve and if fuel sprays out they eliminated fuel delivery as a variable and thats a big mistake.

      I saw an episode where he noticed a 12 hp Kohler engine smoking and running like the choke was half-way on, MacGyver pipes up "Hey, looks like you've got a busted piston there!" Pulls the engine apart to reveal a broken-in-half connecting rod, then uses some coins (usually made of Nickel, a different metal) held in the alligator clamp of some jumper-cables to arc-weld the aluminum halves of the connecting rod together. I was disgusted, it isn't a compliment to refer to any mechanic as "MacGuyver"

    Nice work with the test light! If you have not already and your vehicle is more than 10 years old, upgrade your AAA card for the free 100 mile tow. Diagnostics are great but you still need to get a broken down vehicle to a repair shop/mechanic.

    • @SchrodingersBox
      @SchrodingersBox  6 лет назад +1

      Yeah I always do my best to try to save the customer any fees with towing etc but at the time there was no way I was getting under the vehicle in my suit lol. Towing was only option!

    • @Sandbag1300
      @Sandbag1300 6 лет назад

      I thought about carrying tools. Realized that I cannot carry all the possible repair parts too. So, unless it is a battery jump start or changing a flat tire the vehicle is getting towed. The AAA upgrade to the Plus Membership for about $88 annually with the 100 mile tow will save your clients $$$. I believe you have to be a standard AAA member for 90 days first to qualify. The road side visit was good moral support though.

    A tow truck driver that can't back up? It doesn't surprise me, the incompetence nowadays of people that are supposed to be "professionals" at something, that are it turns out the most basic of amateurs.

    • @SchrodingersBox
      @SchrodingersBox  3 года назад +1

      it’s not that, honestly. most just have policies that they don’t come on your driveway because people make claims the truck caused damages or whatever. some of the drivers will drop off the car right into a specific bay in my garage with mesmerizing precision but others are not even allowed to drop it in the driveway even though they have similar abilities. it’s more a matter of policy for the particular company.

  • @situationmoney

    Policy not to unload the car in the driveway = lazy tow truck driver

    • @Zib187
      @Zib187 6 лет назад

      It's perfectly understandable that the guy didn't want to unload the car in the driveway because there's a liability issue, especially one that has a good incline.

    • @SchrodingersBox
      @SchrodingersBox  6 лет назад

      Yes Zib is right- it's a liability thing. I usually use the same driver and he really hooks me up (no pun intended lol). I have a severe incline on my driveway and yet still the guy lines up even SUV's to just roll right off the ramp into the bay without hitting my garage door or scraping my concrete. He's amazing. But whenever customers choose their own driver much more often than not they drop it in the street, and this guy in the video even spent 2 minutes taking pictures all over the car to boot!!
