Good to know, things aren't as bad as they are in the news ...stay blessed people & keep fighting for your rights ! ..love from India 🌺
Thank you so much for this. I'm moving to Colombia this summer and this whole thing with the riots got me concerned. Thank you for shedding some light in this.
I'm in Cali and everything is not so peachy. I love the Colombian people but I would hold off moving to Colombia and. especially investing till this all pans out
Wish you good luck on your Indiana Jones Adventure! Let me know if you find the Temple Of Doom!
Dont move right hold it ,Colombia might be going the Venezuela way pretty soon, this will bring people into socialism just like it happened to the ex-rich Venezuelan country.
@@andretigiovaneti7587 Thanks for your advice. How many countries will become Venezuela and Zimbabwe in 2021-2030?????? Colombia has a great chance of this happening! Many other Emerging Markets!
@@DanTheQueasy-Fisherman he probably wants the temple of poon
Add 5 million unemployed from your next door neighbor, and throw in a pandemic lockdown with no work, and it's a miracle things are this calm there, and in many other places.
Well said
Why people of the worlds nation put up with these lockdowns and curfews is beyond me! They are useless corona virus still gona do what it dies until its herd immunity. People still need to live and. everyday life and the economy must still go on! The control and cutting off of citizens of the world due to this bullshit planned pandemic ( its exploiting and controlling aspects ) there is a virus but its waaaay over blown. Hell 99% of us dont have it world wide and damn if you do catch it 99.5% of us will recover. Follow the true science dammit
Thank you very much for the video. I travel to Colombia on June 10 and nothing better than to show my mother this video to calm her down😁
Haha, you better don't! Have a safe trip.
Glad to hear you guys are safe.
You missed out Cali - limited food and petrol, airport closed, the city is still blockaded so you cannot enter or leave the city. Latest protests are people protesting against violence, looting, blockades and in support of the police. Not a great Mothers day this year. Oh and millions of chickens dying due to no food.
In Medellin like in countless places around the world after 14 months of quarantine, fear of death from COVID and massive job losses, everybody's nerves are frazzled. The central government in Bogota has been thrown into a financial crisis and unwisely decided to raise the sales tax. Those protesting would say that "unwisely" is too charitable a choice of words. They are calling the decision foolish and insane. I have a hard working Colombian friend who in five years never spoke to me about politics. Now he's sending me WhatsApps with pictures of raised fists. If he's gone political then Colombia has a real problem because he's not by nature political.
The tax increase was cancelled so in the short term things may cool down a bit but the country's fiscal crisis has not been addressed and will manifest itself in other ways. The country's standing in the international credit markets will be damaged and the currency could lose value causing the cost of imports to climb which will in turn affect an already depressed employment rate. International investment and expansion will go elsewhere as hard core leftists are salivating at the prospect of a triumph at the polls.
More than anybody or anything I blame the pandemic for this. It is a freak of nature and it has happened many times in history. For example, World War I killed an estimated 18 million people but in the months that followed the war a flu epidemic swept in and killed 50 million people.
Good comment 👍
Very optimistic compared to the FAKE NEWS we have today. Thanks for the truth with great optimism! I hope to have a great image of Bogota and Chapinero area! Hope you all have great travels this summer!
From all of my friends in Colombia they told me do not come right now! They said it very bad , my friend was stranded in Cali Colombia, but he was finally able to get out.
I believe you; guess they aren't as wealthy. Let's remember the ones suffering the most are low-income families. The ones with good money in their pockets simply do not care. That is the main problem.
Thank you for this! I feel relieved. I was getting worried as I'm planning to move to Colombia at the end of this year
Me too. I am concerned, but not canceling plans.
I have a friend in Colombia outside of the large cities and there's no food. The supermarkets are empty except for beer. You didn't know or mention that the truckers are on strike and major highways were blocked. The country is still not stable, unless people get food there are going to be more protests and maybe violence.
exactly.
They live in a bubble and don't speak about the real issues going on here. A bunch of fools honestly
I understand what you mean. There was protest in my city of Houston, Texas last year and I was not even aware of it. Protest happen and if your not apart of it, then the risk of getting injured is low to none. Ya’ll keep safe and keep up the videos! I enjoy them!
Houston has not had one volent protest that can be compared to Colombia, I was born and raise there, 100,000 people are moving there every year, lot of opportunities, the only real problem we have is illegal immigration, and not sure how that problem is going to be solved. www.chron.com/news/slideshow/The-numbers-are-in-This-Houston-area-city-is-one-202659.php
Not even close to being the same .
I was waiting to hear from you!v I was worried lol thank you for the update
My vacation to Medellin is in 3 weeks I'm 50/50 on cancelling. I'm not so worried about the violence as I'm kinda used to it. My fear is getting stuck down there due to blocking of roads or the airport. Also covid. I can't decide!
We just left Cartagena/Barranquilla a week ago and didn’t really feel the protests going on at all. That’s not to say it’s not happening, but we felt very safe where we were. We actually didn’t even notice it until we got back to the states. I don’t think I would cancel a trip there if I were going back knowing that. I’m also from Washington DC where we protest everyday, so having that background, I don’t think there’s much danger outside the city centres as Tacha and Sam said. But as always, just take precautions, stay safe and you’ll enjoy your trip.
DC does not have violent protest every day, just stop the misinformation. travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories/colombia-travel-advisory.html
@@tofineone Don’t put words in my mouth. Never said VIOLENT. Just said protests, which minus the violence, is the exact same thing. Abstract vs concrete thinking here. Read between the lines.
Thanks for sharing your experience!
I live in the eje cafetero for two years now and comparing this to DC protests is like comparing your kids teeball game to a New York Mets game. This is not the same as BLM protests in DC...Maybe things have calmed down in Bogota. but here and in Cali it is not good.
@@beslanintruder2077 hombre.. you’re LITERALLY within the crosshairs of the trifecta (Medellin, Bogota, Cali) so of course you’re gonna see more action there. My comment is that it’s not happening as bad in other places outside those areas. Just like the video suggested.
Thanks so much for this video. I have a flight set for Bogotá the 1st of June and I've been debating on whether to change my destination. Now I feel more secure about my trip. 🙂
Thanks for the update, Sam and Tacha! Nevertheless, stay safe. 🙏
Thanks, Sam and Tacha. Really helpful as always.
Thanks Scott, glad it was helpful! Take care!
glad y'all are safe, take care
Thanks for the update on the situation in Colombia. MSM depicts the worst case senario.
Your videos are fantastic! Thank you for the wonderful content.
Glad it's helpful!
Agreed! We are in Chapinero Bogota and everything is pretty normal. Every so often the kids are on their way to the protests and a large group will block the street as they are heading down. Other than that just avoid the major parks in Bogota per the Embassy. I am running around with a toddler and feel perfectly safe.
Thank you for the update. I am planning to visit Bogota this month. I will also be staying in Chapinero.
I live here for the past 3 months. I can say from my experience that there is a lot of fear mongering and propaganda in the news. life is beautiful.
news creating fear and division , they do that shit every where
3 months and now you are an expert on living in Columbia, LOL Just QUITE IT!!!!
Great job Stay Safe
Glad you guys are okay.
Another great video.
Thanks!
Social media and media at large make it look much worse than it is. I am in Medellin and got coincidentally into the big protest in Alpujara on the 28 of April as well as few others. All was peaceful and orderly. Police walked behind then and even supported them. Every person or entity has some sort of agenda and interest as for how they tell a story. I walk the streets, take public transportation in different areas of the city and feel absolutely safe!!!
Yo he estado muy emocionada a viajar a Colombia hace mucho tiempo.
@@HowToExpat Voy a visitar Bogotá, Eje Cafetero y Cartagena. Ojalá tengas razón, y todo será mejor en julio. Voy a esperar hasta junio antes de tomar una decisión. Gracias por tu respuesta. Lo aprecio mucho. ¡Cuídate! 😊🙏🏽

Well. There are protests. But they are not as bad as international press make it out to be
have you been to Cali? The international press much less Caracol or RCN are anything but honest.....
@@beslanintruder2077 there are protests . But it's not a civil war levels as it was sometimes depicted.
they are under reporting and thats why Colombians in New York, Sydney, London and Berlin are protesting as well and to get the word out. There is censorship and deliberate slowing of the internet to prevent the ineptitude of the local and national govt from being exposed.
@@beslanintruder2077 in that I agree . Ineptitude by the government.

Cali is getting very complicated,no public transport , vegetables very hard to find and when you can extremely expensive, no money in the atm,s, no , most gas stations closed, it’s hard for everyone. Here.
How’s the situation with the flooding? How is the weather issues and rioting affecting going to the new Viva mall? And can you talk about what you’re hearing about a more strict quarantine anytime soon?
It’s sad that some of those protesters continue to destroy there own community, while the government officials they want to hold accountable are sleeping peacefully in there mansions. Those officials could care less if they burn down businesses and metro stations. They need to march on there homes if they want to see change.
Do you have gas and food in Medillin? We live in Cali and all the gas stations are closed and food is scarce.
Exactly like I just said, it's not everything coming up roses. Perhaps the ex-pats are in the more expensive part of town but for the man on the street it's hard.
As of today, we do have gas and food. Stay safe!
@@nodrug2 We are not living in an expat neighborhood. But there are surely other parts of Medellín and Colombia in general that are more affected than others.
@@HowToExpat That's good and I heard from the Governor of Valle that she was in Bogota and everything is pretty normal there too. Cali evidently is 1 of the cities where there are more problems. Bullies have literally seized the city and blocked the roads and the police and army are ordered to stand down and let them do it. We are thinking of going on vacation to Cartegena for a few weeks till Cali either explodes or calms down.
@@nodrug2 What city r u in? Different cities are different. Some have stronger government. Cali the mayor and Governor are weak.
Nov 2019 my wife and I met her family in Santa Marta and they traveled from Magangue to Barranquilla and then to Santa Marta. But due to protests and highways being blocked at certain points their arrival was a bit late. The same thing happened again a few weeks later when my wife met with a cousin and her son (who live in Bogota). Their flight was delayed due to protests. So I guess transportation delays are somewhat normal in Colombia. Glad you guys are doing well!
Hey, is there a curfew in place in Cartagena? Is it strict? If I’m a tourist, can I still go outside and buy grocery? If there is a curfew, do you know if by June 1st, things will go back?
quite accurate info. Thx!
*I say all things WILL pass!* 🌴😎👍
Unfortunately, at least in my opinion, middle class and poor Colombians have a lot to protest about. Also, The government comes down incredibly hard on them. They killed how many? 70-80? That's 70-80 too many. Glad that you two are safe and that things have settled down. Hope to be back soon so please keep us informed on things.
I was confident Colombia would be okay overall, protests cause problems but most times they can be avoided. People have the right to be heard, but I agree as longs as they doo not harm others or cause damage. Mostly what I have seen on the news is an overreaction by the police.
Thanks for your videos y’all. My girlfriend, and her family are in Pasto Nariño. She messaged me this morning, and she mentioned that it’s more complicated to get food at the supermarket. Are the food supplies running as normal? I’m sitting here in the US worrying.
Sending more money will help ☺️
@@mateor7302 I always do. Every week
I haven’t heard much about Cartagena. Are the protests occurring there?
Can someone give the link to some petitions, I can’t find any
Can someone please give information about curfew these days? Thank you!
Curfews start every day after 10 pm
Yellow Vest protests in France, demonstrations in Chile, BLM riots in the US. It's been going on everywhere. I'm hoping Colombia will be able to peacefully resolve its challenges.
Would u recommend moving there still ? Coming in 4 months.
Yep
I don't know you guys are not out there enough. See she just admitted you guys stay at the house most of the time. Although I do believe that you guys are not affected that much by it. And that you're not afraid we're living in fear you just keeping your boundaries. But for somebody coming over as a tourist on vacation it might be better that somebody who's out there trying to go to the club trying to go here trying to do this trying to go to the beach interacting with the people. How is it affecting them you need somebody more active more involved a lock in activity there, of different varieties and more broadly than your experiences. To give it more true or picture but we appreciate what you are offering
I'm going to Cartagena. Hopefully it will be peaceful down there. It could be worse because I was about to choose michoacan mexico and theirs a war going on. The only thing I'm afraid of is getting shot , kidnapped and killed.
Great video full of info on the current situation..my question to both of you is, is it safe for tourists to visit the larger cities at this time, for example, can an American visit Medellin and be safe ? I'm told that as long as you remain in the populated areas and don't go out at night time you will be fine . There is always an element of danger in regards to robbery (pick pockets) and theft, but is there also much danger in regards to kidnapping for ransom and things of that nature ?
In comparison, 30 people were shot last week in just Chicago, US.
you are comparing apples to oranges. Also the actual death toll is probably 50 by now. hundreds of people wounded and hundreds ave been detained. In Colombia, there is no second amendment and guns like you see in hoods of Chicago are actually NOT in the hands of MOST citizens.
@@beslanintruder2077 Your point is? .....
@@graham6132 my point, is that you have no point and also no clue about what is going on here....
I have been in Cucuta for the past month and have not had any problems. The protesting problems have been in the city center if the major metropolitan areas.
Thanks for sharing.
My girlfriend lives in Santa Rosa de Cabal and owns a. buseta but has been unable to use it, it travels to. Pereira but has not worked for a week or more and there is a shortage of fuel and food. Do you know what the government is going to do to ease the situation, and I am hoping. to go there later this year as I normally spend a couple of months in Colombia and she visits me for a couple. of months here in Spain (where we met when she lived here with her brother)
I was just approved for my pension visa to Colombia, is the Unidad Administrativa Especial Migracion offices open so I may fly into colombia and register my visa?
Congrats on getting the visa! It would be best to get in touch with the migration office directly.
Have you experienced food shortages yet because of the truck drivers being on strike? Al Jazeera news had a segment on the news last night about what's going on in Colombia.
We can just talk for Medellín. Everything is fine here we don't have any food shortages whatsoever. However, I heard of other cities like Cali that they do have difficulties.
@@HowToExpat thanks for the info. Please take care and stay safe. I was supposed to fly to Colombia on the 1st of May but canceled because of issues there.
